Watch out what brand/type of anti freeze you use. Some anti freeze stuff have rust inhabitors in them and if you mix to different types together it will actually clog up your radiator !!! Have a read on the ARE site www.are.com.au and have a look at some of their horror pics... Not good. If your going to do it, flush the crap out of it with a one of those radiator flush things.. J

Good stuff Well I was sort of close with the wire colour !! D'oh.... BTW: What brand shift light is it??? J

How bad is the stock airbox/filter?
Jay95R33 replied to T0nyGTSt's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I've been wondering this myself. Is it worth the extra 4hp and the hassles with noise and rego ??? The induction noise is OK, but can tick me off at times - it attracks alot of attention... :uh-huh: :uh-huh: -
It'll be there, just make sure your looking at the ECU and diagram the right way Your tacho hooks straight upto pin 7 (and your ABS looks at it as well). If your tacho is working, then it'll be there.. :uh-huh: I could be wrong here (shocking memory) but I think the tacho wire (pin 7) is brown with a yellow stripe??? J

Give this a try. Be careful with the tacho output. It's very sensitive and has a very high impedence output. I popped my last ECU by trying to hook up a shift light J

what to spend my money on? powerfc AVCR AFC??? RSM????
Jay95R33 replied to Dragon18's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Wait until the car is here. The reason I say that is that sometimes gear can be pinched from your car while on the docks. Sad but true. Don't waste your money on s RSM, I'm sure you've got a speedo and tacho on the car that works. The Profec b is a good unit, hold onto that. You might find that the ECU has been remapped, so wait till it get's here. When the car get's here go right over the whole car and find out what it has, and if need it be run it up on a dyno and check A/F ratios, fuel pump preasure blah blah blah, decide from that what you want and need. Once you get the power bug you'll want more though -
I'd get the hand controler for sure. Apart from all the info you can see on them, I love the thought of dropping my car off for a service/new tyres/detail etc and setting the rev limit to 2800rpm Or I'm sure there would be a way of tuning one thing on the fuel or ignition maps so the car wouldn't start at all. Good if your leaving your car in a high theft area. That'll stuff'em

I got followed one day. I went past a done up SSS pulsar (going the opposite way), he pulled over, waited until I was about 100m away and chucked a u turn. I thought it was a bit wierd so I went passed my place up to a round about, I did a uturn at the round about and went past them. They did the same but stayed about 100m away. The next round about I did the same, did a uturn and again, so did they, this happend once more until I stopped the car - all puffed up ready to jump on their bonnet, when they saw the door open they slammed the brakes on, chucked a uturn and pissed off. I could've been paranoid, but it was strange. At that time heaps of Skylines where being knocked off and carjacked around sydney....

Front Mounting a standard Intercooler
Jay95R33 replied to Ozzy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
That's what i thought, but when I got mine in it's almost the opposite. I don't know how or why, but it is. Spools up at around the same spot, just harder now.. -
If your thinking about going for a EBC and a PFC one day, you might want to look at getting the PFC boost controler. It hooks up to and is controled by the PFC. But I think the problem with that is you won't have the switch/press button hi/lo settings that you have at the moment. Just a thought.... J

Front Mounting a standard Intercooler
Jay95R33 replied to Ozzy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah, I wouldn't bother about relocating the stock cooler. The thing that sucks about them is the presure drop accross them.. Save your buckaroonies and get a secondhand one or a hybrid. A mate just picked up a nice one that's 600x250x75 with nice cast end tanks that are like the GTR endtanks, for $550 !!! And I was real lucky to get mine for $640, 700x300x75 -
Good Job People On The New Website
Jay95R33 replied to GTStR32's topic in General Automotive Discussion
One word.... Sweeeeeeeettt.... -
No problems I'm pretty sure it's available through UAS or JMS, or they can order it for you. Actually, it might be even cheaper though http://www.takakaira.com/ I was lucky cause my car had it in already when I bought it. It was funny cause I only found out that it had it about 9 months after I bought it !!!! J

Check out this link http://homepages.tig.com.au/~robs/hicaslock.htm Like you said, for the R33's it's a bit more complicated cause you have to fool the computer and lock the rack. If you don't lock the rack, you end up with lots of toe in and when turning hard corners the wheels can actually push the fluid around !!! I've got a Tomei HICAS lock in mine but I haven't driven any other R33's so I can't compare. J

Gearbox fluid specs?
Jay95R33 replied to dlskip's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Howdy Not sure on the specs, but I used Castrol VMX90 (or is that VMX80??) in mine. Works well, and you'll need about ~3.9 lt. If you want the really good stuff, go for the Redline Shockproof. Apparently it's amazing stuff. I hope this helps. J -
G'day Matt, Thanks for the info Looks like my next mod will be a PFC and a Z32 AFM....... I'll try and get the old ECU working again. I opened it up and found a burnt resistor and a transistor that got so hot it unslodered itself from the board !!! Replaced the resistor and put the transistor back in the right spot but I'm a bit worries about putting it back in the car incase it blows something else !!! You had 3 !!! dips in power. Wow, I bet your standard ECU was crapping itself !!! Predator666 - yepp, that's excatly what mine is doing I thought it might have been the plugs were crapping out, but nope, it's gunna cost me more than a set of plugs...... J

A bit of a story to this one, so bare with me. I've got a late 1995 GTS-t. A while ago I blew the tacho output on my ECU (do'h). I used the blown ECU for a few months, and while it was in I got a big FMIC. All was sweeeeet I since got a second hand ECU and put that in. Tacho works well now but it feels like I'm hitting a fuel cut of some kind around 5000rpm. It doesn't stop, but it does slow down heaps (acceleration). I compared the ECU's and it looks like my original one has a different firmware installed (a later number is stamped on the main ECU). Soooooo, is it possible that different year ECU's had different maps? or better refined maps or fuel cuts???

Cool, LOL - I remember the first time I saw your car when I was going into the car park - I almost had a head on with someone cause I was thinking to myself "nice skyline"... LOL No worries about the handbrake doova's. Drop me a PM if you need a hand. J

G'day Oz, Welcome to da family How's things? I think I've seen your car parked up at Erindale a few times. The last time I saw it it didn't have any number plates !! Nice car. J
-
I actually scabbed a bit from a mate. They used the stuff to do office re-fits. The alubond stuff is used as the partitions between workstations !!!! Tell you the truth, I have no idea where you can buy the stuff from J

G'day Shell, Naaa, I haven't caught up with James since Saturday. I'll chat to him tonight more than likely. Yeah, it was a good day hay. The old sun licked my butt a bit, but thank god I've got olive skin
-
Neil, Yepp, mine is the same. Sometimes I can get in the car and look in the side view miror and actually see the fuel fumes coming out !!!! And after a long drive in hot weather the petrol cap will hiss for a while after I stop (Canberra people onthe last cruise to Corin Dam can confirm this !!!). I have to get around to fixing it one day........ One day....... J
-
I always dry the car off after a wash. I hate those little water marks you get over your car and windows Plus iff you leave it wet, once the wind get's up with a bit of dirt in it your back to where you started..... I use a chamios as well. After drying a panel, wring the chamios out so it's dry, then do the next panel - wring it out.. blah blah blah... It should come up sweet then Not sure about those electric buffers. They look tempting though !!
-
I'll be there with a group of mates (yepp, I have mates ), we should be there at around 10-11am ish. I'll keep an eye out for Shell and George - I haven't met anyone else yet....... Shell - I've got your number, so if I see you off in the distance I'll give you a buzz. J

Yepp, A better flowing head will give you more upper power. Also look at your dump pipe. They can choke the top end power heaps. J
