  1. I noticed a gain on the 'seat of the pants' dyno... Maybe about 5-8 cheaks worth (or about 10 skid-marks in the old scale). It also felt like it spooled up a little quicker and the boost didn't seem to drop off as much high in the rev range. Worth the money I say. J
  2. Cool - just remember that it takes about 500-1000km for the additive to start working well. Cheers J
  3. As said before, around 30% for rwd cars - in particular the R33's. Some 4wd cars can have losses as high as 48% !!!! Makes you wonder why hay....
  4. MA - do a search in the Maintance section of this forum for "diff oil for a 2 way diff". I've got a 2 way in mine too, and after a lot of phoning around and talking to people I found a way of loosening it up a little. 2 way diffs are sensitive to the type of oil that you use. Basically it comes down to the following; Drain and flush out the oil in the diff the best you can. Go into your local Nissan spare parts dealer and buy the diff additive that they use in the new Nissan Patrols to stop diff chatter - this will cost about $75 for about 300ml !!!! Put the diff additive in and then fill up (about 1.3 lt) with LS90 grade diff oil. It'll take about 500-1000km for it to work properly. I found that doing this has reduced the diff chatter by about 50-60% !! The diff still locks up if you accelrate hard, but it doesn't lock as fast as before. The problem is that this method won't work with all 2 ways cause there are different types (rod type, clutch type etc...). I decided to bite the bullett and try it out ($100 in oil to try it out is alot of money !!), and I'm happy with the outcome. Now if I drive calm the diff is almost like normal, but give it a boot full and reep the benefits of a 2 way Or you could just change it over to a normal diff - it's up to you. I went the path of the oil cause I could do it myself and it was easy. Much less hassle than buying a stock one, getting it installed, and then trying to sell the 2 way. Good luck J
  5. Lining the inside of the box with the heat resistant foam will help fend off heatsoak. I used the foam and there is a noticable difference in temps using the 'hand method' !! J
  6. Over-rated !!! I thought it was a good effort ! Oh well, I don't mind if it's not up to everyone's standards......
  7. LOL - I'm not too good when I'm tired (you should hear some of the stories that my mates have of when I'm tired LOL ). But yeah, they are handy and would be good to get them back.... Grovel grovel J
  8. Howdy, Any chance of bringing back 'Message Tracking' and 'PM to Multiple Recipients' ?? I just had to PM 7 people and it'll fill up my PM box pretty fast Message tracking was great cause if the PM hadn't been read for a while you knew you had to email them - plus I don't know when it's safe to delete the Pm out of my 'sent' box.. I think I'm talking crap now, so I better go - damn I'm tired Thanks Jayson
  9. One thing to remember when you get a pod is that if you don't make a cold air box for it then you'll more than likely go backwards in power. That's due to the pod sucking in hot air from the engine bay. Cold air boxes can be made pretty easily and are worth the time. I've recently gone from a HKS pod filter (in a cold air box) back to a stock airbox with a high flow filter so I can coment on a direct comparison. The pod did give me better throttle responce but I very much dought if it gave more power over the rev range. I certainly couldn't feel more power - or should I say a reducion in power when I went back to a stock box. The reasons I changed back to a stock box was cause the induction noise was anoying me, and I couldn't be bothered with the risk of a defect (yes, I'm an old fart !! ) I would personaly recomend getting a high flow panel filter for the stock box, and also remove the wadding stuff that is in the top of the stock box (for better flow). This will give you a slight induction noise (but not loud) if that's what your after. Jayson
  10. weetbix - go crazy on this site http://carfreaks.b0nk.net/
  11. Remember guys that it's about greater average power, not just greater outright power. But it's amazing what the RB20 can do for a 2lt motor, there's no doughting that. J
  12. Is it a 4wd ?? I think some were 4wd....
  13. That's weird.... Even the cheap ass ones should last longer than that Have a quick check on the clips that hold them in. If their not tight enough, the globes will rattle around and blow quicker. J
  14. G'day Mick and welcome V-spec.... Mmmmmmm, nice.... Yepp, your worthy It'll be good to met everyone at our next get together. J
  15. G'day Mark, Nope won't fit a R32 - sorry. J
  16. Cheers mate. I'll have to keep an eye out. J
  17. Yepp, could be the water pump. How many KM's has the car done? When they are on their way out, the water can seep out of the breather on the underside of the pump. Usually they only leak when the temps are up and it's got presure behind it. This mean that when the water leaks out it will evaperate straight away and just turn into mist, so you won't see any water on the ground and you'll be scratching your head for ages trying to find where the leak is.... Take it too a radiator place like RatRad etc. They can presure test the hole system and find out if it's the head gasket or water pump etc. Good luck J
  18. Oh crap, sorry Ronin - I forgot to post the results... Yepp, did it last weekend. I had a good look at taking the diff cover plate off and dicided it was going to be a pain in the butt, so I didn't take it off I managed to get the filler plug out without dropping the exhaust down... JUST.... My exhaust must be a bit different. Drained the oil using the bottom plug and let it drain for about an hour, then got my finger in the hole (!) and scooped the rest out. Filled it back up. All went well. It seems like road noise is down a bit as it's not as noisey in the cabin as it was before. The LS90 oil and the additive I used did loosen the 2 way diff up a little, not a great deal, but I can feel the difference. All in all I'm pretty happy with it. J
  19. Trying to explain things to some of the people on that forum is like banging your head against the wall..... But then again, banging your head against a wall is probably more fun.... J
  20. Mase - cool.. Me either Jet - got your PM. $800 is way too low, thanks anyway. J
  21. Ahhh, cool. It's only for the first 5 mins of driving that it crunches into 2nd, and if I double clutch it it's fine. Joel - Cool, I might give that stuff a try. Cheers Jayson
  22. G'day guys, Got a few things up for sale. First off is a set of JIC height adjustable coilovers with pillowball uppers on the front pair. These suit a R33 GTS-t. These puppies are in great condition and are currently set at about 20mm lower than stock, but can go much much lower... http://home.iprimus.com.au/jayson77/parts/jic-1.jpg http://home.iprimus.com.au/jayson77/parts/jic-2.jpg Asking $1100 ono Next is a TurboXS HPBC bleed valve. This has two valves built in. One is an adjustable anti wastgate creep valve so you can set it so the wastgate won't see any presure until 10psi (adjustable) and then the other one will bleed and hold it at 12psi (also adjustable). http://home.iprimus.com.au/jayson77/parts/hpbc.jpg http://www.turboxs.com/High%20Performance%...0Controller.htm Asking $80 ono And last is a HKS Pod filter WITH a CAI box. The filter has been cleaned (yes, you can actually clean these!!) and lightly oiled. Comes with all the nuts, bolts, brackets and clamps you need to install it into a R33 GTS-t. Plus I'll throw in the cold air box that is pictured below. http://home.iprimus.com.au/jayson77/parts/hks-1.jpg http://home.iprimus.com.au/jayson77/parts/hks-2.jpg http://home.iprimus.com.au/jayson77/parts/hks-3.jpg http://home.iprimus.com.au/jayson77/parts/hks-4.jpg $150 ono Buyer pays COD postage. Sydney people interested in the coilovers I can meet you have way, and Melbourne people I'll be down your way on 11th July. Cheers Jayson :alien:
