I agree, but some people don't believe in listening to experience these days Paul. It has a Jap brand name on it, must be good. Unfortunately most of their gear comes out of China now anyway, as with most products, and there are usually better parts around that don't have the Jap brand tax added. The best thing you can do is let the engine builder/mechanic sort out the springs for you, he probably has more experience with parts that work well for your application. I have seen a few brand new valve springs snap lately after fitting, they are so high tensile these days it is getting commonplace. If you supply the parts you will have no 'warranty' when they fail. The spring supplier will only replace the spring, not fit it for you... Same goes for most parts.

M35 Burning Smell And Smoke?
scotty nm35 replied to jackbh241's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
The passenger rocker cover seal goes hard due to the turbo heat, it weeps down onto the turbo causing an oil smell when you put the heater on. As the gasket seal is only $25 I would just change it, well known problem. It will take you a while to change it the first time, the plenum needs to come off. Part No: 13270-AL612 -
Summary Of P1-110 Of The M35 Info Uber Thread

Mine is still going I think, I lent it to Jase a year ago. 13 years is pretty reliable if you ask me. If only Nissan still sold that original part, not the part they sell now which only lasts a few weeks. (if you are lucky.) My aftermarket ones seem to be lasting fine Leon... -
I need to guarantee my welds to some extent, and I don't think that is possible welding to an old cast manifold. I have had issues with old used turbo housings too. I much prefer an unused housing to weld a gate to as the carbon hasn't impregnated the cast iron. I can certainly weld it though, as can any fabricator, but there is no way to clean up the inside with a die grinder if welding to the manifold.
-
FYP. Understand, the wastegate isn't open a lot of the time, so not only do you have a tiny pipe off the turbine, you are wasting the flow the gate pipe can supply also. Bellmouth wins with response every time on internal gate turbos, if you must run one. I can't stand most internal gate setups personally.
-
^ This. The housing is much easier to die grind internally, and the flow is vastly improved using the 90 degree bend, rather than just drilling a hole and welding a pipe at a 90. Much less chance of cracks and heat expansion on the housing, plus it is cheaper and easier to swap if it ever does let go. I much prefer welding to the housing, so much that I won't weld to a manifold anymore. Welding to old cast iron, or any used exhaust component is a pain as the carbon gets into the weld, even after it's cleaned thoroughly.

I haven't driven mine yet, the 4 months don't kick in till the damn engine starts. Should be a good car, like the other 3 cars I own at the moment. Will need to get rid of one at least once Barry gets it back on the road I think. Anyone want to buy an evo7 with brand new built 2.3 engine?

Rb20Det Loud Knock After Spark Plug Change

I agree, it sounds like a lifter. Why does the noise stop just before the engine dies though? -

Interesting place to put an injector... -
HDI do a nice stainless 3 inch dump to factory 3 bolt flange. Just Jap sold one to a customer of mine a while back, it looked pretty good when I saw it today. The middle two bolts are a pita to get to in-situ of course, I just removed the turbo with the dump pipe attached.

Did you look at Amayama's site? It ships from UAE but they ship fast and their prices are usually very good.
-
Yeh Shibbby, there is a company called Nissan, go to the parts counter and ask. They should have one in stock. I use Amayama.
-
I need your car here, mine are custom made by me to accurately suit your turbo, not made on a bamboo jig by some Chinese bloke with bare feet. Surely there is a decent fabricator near you?
-
Mine are the best. Followed by every other custom fabricator in Australia. Then Tomei, and the very last in the list is the one you will probably buy, the Just Jap dump. No bellmouth is best. Go external gate even better.
-
Bigger the bell mouth dump the better.

The new Kando 12cm GT30 housings look great externally gated... I have modified plenty of rear housings over the years and never had a failure, with cast iron or stainless Tial housings. Every single car I have seen tuned with the gate setup like this has exceeded expectations on the dyno. I have seen over 430kw through the stock manifold with this design so far. If you can find a decent fabricator, save you cash and copy this, but make sure you die grind it all smooth internally afterwards. It's the critical point in you whole setup where exhaust gas speed is fastest. Or you could just send your housing and gate to me...

My consult 3 works fine, but I used different software than it originally came with. I have never tried a Consult4 , I would rather the Consult 3+ as that is what Nissan dealerships use now, it is apparently a lot more user friendly than their old consult3 units.

It has been on ebay US for about 2 years, but going to an RB box has it's own issues, namely the transfer case is 160mm further forward. At least the 350z 6 spd bolts up, although as with that adapter, the starter is right where the turbo sits. The 350z box can take a starter on either side though...
-
While I think the block has gearbox bolt holes in a similar spot, the sump would need to be swapped from the 3.5 to fit the gearbox adapter. What are you hoping to achieve though Jarrod? Do you want a 33 GTR box in there?

New R34 Build Project - Before I Start
scotty nm35 replied to perzn_34's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
^^ Ben speaks the truth, no amount of certificates will make it legal, the epa will only allow a newer engine than the car came with to be installed, unless you run straight LPG and remove the entire fuel system (as far as I know.) -
Gt3076R Antics , Better Late Than Never .

Not all the Xspurt injectors are modified, the smaller ones such as 300, 525 are original, they trim the plate off the front to extend the flow rates to 750 and 1000. These still have a great spray pattern though when compared to other 1000's, but they like high fuel pressure. The 1400cc stainless injectors aren't a Bosch core, they are a new Denso or something. Not even listed under their Xspurt brand... I haven't tried a set yet, although I was thinking of upgrading mine to them at some point. I will be buying a set for the Evo too no doubt, as they are the largest petrol injector they have available, and it's designed for ethanol/methanol. http://www.injectorsonline.com/indivprod.php?cid=74&scid=11
