Thanks SydneyKid - It'd be nice to find a 12 or 13spi actuator, but I think to get what psi I want I'd be looking at an adjustable one... How much pressure does the stock R32 actuator hold? 9psi, 10psi ? J
-
That could also be a factory in it too But I think at the relativly low boost, I'd say the actuator is the main reason. Thanks JimX - that's a good price and I'll be keeping an eye out for one. J
-
Since my last dyno run, and I watch it drop from 12psi to 9.5psi as the revs got up high, I've been pondering the same thing. Any idea what an HKS adjustable actuator costs?? I'm pretty sure it would be the spring tension, it just can't hold the flap closed as exhaust gases increase and speed up I'd be keen to hear from someone that has done the 'R32 actuator on a R33 turbo' mod J

Gearbox Oil Change
Jay95R33 replied to Jay95R33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
It's pretty much the same as the gearbox. Drain the old oil by using the bottom drain plug. Then refill using the plug half way up the diff. I'd say for normal driving about every 50,000km ??? I can't remember the type of oil I used in the diff... J -
Gearbox Oil Change
Jay95R33 replied to Jay95R33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
One thing I noticed with the VMX80 is that it got better the more you drove it. The improvement wasn't straight away that's for sure. Let it go for 500km and see if it get's better. The additive that I added to the diff was straight from Nissan. It's what they use in the new Patrol's to stop the diff chattering. It made a little bit of difference to the 2 way, not a massive difference though... Apparently the stuff is a friction modifier, so it allows the diff to slip a little more before it locks up.. Maybe... J -

My 16 inch Davies Craig hasn't missed a beat in over 12 months. Temps are stable, engine responce up a little, and had no problems. As said before, you need to re-wire the AC fan to come on as soon as you turn the AC on - I've got a thread on this so do a search. I'm running the thermo switch as well and have found that in winter it pretty much never turns on with normal driving, and only comes on occasisionally when stopped still for 5+ minutes. Summer it'll come on for 1-2 minutes then stays off for 3-4 minutes. One thing I found with the Davies Craig kit is that the fuse holder you get with the kit is CRAP... Replace it straight away with a good quality one that can handle heaps of current. Mine melted after about 3 months !! The 16 inch version draws 19 amps while just spinning, on startup it'll peak upto 30 amps. The only reason why I ditched my old one clutch fan was cause I thought it was stuffed, and I got the DC 16 kit cheap. I later found out that it wasn't the clutch fan that was stuffed !!! J

New Diff fitted - car out of tune?
Jay95R33 replied to Steve's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hmm, initially I thought that you may have been spinning one wheel with the stock diff, but now the 2 way your not, and therefore there would be more load on the motor = pinging.. BUT, not being able to boost upto what you were before would suggest a tuning problem or something else wrong. I hope you get it sorted. J -
FS: Cusco copy oil catch cans
Jay95R33 replied to blitzpower's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Do these have baffles and have steel wool inside like the Cusco ones?? And what are the size of the intel/outlets ? J -
Doesn't look internally gated either. So you'll be up for for more $$ for the external gate and manifold
-
Thanks Clint. The only problem would be that I have to take them all apart (un-stitch them totally) to see if I can make them up.... Once unstitched, I wouldn't be able to sew them back up if I decide not to make them I might try and find a set to by outright first, cause I'd hate myself if I pulled your apart only to find I can't make them Thanks anyway. J

G'day all, I'm after a old set of gearstick and handbrake boots from a R32. MUST be factory items. I don't care if they have a few holes in them, or fairly worn, as long as each of them are in one piece and come with the wire frames that are down the bottom of them. And before anyone asks, I don't want to swap them with a new set that I may make, cause I'm still not sure if I'll be making the R32 ones. But I need to get my hands on a set to check them out. Cheers J

I wouldn't hessitate to buy stuff from Nengun (Brent) again. When I bought my cam gear I emailed 5 people. Only 2 ever got back to me !!! Nengun had a good price so I went with them. Once Brent got the item in stock it was only 3 days until it was on my door step Everything went without a problem, and it went straight through customs with no problems. J

Leather Gearstick & Handbrake Boots
Jay95R33 replied to Jay95R33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
THE OAK - I just sent you a PM. Next lot will be ready in a few weeks. J -
YOur gunna have to drain some of the oil either way. Using a plate would be the best way I'd say. I went for the adaptor in the sump plug. If you go the sump plug way, you'll have to buy one and then take it too a machine shop and get the right thread put on it - I looked EVERYWHERE and couldn't find one..... I think it was a 10x1.25 thread ?? Best checking for yourself though. J

Jay95R33 replied to Jay95R33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Thanks Revhead Gts4 - Yepp, I haven't forgotten about you 32 guys. I'm waiting to get a factory gear and handbrake boot off of my mate that has a R32 GTR. From them I can take a good look at them and see what is involved with making new ones, and alse see if it's worth while/viable. IF I think it's worth while, then I have to work on making a template, and then work on getting it 100% right before making them up and sending them out. Long process, and to make it hard I don't have a lot of free time J -
