CAMS VSSC Round 6 Hosted by SAUVIC Sat Sept 30th
Subarau replied to acsplit's topic in Archived Events
Ok a Turbo Prius, really Whee I wonder what category /class I put that in?. A turbo is not OEM so it cannot go in road registered. So J. 1800*1.7 = 3060 so Class = 3 ( maybe a 1500) But it had a 50KW 400NM electric motor, whats that in cc. A bad luck it is in J4 or if I am feeling mean K4 against the ex V8 Supercars. -

Sau Vic 2012 Motorsport Championship Round 6 - Winton 1St Sept

Glad you all had a good day. Amazing range of cars, even porsche drivers like walls. Was fun reading this thread. ( next time ask me to lunch .. Winton food is ;-( ) New wrx motorsport team isnt as organised as the old one , so sign in and scrutineering cause late starts. Anyway Dont forget next years CAMS sprint series. Will be 2 at PI and 2 at Sandown ( running CAMS state level events at Winton is just to hard/expensive) Plus a national event @ PI in November. We (CAMS organising commitee) have asked wrx to run one of the PI ones. It will be a blast. -
Now down to 40 , bookings coming in slow and steady. Everyone remember to sacrifice a few pit bulls to the weather gods.
-
Hi We have a several SAU members in Group 5 Either people doing full driver training or just need a few sessions to feel safe at PI Please can you help me look after them Royce
-
driver training will by CAMS rules be all in one group = 5 (what is up on my froums i am still playing with) Even if people haven't put themselves in Driver Training but have a CAMS licence starting in 111 and havent given any experience they end up in Driver Training as well. That extinguisher thing wont go away will it., The upgrading is in process and we are doing it to help people come up to speed before its locked down. I am looking forward to the Speads as well and we have another clubman now. 12 Entries to go,
-
Fill up quick is an understatement, I aready have 10 entries since midnight Just remember its PI , the weather at Sandown is a nice day at PI.
-
Ha a bit damp at Sandown, maybe I should have booked that tray tow as well Nah they will need it at PI this weekend. I have put someone in a Nissan and from SAU in the Driver Training assessment group 6. As its a new license and no experience listed on form. I am putting this group out first so that they can be helped. If they are all safe and been introduced to the track , I can them move them into group 5. So we then only have the 5 groups I planned and everyone gets maximum track time. I would greatly appreciate one of you taking them under your wing by signing on as a Driver Trainer and giving them the benefit of your experience. (like dont try to brake from 200kph in the wet going into turn one at the 50meter mark)

I worked at the track that was put in at TopGear live at showgrounds. The drifters did demo laps. I have never picked up so much smashed fibreglass or seen so many panels held on with race tape in my life. They actually had panels held on with ties that were designed to break and fall off rather that smash them.

THe noise checking isnt done by WRX club staff but by Sandown. So its out of our control. I dont recall anyone ever being pipped by them on a WRX day. My noisy friends tell me the idea is to make sure your exhaust pipe that pokes out under rear door is facing away from the EPA guy. They must have been narked by the epa.. i saw ad in paper for a parttime job monitoring .. i was going to apply, but it might have been a conflict of interest. Yes you can buy a CAMS license on day from us. As I said earlier about the fire extinguisher ... i dont expect scrutineers to be checking bolt size this time round. But cable ties are probably out. Pity I reckon you can build a full race car out of cable ties and race tape.

