So who has ventured out and bought some donuts? Not the iced type, but the ones to stop axle tramp? I'm after some before/after comments. I've 'heard' that you sacrifice lateral traction (cornering) for forwards traction. Is this true? Thanks guys J :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: BTW: I love this little headbanging dude...... :headbang:

I'm keen to go this year. Would be great if we could get a bunch of guys from SAU to go. With the amount of imports around these days compared to a few years ago, I reckon it'd be worth while. Good place to buy stff from too, all the major outlets will have stalls there and they usually have 'summernats discounts'. J

Guys, The cooler has been sold to...................ME I'm one happy chappy. Thanks for meeting me half way Prank. You rock :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: J

Essential gauges for a Turbo car
Jay95R33 replied to A31_Cefiro's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Your right on. The first gauges I got were a boost gauge and an oil temp gauge. Normal driving is around 65 degrees. Give it a bootfull and it'll shoot upto 85-90. J -
They look like crap. Actually I think you should give them to me Seriously - their damn nice...............

Not putting mine in. I just bought it for testing purposes. I know know my fridge works well !! J -
Engine oil is about 4.5 or 4.8 - something like that, that's if you change the filter at the sametime. If you buy a 5lt container of oil you'll have a bit left over anyway. And the tank holds 65lt, but the fuel light comes on at around 5-8lt to go til it's empty J

All this talk of ABS and nobody has fixed my ABS yet The damn thing has got me stuffed.........
-
Hmmm, I think it's at 7500rpm but could be wrong. I don't tend to look at the tacho when I'm going that fast But it wouldn't be much point going to 7500rpm cause on a stock motor peak power is at around 6400rpm. OH - 7500rpm low !!!! Remember we're talking about a 2.5 lt 6 cyl motor here !!!! What did the old red motors go to? About 4500rpm?? J

So guys, What should I get on the rear's if I've got GreenStuff's on the front with standard disks?? Any ideas........ I'm not sure if you can get greenstuffs for the rears.

Essential gauges for a Turbo car
Jay95R33 replied to A31_Cefiro's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Jaycar sell's a digital LCD temp meter that is pretty quick. I think it measures -40 to +120 or something. I bought one and played around with it for a while and it works well. It doesn't look that good, so it's not something you've mount permanently. OH - it has an alarm function too, so you can set it for say 40 degrees and if it goes past that a buzzer goes off, I was thinking about hooking the buzzer output to a relay and operating a intercooler water sprayer to it. But it's best to spray the intercooler before it gets too hot.... But I suppose you could just have the temp adjusted down a bit so it comes on sooner... I think I just opened up a big can of worms here.............. -
G'day Steve, Good to see your popping in to see us again - it's been a while. I might take you up on this offer - as scarey as it is but it would be good to know. Jayson

Hmmmm, I just bought a batch of leather for $115 per meter, this stuff is pretty good, but after looking at the cheaper stuff there's no way I would use anything less. Make sure you see what grade they are going to put in your car. But let me know how you go, I've got a silver 1995 R33 as well

New pod = good sound but less power??
Jay95R33 replied to riggaP's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yepp, that's it. Other filters might fit, but like said before, the height might be an issue, and the HKS pods have a little piece of rubber between the AFM and the pod. What I've done is make the partition come down that rubber piece on an angle (you can see that in the pic. Pending the size of your pod, and the way you run the partition down between the AFM and pod, it should fit a few other pods - not just the HKS one. J -
Yeah, I thought they where standard on the series II's... Maybe to start off with they just imported the ones with the ABS cause they would sell better. OH well.... Mines a series 1 and it's got ABS but it stopped working a few days ago... still have to figure out why it's stopped .....

Did someone mention the E6K??? The pic attached is the one we installed in a mates GT4. Took the good part of a full weekend (we had no idea!!! ), but it all worked fine. Boost controller works sweet right upto 19psi. 3 bar map is a must (1 bar vacume, 2 bar boost). And he sorted out the ilde adjustment so it's automatic now. Oh, and the aux rev limiter is great to use as launch control :) It was tuned by Mat the HitMan in Sydney - he did an amazing job. J

Prank, Is that that big arse intercooler (700x300) that you got from Doc that I was thinking about getting??? Hmmm, let me know about it. And some pics would be great. Thanks Jayson EDIT - if it is the one that I think it is I'll probably grab it from you. Drop me a PM or email...... KEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNN.......

Hmmm, I might check the connectors later. The story behind it is here http://forums.skylinesaustralia.com/showth...=&threadid=4320 I've been told that it should be a fuse cause the ABS computer is seperate to the ECU, but they both went at the sametime And like I said before - I've check all the fuses that I can find and they are fine (unless there are hidden ones....) J
-
LOL - yepp, I know for certain that the ABS isn't working And I've checked the fuses in the boot and all are OK
-
I know that there are diags for the ECU and the HICAS, but what about the ABS??? Anyone know if there are diags for the ABS? My ABS light is on (long story), I've checked the fuses in the boot, under the dash, and under the bonnet and their all OK. Help...... J

Gezzz, you've got a nice list of mods there. I bet it goes good. OK, I dare say that you have got a remapped ECU there. If your running a big arse turbo and different injectors there is no way the stock ECU will handle them. The R32 ECU's can be remapped to suit your mods. I think the best thing to do right now is to find a good dyno (and operator) and run your car up on the dyno. This will show how the A/F ratios are, fuel pressure etc. From there you'll be able to tell if you've got to re-tune it. It would be worth the $50-80 bucks. If you do need to re-tune it (I dare say the ECU has been mapped for 100 RON Jap fuel), then I think the best, and maybe the most cost effective thing to do is to get the ECU re-mapped again. I "think" some places can do it for around the $6-700 mark. What does everyone else think about this??? Come on people, have your say J

That's great, you did a great job of putting it in. Looks sweet. It puts a big smile on my face when I know I've helped someone out and it's come out that good. Cheers Jayson -

He he he, good to see people using the CAI template that I put up for everyone to use. How do you find it KillerT??? Was the design pretty close for your car and pod filter??? If anyone else wants to see the web site, it's here: http://www.users.bigpond.com/jayson77/ -
G'day Lee, I'd be careful if you've got the following stuf: BOV that vents into the air. POD filter Loud exhaust Lack of Donuts for the Policemen Too low Dark tint. Plus all the usual stuff like bald tyres and so on. Not sure about the SA Police, but the Police around the ACT are pretty good, if you don't drive like a D%$^&ead you'll be right. J
