  1. Yepp, no problems Matt. I'll make a metal note of it later on and let you know. 3000rpm is just a guesstimate, years of late nights and days down the pub are taking their toll on the memory
  2. I'll have to check mine, but I think it does around 3000rpm at 80km/h in 4th.. I could be wrong though, so I'll check on the way home tonight. I've got the stock size of 225/50/16's. J
  3. Having a total shocker of a day !! But now it's mega smooth. For a stock ECU I'm really happy at how smooth it is now. There's a bit of a dip right up top where the wastegate is having a hard time, but apart from that it's all good. If I'm real keen I could squeeze another 1-1.5 psi out of it, then run it again on a cold day and maybe break 175rwkw on the stock ECU.... Or run it in shootout mode and it'll read higher.....If I'm really keen that is, which I'm not... Just as a comparison on the dyno - A R32 GTR ran up straight after I did, this GTR did 240rwkw on a dyno down in Melb, and only pulled 225rwkw on this dyno. This same car has managed a 4.1 sec 0-100 time !!! Just goes to show that you can't compare different dynos etc... J
  4. What a joke !! I wonder if that bloke now realises that he will be bagged out for years to come ! Or maybe he thought it'd pull the chicks
  5. LOL - I actually remember a pulsar with crome hubcaps cause the sun caught them and blinded me for a sec !! That's funny, weird stuff that I remember !! We were heading out to Fyshwick to have a play on the dyno at Autotech Services
  6. I think it was about 3.7 lt or something.. If I remember right, it has a breather pipe that bolts to one of the top bolts that holds the gearbox to the motor. Do you remember seeing the breather pipe? With the oil level, with the car on flat ground, just fill it up untill it starts coming out of the filler hole. J
  7. We didn't see you was you in your Skyline?
  8. Not sure on the gearbox ratios for a R33 GTS-t. If it helps any I've got a stock gearbox and the diff runs the stock 4.11 ratio. Hmm, the first run I did yesterday with my old ECU didn't have the dip, and that was before we advanced the timing to 17 degrees. So in my case I think it may have been just the reset that got rid of the dip... Not sure... Wierd how advancing the timing did nothing. The CAS is definatly rotated more than it was before, and at idle it showed the increase in base timing, just didn't do anything on the dyno run... At 15 degrees and 17 degrees the two power lines were sitting right over each other. I suppose that it's good that the car can pull off a few full power runs and not loose even 1rwkw Nice and consistant power, even on a 33 degree day ! J
  9. Steve - Yepp, I think your right, better flowing uptop is helping things. Busky2k - I'm supprised that a reset got rid of the flat spot !! If it comes back again you know what I'll be doing BTW: 2nd gear goes to ~105km/h, 3rd gear only goes to ~140km/h, and 4th tops out just before 180km/h, so the gearing is fairly close...
  10. Benm - the red line is the original dyno run from about 7 months ago that didn't have the highflow cat and adj ech cam gear. So the red line is the old power, and the green line is the current power. J
  11. P.S. - I'm not too concered about the overall power cause this dyno is known to read low and every dyno is different !!! But the interesting thing is the (lack of) dip in the second run. J
  12. I was actually pretty happy with the A/F ratios on the second run (the green line). They stick to 12:1 which is just about perfect, then drop to about 11.2:1 after about 4500rpm. I could get a SAFC to lean it up above 4500rpm, but there wouldn't be much in it. I think there would be bigger gains in being more aggressive in the timing. But sadly we don't have much control (almost zero control) over the timing. I did adjust the base timing from 15 degrees to 17 degrees and there was absolutley no difference in the runs which supprised me..... Maybe I should've gone to 20 degrees or something ?? J
  13. I got rid of the nasty flat spot !!! I don't know how for sure, but read on....... After a recent round of simple mods, I took the car in to see if everything was on track and OK. Just a bit of background. Used same dyno. First (lower) run don in winter on a 16 degree day, second was done on a 32-33 degree day. Dyno was run in NON shootout mode, in 4th gear. Difference between first run and second run was a highflow cat, an adjustable exh cam gear set at 3 degrees retarded, and a different rear muffler. Plus the ECU was out of the car for a day prior, so it would have reset itself. Full mods are very simple, 3 inch turbo back exhaust, 12psi boost (see attached sheet) highflow panel filter in stock box, FMIC, adj exh cam gear. Stock ECU, Stock turbo. The thing I am most happy with is that for reasons unknown I have got rid of the flat spot that most other R33 GTS-t's get. I'm still running the same ECU... The only thing I can see is maybe (and it's a big maybe) it was cause the ECU was reset the night before.. Getting rid of the flatspot has gained me about 35rwkw in the mid range !!!! VERY happy with that.... Up top it's about 10rwkw gained, but it's much smoother. I might wind the boost up a little cause it's dropping off at the top (see attached) due to the wastegate creeping open at high RPM's..... The next step for me is programmable ECU.. Open to comments Anyway, too much crapping on, have a look for yourself....
