  1. Just as a comparison. I had a run with a new stock 300kw commodore a few weeks ago. Long straight open highway with no other cars around. Rolling start upto 120 it was neck to neck, then upto 140 I was JUST (and I mean JUST) starting to pull away. I've got a manual series 1 with full 3 inch exhaust, 12psi, pod filter with CAI. I think it's got a lot to do with the weight and also the gearing, I know the skylines haven't got much drivetrain loss compared to the comodores etc. But the major thing going against you is the auto, the auto's are close to a full second slower to 100km/h than the manuals are :burnout:
  2. He he he....... Shell - Just off topic quickly, weather is getting good, we'll have to do another BBQ/cruise soon.
  3. Cool, The spray that you used, does it have a mist spray or is it a stream spray?? Just wondering if a stream spray would damage it.... J
  4. Actually I don't think I've seen it But the airbag light goes on when I start the car, and then goes off a little while later, but I can't recall actually seeing the airbag computer !!!! It only has a single airbag on the steering wheel if that helps any. Soooo, where is it???? J
  5. So where excatly is the Airbag computer located?? Is it between the handbrake and the gearstick, between the gearstick and the stereo etc???? And are the gas canisters in the airbag or near it??? Anyone know what it looks like and what sort of plugs go into it??? J
  6. Do'h - you'll need this too !!!
  7. I try to get in front of them and pull the handbrake on   Naa, really I usually give them a wave and check out thier car. Skylines unite  :headbang:
  8. I've found that with most drivers you can slot them into 3 catagories; 1. People that have no idea what a skyline is and probably don't care. 2. People that know what they are and seem to show a bit respect to all drivers and just sit back. 3. Insecure drivers that sit up your bum to try to "see what she's got", and then, at the first chance they get, try and drag you off. It's funny cause most of the catagory 3 people I've come accross seem to be either 35-55 year old WRX and Magna drivers, or youngish blokes in Commodores...... But I did have a old (55+) lady in a new Commodore try to drag me one day
  9. Holly craparoonie Matt - that's a really impressive result. Well done. J
  10. LOL... About 6 months ago I was going past Phillip and that silver R32 GTR pull out of the car yard and he gave it a bit. Then when he saw me putting along in my GTS-t he gave it heaps, and I mean HEAPS. Now I'm not sure if it was cold or what, but the amount of black smoke that came out of the exhaust was amazing. It looked like the Batmobile there was so much smoke!!!!
  11. All turbo R33's have LSD as standard. But mechanical locking LSD's are an after market thing. Some loucky people got the Active LSD's, they are again different to normal LSD and mechanical locking LSD's. Sooooooo many diff's......... J
  12. I've got a mechanical in mine and your right, they are a bit noisey around tight slow corners. But apparently they give you the best grip for a (two wheel drive) rwd car. Straight line drags are great, corners are a bit strange at first, but once you realise that they are very pradictable your OK. They really aren't as bad as everyone says they are in the wet either. J
  13. I think a few blokes on here have the variable cam gears set up with pretty good results. Apparently they can only be put on the exhaust side due to the VCT on the inlet side. I might have to get one to reach the 200rwkw mark I'm crossing my fingers for........ I'll see how I go. Knowing my luck my fuel pump will crap itself - or I might spin the wheel off my turbo J
  14. I think it has come down to the police officer being very picky. As said before, if the officer 'thinks' it might be too loud then he can give you a defect. By the sounds of it, if you drive it over the pits as it is it'll pass. But take it to an exhaust place that can measure the DB of it, or failing that, take it to an engineer and get it tested/certified. I've heard of some police being so picky that they'll defect you for not having a "H" pattern on the top of your gearstick kob !!!!! I think we're pretty lucky here in CAnberra, the police are good. BTW: if you do have a silencer and bolt it in place they won't pass it cause it's removable. You'll have to get it tac welded in place which will stuff the look of you tip J
  15. Cool, Well if you see Mark let him know that I was the guy on the Hume a while back. Let him know that I think his car looks great. J
  16. Andrew, how's it going? How have you been? Gezzz, that's one hell of a car your looking at. If you end up getting it and I'm over your way, I might have to con you into taking me for a drive... I love that feeling of my eyes getting sucked into the back of my head J
  17. Yepp, no problems. But I'd say it's like any other modded ECU - it comes down to the tuning. J
  18. That's great. Thanks for the info, I was a little worried there for a while, but I think it'll be fine. I'm intending to run the car up on the dyno when I get the remapped one in, to do a good check on the car (A/F, boost, fuel preasure etc), and also do a before/ after comparison with a stock one. Aiming for 180-190rwkw.... Fingers crossed
  19. That's a great explaination. Thanks Just one further question. At idle (and upto ~1500rpm) when the cam is retarded, is this soley to help emmisions or does it increase power/torque down low as well??? The reason why I ask is that from what I know, the remapped ECU I'm getting only switches at the higher RPM (switchable at 3500, 4500, and 5500) to the retarded state. So the stock setup goes retarded>advanced>retarded And my setup will go advanced>advanced>retarded as the RPM goes up. Any idea??? Jayson
  20. The VCT is electronically controled by the ECU, or, it could be a combination of oil preasure and ECU signal. I'm getting a R32 computer remapped to suit my R33, and in the process they have to put a seperate board into the R32 computer so it can control the VCT in my R33. But like I said, it could be a combination of oil preasure and electronic???? So when the ECU senses oil preasure go over a certian point it kicks the VCT in..... On the remapped one I'm getting, the VCT will have 3 (??) different RPM points you can adjust it to. It will be interesting when I run it up on a dyno and see what the differences will be. J
  21. This might be a stupid question, but I'm new to the topic of cams. Do the GTR's (RB26) engine have VCT? If they don't, is it easy to put the GTR cam's into a RB25, would you need to disable/remove the VCT system for the GTR cams to work in the RB25??? Thanks J
  22. Hmmm, I was wondering why it was a bit sticky !!!! LOL - Na, you did a good job of polishing it, looks great. Thanks J
  23. Cool, So has your axletramp reduced, or is it less prone to axle tramp? And have you noticed any reduction in lateral grip at all??? Soooooooooooo many questions J
  24. I'll be putting mesh infront of the FMIC when I put it on. Stuff the stones, I'd rather loose a bit of cooling effect than damage the intercooler. The problem with painting the mesh black (or any dark colour) is that the stone chips to the mesh really stand out. I'm going to try and see what powder coating the mesh black will be like. See if it's a little bit more resistant to stone chips than just paint. I've got a mate that can do powder coating for about $30 or so. J
