I was careful, the guy behind me wasn't grrr

From what I'd read the ku36 wasn't actually a semi-slick? I didn't rotate the tyres before and don't really plan on doing so this time so should be ok in that respect. Anyway I just thought I'd go for something a little better than the bog standard cheapo and the ku36 seemed to be regarded pretty well
-
Well decided to go with 235/40/18 all round, opting for the kumho ku36, seems to be reasonably well regarded. Saw optimal1 had them for about 220 but I think with shipping it'd equate out to about 250 a tyre and I can get that locally with balancing /fitting too so just have to find a time to do it! Pretty cool looking tread pattern, not that know sfa about tread pattens but it's a little different to usual

Cheers muchly for the replies all! Very helpful looks like I'll be sussing out some prices on the weekend lol

Ah ic.. maybe I'll just replace the two that have got wear and keep the fine 235s for the front. Bummer can't go any wider, it's not horrible by any means would just be nice for have something bigger (also less chance of scraping the crap out of it should I nudge a curb). Does it not look odd though if you're running different size rear tyres to front?

Hay guys, one of my tyres decided to wear away on the inside to the extent where its gone flat and basically its cactus. Another is starting to wear in a similar way so I've swapped to a spare set for now and figure I'll get all four replaced. I'm currently running 235/something/something, I can check specifics but as far as width goes what is currently on there is stretched (I think) and I don't really love the look cause it makes it look a bit round at the edges. I'd prefer it to sit flush with the rim itself but I have nfi what size goes with that and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or similar setups? Cheers!

Heya, was grabbing something out of my centre console today and all of a sudden it felt less springy than normal, and then sure enough I heard a little ding/clunk and realised that one of the bars that hold the springs in place had fallen out. I had this problem one other time and it was an easy enough fix as I found all the parts had fallen down and were sitting behind the ash-tray. This time all I could find was the spring and I can only conclude that the bar has fallen in between the carpet and the body of the car or something to that effect. Anyway getting to the point I really don't want to go pulling out the centre console and lifting up the carpet just to possibly not even find this one measly piece so I was wondering if anyone for whatever reason had a spare one of these pieces or point me as to where I might acquire one that'd be awse. I'll be trying Bunnings tomorrow anyway though, as I figure I might be able to find a piece the same width and then I can just cut it to size.

R33 - How-to Fix The Auto Power Window Relay
Benben replied to Lazy-Bastard's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
Lazy-Bastard you are a legend!! I searched and searched the first time my power window stopped going (curiously in cold/wet weather as well) and all I ended up finding was a bit of a ghetto fix of turning the relay upside down and whacking it then trying again.. it worked, for only so long. Took my relay apart and found about 3-4 dodgy looking solder joints and once I fixed them up it worked like a charm! I haven't had a good play with it yet now it's fixed but I hope it means the end of the flick down before up when trying to get the window to go up sometimes, and then there was the gentle elbow whilst holding down to get it to go down.. ahh. -
I was delivering out in Balcatta when the golf-ball sized and bigger hail started slamming down, it was crazy.. couldn't really do much else than sit there and listen to it pounding down. Heaps of dents in the roof.. but work van so not too worried I was however sitting there thinking oh shit, how is my skyline parked in Osborne Park holding up!! Couldn't see anything in the rainy weather when I got back but in the dry today I found about 6-7 tiny dings Nothing too much though, but I would be curious to see what the cost is involved in getting them pulled out. Couldn't believe how much damage was done so quickly, whilst I was sitting there every car in the lot got pummelled with a number getting broken windows. Driving along Wanneroo road there was heaps of flooded sections.. drove behind a nice black lexus that got it particularly bad, smashed back window, cracked front, looked like a golf ball with dents all over.. only just got back to work on time but ended up leaving straight away cause the power was out anyway haha.