  14. That would have been James and I Both silver, but mine is a R33 GTS-t, and James' is a R32 GTR
  15. Going from Freebaggin's results that are posted earlier on in this thread, and also seeing my car on the dyno at 12psi, I'd say they will hold boost upto 1 bar with no problems. I was going to do the full on mod that Boostd has done, but in my particular case I don't think it's worth the effort. It probably is if your running higher boost, but at 12psi I'm not sure if it would be that much of a benefit. The jerking/surging isn't a problem in my car. It happens maybe once or twice in a fortnight, so it's really no issue. J
  16. Just for info. Most of the input shafts across the nissan range are the same. We used an inmput shaft from a 180B to line it up on a R33 !!! LOL
  17. Good stuff, easy fix. J
  18. Yepp, that last inch sucks!! In addition to what has been said before, make sure the box has an even gap all the way around it (between it and the motor). If possible, put it in gear, get someone to push the back of the box towards the motor, and another person to 'jiggle' the rear wheels to turn the shafts in the box, this might help it line up the teeth etc... Oh, a really cool trick to get the spiggot bearing out that works 100% with zero fuss....... Get a tube of dry lube, it's sort of like softish wax but is actual lube.. Fill the hole in the pressure plate (where the siggot bearing is) with dry lube, get as much in there as you can. The get a (I think) 5/16th bolt, if 5/16th's isn't the right size, then get a bolt that JUST fit's into the siggot bearing. With the siggot bearing full of dry lube, put the bolt in the hole and hit the bolt in with a hammer. Hydraulics will do the rest The dry lube will force the siggot bearing out with about 3-4 taps of the hammer I was amazed at how easy it was to do. J
  19. B-Man - when it running up on the dyno, make sure the pipe from the AFM to the turbo isn't sucking closed. It could be causing it too. J
  20. Isn't that supposed to be 9.55kg/Kw and 7.27kg/Kw ?? Interesting read this thread seems I almost bought one when before I bought the R33. I also thought the Bluebirds were mainly FWD until there was slip, then the backs kicked in, it's just what I was told for the car dealers so it could be a load of :bs!: Probably the only two things that stopped me from buying one was the FWD thing, plus I wanted a manual, and manuals are sooooo hard to find Very nice cars though, and could be pretty damn fast with a few mods. J
  21. Places like Dick Smith, Jaycar, Tandy. All of these guys have them. J
  22. LOL - this is so true. My sister breeds Dobermans, I've been tempted to get one of the boys she has and chain him up at the car They are great when your their friend, but stuffed if I'd go near one that I don't know !!! J
  23. Thanks SydneyKid - that's exactly what info I was after. I'll be having a play with the timing next Wed when the car is having a play on the dyno. Lukits01 - turning the CAS anti-clockwise will advance the timing. Is this right everyone? Or have I stuffed up the direction again... LOL
  24. Spotted down the Hyper D at about 5pm - a green R33 GTS't with the rear wing taken off, stock wheels, lowered. Anyone know this car? They look good in the dark green. J
