I'll stick with havin my small groups or even by myself. At least then i am safe! Flirty 2, if she comes on here. Ok ppl. I am just interested to get other ppls feed back in regards to Auto meter gauges and their accuracy. I have had a few over the years but the last 2 have been useless. Gauge 1:Sport Comp Boost Gauge= 1-2psi high and same on vac side Gauge 2:Pro Comp Liquid Filled Boost Gauge=1-1.5psi low and same on vac side Now how do i know that they are wrong?? I have a Wolf 3D and a Blitz ID 2 boost controller and they both read EXACTLY the same. My set up is boost gauge and boost controller running off the same vac port on the side of the inlet manifold on a S4. Any one else had similar trouble?? Or can help work out why they are so far out?? p.s the pro comp liquid filled is BRAND NEW Glenn

Hey PPL. Sorry steve i have missed heaps of this tread. I had another aweful experience just b4 christmas. For those that don't know i am an Adelaide based importer specializing in 15yr old imports. I had a white 1988 Stock Rx7 to take thru. I was first up at 8am, now i got knocked back for....... washer jet wasn't aimed 100% at rear windsecreen and same for front. (rx7's have 2 jets in one on either side) one of each did hit the windscreen turbo timer wiring which once they pulled it hard enough came out and guess what...... now the power aeiral doesn't work tyres which had 75%tread left but were mounted on r32 skyline wheels. reflectors on the lower rear quarters. because they were red!!!!! 5.5 hrs later these incompetent wankers passed me. Now i chased it all up and everything on this car was 110%legal. Something has to be done. Glenn

Hey Guys. OK i have a ripper for you. Being an importer and all i HAVE to deal with these gorillas on a weekly basis. Now we will start with the ride height at the front which was 4mm under height, then move onto the seat belt which they pulled a thread, therefore its a frayed seat belt, then last and not least and i love this one, the side indicators on this particular car were a different shade of orange, side to side. I got rejected on these tiny little items. The seat belt was fine i still have it as proof. I agree something has to be done as it is getting so out of hand. They have basically the power of god over us, and answer to no one. Your right in saying that they have very little engineering experience. I would say less than 5% of them have any at all. Now it is time something is done about it, but and this is the main problem i see. They will not listen, because they see us as trying to get the rules changed to suit ourselves. Anyone under the age of 35 is considered an idiot according to these apes. The police force shouldn't have the power to defect for anything other than tyres or smoke taken away because they are some of the biggest culprits of time wasting i have ever seen in my life. They know NOTHING about the ADR's but are given the power to defect what they think is illegal. I know how thick, corupt and incompetent some of these ppl are. On sunday morning i picked a car up from my storage area, loaded my tools into the back, put my trader plate on and proceeded back to my house. Now on anzac hwy, i had 3 officers pull me over on motor bikes. Start telling me they had seen me driving up and down the bay for 30mins, said they recognised me because the car had no front plate. FFS i was on traders, ITS AN IMPORT. No it gets better. I get abused, told that i am a liar, so i went off, told them to **** off call my dad at the storage yard and ask him exactly when i had left. Then i was told i can't call them liars, so i asked for badge numbers. Well they couldn't back away quick enough. First of all they cannot dispute my use of my trader plates as i was working, there were visable tools in the car. Second they invented a story to suit themselves. Did not believe it was my plate(its even in my name) Someone needs to be accountable because these ppl have sooo much power, sooo little knowledge. Anyways thats my bitch for tonight. Sorry guys. Glenn

Mr-s413bt replied to 2Much's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Hey Driftt. I think your mistaken there. Now from what DOTARS actually say a vehicle is considered imported once it ENTERS the port where it is to land. "An Import Approval MUST be obtained before a vehicle is imported. Importation occurs once the vehicle is brought within a port for the purposes of landing it. For example, a vehicle being transported by ship is “imported” once the ships enters the destination port. " That is a direct quote from DOTARS. Glenn -

WARNING: 15 year rule changes
Mr-s413bt replied to 2Much's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Hey DRIFTT. Yeah basically you get a full inspection here. We need to take basically everything to get our cars through aswell. Gauges, boost controllers, turbo timers, aftermarket steering wheels and gear knobs, um strut braces, no coil over suspension. It can be a bit distressing at times! lol -

Mr-s413bt replied to 2Much's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Hey Regan. Living in WA must be an arse raping expierence. Here in SA it doesn't cost anywhere near that much to get a 15yr old import on the road. Side intrusion bars are THE most expensive part of it and even they only cost 500 with an engineers certificate. Basically we can do the whole lot for around $1100-$1500 +stamp duty and rego. Thats it. Once ya have ya car that is. Now all of the cars i have brought in, have been great cars. I know this because EVERYONE of them is still on the road, not requiring any major work. All of the ppl i have sold them i still speak to and see. Glenn P.s. All these warranties are, are insurance policies. They are backed by basically insurance companies. There is a limit to how much you can claim aswell. The yards usually figure it into the price. -

WARNING: 15 year rule changes
Mr-s413bt replied to 2Much's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Hey Guys. Ok i know first hand whats happening with the 15yr rules. I have been on the phone for almost an hour, trying to work out how they intend on implementing this rule. Now it is NOT a change in the rule just a change in the way its interpreted. It has always been a 15yr rule, not a 14yr and 11 months rule. Now basically they want the importer to prove what year(easy) and now the month also(hard) Now they have said either dereg papers from japan, Proof from the manufacturer or a date and corresponding VIN list. Now i don't know anyone who can supply me with the list of numbers i need. But basically its to stop the potential flood of 89 models in jan 2004. Being an importer sure is fun atm, with raws now this what mroe can they throw at us???? Glenn somertoncarimporters.com
