  1. Hi Guys The metal frame underneath my driver seat is broken, making my seat really uncomfortable. It rocks back and forth freely too. Is it possible just to buy the frame? If not, does anyone have a seat for sale?
  2. hahahaha!
  3. Same here. Thanks for the info. We need more people like him in aussie.
  4. Ok, thanks guys. I'll go with this one then : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/6-New-NGK-I...sQ5fAccessories As for the O2 sensors, Nissan quoted me $190 for each. I think i'll just go with that.
  5. After getting my problem sorted, the next step for me is to change the spark plug and rear O2 sensors. 1. I wanna get a set of 6 spark plugs from ebay : NGK Iridium. which one would fit my car? LFR6AIX-11 or LFR5AIX-11? 2. Where can i get a set of rear 02 Sensors ? How much do they cost? Thanks in advance
  6. ****************************MAJOR UPDATE & CONCLUSION************************************************ YES! Finally fixed! After a month of horror and a long list of possible culprit, I finally figured out what was causing the problem. The problem was...(drum roll) :FAULTY SPEED SENSOR After spending a week at Tech Transmission with no end result and spent close to $500, I went and took the car to Jamie at Autoworkshop at welshpool cause i couldn't get an appointment soon enough with Fabcar. He hooked up a scan tool, recorded the datalog and told me to go for a drive. As soon as the car was jerky i took a look at the scan tool and the vehicle speed sensor was going haywire. Jumped from 50 to 75 dropped to 4 then finally made the transmission go on limp mode. Sure enough after that he retrieved a P0720 (Vehicle Speed Sensor) Error from the TCM. He had a wicked scan tool. Got a replacement from Nissan ($300) and fitted it in today. Problem = Gone I'm so happy i can eat a horse. Here's the part no for the speed sensor: 31935 - 5P002 I hope this info would be useful to anyone who's experiencing the same problem. Thanks to Jamie & Brett at Autoworkshop who diagnosed and tested everything on the car. Thanks to everyone here who’s helped. Sorry for the long post, i'm just too excited right now, My baby lives again!
  7. Hi Jusr recently changed my oil. Costed around $650 per 4 Ltrs. You need around 8 ltrs to do a change. Any Nissan dealer can get the oil for you. Just make sure you call different ones in your area to compare the price. Labour should be around $100 - $150 Here's the part no : KLE51-00004 Goodluck, let us know how it goes.
  8. What a champion you are mate! Thanks a million! I'll get in touch with them to see if they can sort me out. Thanks again!
  9. Even it is possible i don't think it's as easy as it sounds. What about the ECU,TCM and harnesses? I'm gonna have to replace those as well right? Not to mention the amount of time it would take to tackle a project that big. Not worth the effort i say. Although..it would be nice Congrats on the purchase. Just make sure you check the condition of the CVT fluid soon. If it needs replacing, do it. Forking out $1500 now is a lot better than copping huge bills later. That said, i'm 100% sure now that my problem is electrical. Not mechanical. The shitty part is finding out what. Right now, after eliminating dozens of possible causes, TCM malfunction is my no.1 suspect. I'm taking the car for a full service at Fabcar next week and hopefully I'll make some progress..somehow. I'll keep yous posted. Doddy
  10. Ok, after a week sitting in the tranny shop, they couldn't figure out what's causing the problem. They checked the speed and temperature sensors, nothing. Opened the transmission and checked everything mechanical, nothing. They wanted to keep the car for further testing, but they're taking their sweet time with it i can't afford to hire a car for another week. Drove it home, boom, it happened again. It was shifting harshly then got stuck in limp home mode all the way . I've been on the net all day trying to figure this out and came across a service bulettin for 03 G35s. I feel like i'm on to something here. My symptoms are pretty much the same. Transmission shifts erratically, the same codes are stored (p1710 etc). They mentioned the only fix is to replace the TCM. I shot an email to the guys at cvt.co.nz to ask if they can get some. In the meantime, any of you guys know where i can get one? I'm at the end of my wits with this car, and i can't even sell it at this condition ITB02_074a.pdf
  11. Hahaha! i don't think he'll let it out of his sight long enough for that. Yes, it was all in japanese. He said he's got a customer from japan that's gonna help him translate it. Sorted.. I hope
  12. I just had the car towed to Wangara. The place is called technical transmission and the guys name is Robin. We had a bit of a chat and he's sounds pretty confident. I asked him whether he had worked on a gt8 before and he pulled out a huge skyline gt8 workshop manual! I've never seen anything like it it's got the cvt transmission diagram to the smallest bits. So I'm pretty happy with that. I hope it turns out good. Will keep yous updated