It's Summer, It's Hot, And I Have No Air Con
Benben replied to Blinky101's topic in Western Australia
Hey guys since there is already an air con thread I thought I might chime in with a query. Despite me initially thinking my a/c merely needed a regas, it turns out that the pulley idler for the a/c in my R33 had seized up, and the belt has come off at some stage and been shredded. Anyway I've sourced a replacement pulley idler so that's fine and dandy, but I forgot to enquire about the pulley itself. Are these just generic pulleys that most mechanics/auto stores will have? Or do I need to go back and get a specific replacement pulley? Cheers -
I've always wondered what the GTR rims would look like white! I actually quite like the look and have wondered about doing it since I got my Skyline. I don't think I'd worry with the caps though, prefer the look without

Haha didn't that guy get his license suspended and is being tagged as "oldest hoon" ?

Was good fun!

Should probably be coming along tonight

Ah, thank you.

I've not been on a cruise before, will the maps be handed out when we arrive there or do we print at home?

- Fuel light doesn't seem to want to turn on anymore (guessing just need to change a light/fuse) - Small front bumper scrape added this after only a few months of owning my Skyline. - I think there might be a belt loose

Front Bumper Paint Scrape, Touch Up Or?
Benben replied to Benben's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Oh much appreciated! As far as I know my car has factory paint so I'll check out that thread on Nissan paint codes and hopefully I should be a go-er! -
Grr, managed to scrape my bumper the other day when I parked a bit close to a curb. Was just wondering if I might get away with a some touch up paint, and if so what does that normally run? It's quite a small scrape so I wonder if it's worth doing anything else, I know some scrapes are going to be inevitable but was hoping the bulk would remain out of sight under the bumper.

Ah dang.. I forgot about this. Was free too, oh well.

Ah thank you for the suggestions, I hadn't even considered the globe itself.. I think I'll be looking to change the stereo system soon (still stock tape deck from Japan hehe) so when I am pulling the pieces off I'll check the light out as well. In the meanwhile I may try the other method, is there any detriment to letting a turbocharged car run completely out of fuel though? I'm not quite as car savvy as I'd like to be and I seem to remember someone telling me diesels don't fare well if you run it empty, but I'm not sure if it applies to performance cars on unleaded/premium also. The only car I've ever accidentally run out of fuel in is my old 1986 Corolla, but running out of fuel in that was probably the least of my concerns

Hey all, I've had my R33 for a couple of weeks now, however I haven't ever noticed the fuel light come on. I was just wondering where the light normally comes on, and when it usually does? On my first tank I had been driving pretty hard so wasn't quite sure when I would see the light turn on (the previous owner said he got about 420 before the fuel light switched on, and he used it as his daily driver), from memory I let the fuel level get about half way between the final notch before I filled up again. I didn't see the fuel light turn on at any point though, I just wanted to make sure because I was new to the car (and had driven that tank hard) I didn't end up running empty somewhere. I think I got about 370 to that tank, though I cannot for the life of me remember how much fuel I put in. The next tank I drove pretty conservatively, putting my foot down for a take off here and there only when necessary, and my plan was to wait until I saw the fuel light before I filled up, so I could start getting an idea of how much I'll get to a tank in relation to how I drive. So I was waiting, and waiting, I think the car clicked over to about 450 so I glanced at the dash to see how I was going on fuel and the needle was below the last notch! lol so I made a bee line for the closest servo and filled up. From memory I think I got about 50/55 litres in. However the fuel light (at least as far as I could see) never turned on.. So I was basically wondering when the fuel light normally turns on for others, and where exactly the fuel light is located? I had just assumed that it would be in the dash somewhere like all the normal engine/oil/etc lights are, but considering I'd taken the car to below the final notch of fuel I thought it could possibly be located somewhere else that I just haven't noticed.. Anyway, any thoughts and help would be appreciated!

Wow those look like a pretty good package! My only concern holding me back from buying any of these big screened units is the issue that Scott has had just above, due to the size of the screen the light output might get a bit irritating at night. Is there any way to adjust the brightness or temporarily turn off the screen only?