Hi This is inline with an upgrade that is happening to future CAMS regs and i put it in for future events at the request of our Senior Scrutineer (Dru). My feeling is that its more to stop some bad hack jobs at this stage. But it will be policed in higher grade competitions. FIV people hate to be hit on head in an overturned car by a extinquisher that was held on by 1 self tapping screw. (rofl I wrote the self tapping screw comment before reading all the posts) I do understand the comments about not being able reach fire extinguisher if belts fully tightened, the thing is statements in Sup Regs actually come from CAMS. If we dont put it like that we dont get a permit.. I assume their thinking is more for cars with street safety belts. For a dedicated track car if it was me I would put in a fire extinquisher that could be set off from a toggle in reach. I mean if i am in a car that has rolled and doors are jammed and i am upside downI want to have something I can reach. BTW did you see the youtube of the V8 supercar fire in WA. Yah cant trust fireys.. he ran straight past the driver whose gloves were on fire to put out the car. I mean his job is to save the driver, not the car. BTW nice to see all your entries
-
What he said... Bob Jane is getting all my money, please come along so i dont need to beg on streets And I do need some Nissans to show up those silly drifting Holdens we had at HH. Entries close Tomorrow week
-
Hi all Nice to see you all entering Strictly we prefer people to be a member of a real club for all our events ... keeps the problems away (but if known by people here its fine by me) For CAMS registered events you must be a member of an affiliated club with them ... well you cant get one of their licences without that. anyway. Re the Bonnet tie downs .. i think a modern two stage one should be ok. But I have seen modern cars lose whole bonnet at Winton. Tying it down is worth while just to make sure. If you do a lot of track work its worthwhile putting in pins (just make sure they are into real metal).. because i have seen car where they pulled out If the Scrutineer (who is high level CAMS one) says it needs extra I have to accept his ruling (he outranks me ;-( ). Currently 36 entered .. i am going to lose money, but you are going to have a lot of track time Bl00dy Hell those photos of Richo's wrecked car .. it looks much worse than the other photo i saw.
-
Nah sorrry cash on the fridge .. ie Formal entry and pay before go sorry but for several reasons we dont accept entries on day. However if your membership to SAU is in progress I will accept some form of semi proof on that.(on the day) So enter

Hi all Its nice to see your entries coming through for our HH hills rounds. A few more would be nice ... at 22 entries you people get lots of runs ... but i lose a few 1000' $ Haunted hills is a great spectator/photographers track as well, and the food isnt bad. And yes that rotary is A03 for our championship ... if you come first against all those Bl00dy V8 holdens I will give you a trophy.
-
woops yep 13th Feb...hSenior moment sorry
-
Hi Skylines hope you all had a great break and all ready for motorsport. I have the supp regs and the online form ready for Haunted Hills on the 13th of March here is link to MS web page. WRX MS I noticed someone speculating on potential prices. HH will be $95 and they vary up to $220 for PI as the highest. The Calder one will be daytime in the end .. because apart from the spectacle of glowing brake rotors its better value for money
-
Our main problem this year was that a V8Ride day .. overflowed into our time. So we had location problems etc etc etc.
-
Hi The Calder date I am now reasonably sure of (well as sure as anything held there) I am sort of debating if it should be twilight again or not. There are advantages in twilight ..cheaper , great experience. There are disadvantages .. track hire is for 6 hrs not 9. I am running a vote on our forums ... but what do you lot think. Royce from WRX club
-
Hi At the moment we have 42 entrants for this event, so lots of tracktime. If you are coming bring lots of fuel so you dont run out like everyone did on our last meeting there. At the moment we have more wrx's than others .. so come and annoy us. lets see 42 entries in 5 groups ...wow. I dont think we will get past 60 so its will be a ball.
-
Unforgiving place isnt it. I think we actually had our first real damage at any one of our (WRX) track day at that track. I sort of agree running both layouts on the day sort of slowed it down. It also sort of stops people (by having to restart again on different layout) right when everyone is dialing in on their times. Now everyone has experienced both its interesting to see the comments. If you were only to do one layout in the day, which one would you prefer.? The evo caught something in the grass (when they went off) on their front tow loop which then ripped front of car off. I feel very sorry for them. It was nice to chat with you all on the grid.

Well its working at the moment for me I do not know why it wasn't working. I havent got any reports from the web site to say there was a problem. who knows never mind If there are any problems email me [email protected]