  13. Easy solution. Put this sign behind your car lol
  14. Agreed. I tried talking to a Nissan dealer here and they failed to gain my confidence. Then i tried Fabcar, more than half their car on the lot is V35s with some GT8s. They guy was friendly and helpful on the phone. After a lengthy discussion he referred me straight away to Robin T at Wangara, a CVT specialist. They said if Robin can't fix it no one can So i'm getting the car towed on Monday and we'll see how we go from there. I put aside $5000 to fix this problem. I hope it won't be more than that, as i'm sure now that it's merely a sensor problem not the stepper motor. And i'm also hoping that the parts can be purchased from Nissan Australia. So wish me luck guys, i'll keep all of you posted. Cheers
  15. Yep, already been communicating back and forth with the guys in NZ. I read through the workshop manual and learned how to pull a code off the TCM without a scan tool. It returned a few errors including Oil Temp Sensor fault. Anyways, the car is going in for a full diagnostic and a major service at Fabcar soon. Fingers crossed.I'll let you guys know how it all goes.
  16. Well, i did mine about 6 months ago and it's still running sweeet. Here's my post on that. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ca...amp;hl=carputer G33k helped with idea of using a fabricated frame for the screen, which is the most fidgety part to do I can vouch for Brian too since he installed my DVD deck, but $2500? Really? Just do your research and buy the ingredients yourself. You'll be amazed of the savings
  17. Hi Guys Really should have bought a manual.. My GT8 has been a total pain in the butt ever since the transmission played up. Sudden jerks and loss of power happened some time ago which lead me to believe the oil needed to be replaced. After an oil change about three months ago everything was good, until the same exact problem appeared again. But this time a simple restart of the engine couldn't fix it. The car would be driving literally stuck in first gear and won't shift. The only way to get it going again is to leave it to cool before i can drive it again. So I got a scan tool, checked if there was any error code logged and found nothing. But this time the cvt light in my dash flashed about 16 times when I restart the engine. After consulting a cvt specialist and googling around, it might be the stepper motor. Where the heck can I buy this part from? Is this a common part you can get from Nissan? I understand that there's not that many gt8 owners here. But I also posted this hoping to discourage people from getting a gt8. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic car! You just gotta make sure you got the cash and time (I lack both) if something goes wrong with it. Sorry for the long post and the whinge. Really should have bought a manual..
  18. I would love to get my hands on a set of those. But is it aussie compliant? I heard that the settings/height of the headlight is different in US.
  19. Hmm, not good mate. I myself own a 2003 sedan with CVT trans. It's gonna be even harder for me to sell it. Can i get a link to your car ad?
  20. Nope. Just had it machined. Good as new
  21. Ok, pretty much the same thing happened to me before and it turned out to be the brake wear indicator that was making all the grinding noise. It was gone when i changed the brake pads.
  22. Suncorp. One of the few companies willing to insure my car here in Perth. And yes, it is a genuine Nissan windshield replacement That's why i have to wait 6 weeks for the import.
  23. Yep, better do that man. I thought i'd never have a use for it. Boom, just happens. EDIT : And you know what the funny thing is? I haven't even made that much payment since i joined them a year ago. Mwahaha
  24. Hehehe, i drove on a freeway the other day and a stone flew and made a tiny crack on the windshield. When i got home the crack spread across the windshield/ Thank god i added a windshield cover option on my insurance. Put a claim through and they sorted it out. Got a call from O'briens and they told me that the windshield has to be imported from japan. I asked how much for curiosity sake and he said $2000 n Does it really really cost that much? Or are they marking it up to get more moolah from my insurance? Either way i don't have to spend a cent..
  25. Yeah, i usually change the mode whenever i feel like it. And i've always noticed the gearbox go to the right gear according to my speed. This time it didn't when i let go of the accelerator. If there is a fault code logged in the ecu wouldn't the check engine light turn on? Man i really need to get my hands on a BlaztII cable.
