  1. In some cases part of highflowing a turbo is to increase the size of the wastegate port so it can sustain the higher volume of air being passed through it, thus holding boost preasures down. I'd say this was either not done, or it was done but the increase in flow has exceeded the capabilities of even the modified wastegate. Basicaly - big bumer......
  2. rs73, Have a look at this link; http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/afc/index.html It's not in a Skyline, but the install process should be the same. If I was you I'd solder the wires cause I've had bad experiences with the crimp ones. If you have any doughts, get the workshop blokes to do it. Good luck Jayson
  3. Really?? Are they a mate of yours Matt? If so, let them kow that their car is a beast.
  4. This may have been posted somewhere else, but I thought I'd share it anyway. About 1.1 meg http://www.japanesemotorsport.com.au/gtr2.mpg  :burnout: :shake:
  5. My R33 used to do it too, until one day I noticed that my stock BOV had been blanked off so it wasn't being used. That fluttering is sometimes air being pushed back passed the turbo and out the filter   Not really a good thing
  6. Megs, Yeah, I was confused at that too !!! It says he is running a Power FC and a S-AFC... Why o why would you do that?
  7. The car is a R33 GTS-t. Dig this - just did the phone around to get some FM901's (225/50/16). Prices range from $200 each to $271 each!!!! Apparently Dunlop have put their price up as of tomorrow, so for any store that needs to order them in they have to quote the higher (after increase) price !!!! I've found a place that has them in stock so I'm hoping to get them before the weekend........ Sorry - that was a bit off topic - I was just shocked !! J
  8. The mechanical temp meter uses an adaptor that replaces your sump plug. The adaptor is hollow in the middle, so you can screw the probe of the temp meter in the adaptor. It works pretty good. The problem I had with mine is that VDO didn't make adaptors to suit the size of the small sump plugs in the R33 GTS-t's. I ended up buying a larger adaptor and taking it to a metal turning place and getting them to put a smaller and finer thread on it. Cost was $135 for the 52mm VDO gauge that came with a 4 metre capilory, $19 for the adaptor, and $20 to get the right tread put on the adaptor. Works sweet as and doesn't leak oil at all. J
  9. Hmmmm, tempting.... I'll let you know. J
  10. Doc, At the moment I'm running Sava Raptex's - I must say that they are the worst tyres I have ever run on ANY car !!! But when I got them I was strapped for cash and needed to go over the pits - I really can't complain as they cost me $93 each (225/50/16's) and I've got 12 months from them. I'll be getting the Dunlop FM901's in the same size so I'm hoping for a massive increase in traction but as you said, I'm not sure if they will fix the axle tramp. The suspension is pretty tight in the back (which doesn't help). I'll let you know how I go after the new tyres go on. Thanks Jayson
  11. Thanks for the explaination Doc, I might have to get some of these as I get tramp with the current tyres. I'm changing tyres in a week or two, I'll see how it is then. J
  12. I'd get the oil presure if your standard one is a bit dodgy. Other than that, have you thought about a oil temp gauge?
  13. Doc, Can you explain where and how they mount. I've seen the pineapples on JMS that your talking about, but I could never workout where and how they work. Do they work like a shock absorber for your sub frame or something? And how do you change them between grip and drift? Is it just locating them in a different part of the sub frame? And the big question (and last - sorry ) are they legal??? Thanks J
  14. Zacos, As Drifter said, the HICAS should be fine with the lowering. Just keep and eye on the insides of the tyres, sometimes you can get bad wear. Drifter, Nope, I'm a tuggies person
  15. Do'h, you hit the new thread button instead of the reply button. Don't matter. Cool, I was wondering who owned the nice black one that hung out down there Mines just got the stock wheels on but one day I'll get some mags. Heaps of places sell front mounts nowadays, you've just got to do your homework and find a place that does a good job. I'm sure Joe out in Mitchell would sell them, but I'm not sure what he sells them for and what type he makes up. Might be worth having a word to him next time your out there. J
  16. G'day Zacos, Good to see you found us Which side of town do you live on? Just wondering cause I see a black R33 with nice mags down at a certain pub some Fridays. J
  17. Yepp, I've got them in my GTS-t. I haven't have any miss fires or anything like that (touch wood). Last time I looked at them they were a little dirty from the typical R33's overfueling while on boost. Are you getting yours cleaned? Is it possible to clean plugs when they get fouled? BTW: they sell for about $25 each :uh-huh: :uh-huh:
  18. G'day Scott, Put it in gear and jump under the car and check for any play in the drive shaft. It shouldn't very much at all. If it does then it could be one of your yokes have too much play in it, which makes some slack in the drive train. If not that, it could be a bearing maybe? Not sure. If it's not the driveshaft yoke thingy, you might be better off taking it to a machanic. J
  19. I don't actually have one, but I think Matt (Whatishisname) has one. Matt - where are you??
  20. Ummmm.. A Power FC and a big ass frount mount intercoola !!!! He he he Hay Shell, did you get your timing belt changed on your last service at that place in fyshadick? J
  21. Hmmm, that ECU doesn't look like it's been modified...
  22. The only thing I can think of is maybe your Stock ECU wasn't really stock. It might have had a retuned chip in it. Either that or they got the first (pre PFC) dyno run wrong. The big question is "does it feel faster???"
  23. Just make sure there aren't any repeaters on channel 33 in your area. Repeaters use the 1-10 channels to transmit on, and the 31-40 channels to receive on. But I think for these little handhelds you'll be right, unless your within 4-5km of one. J
  24. What boost levels were you running with the standard computer, and what boost was your running with the PFC? Were they the same? Just a stab in the dark but maybe your running less boost with the PFC? J
  25. Don't worry, it's cause there isn't any globe in there at the moment. Once you put another globe in there it will load down the system and everything will be normal again. Just make sure you put in the correct watt globes. It freaked me out when I blew a globe !!! J
