  1. As it's a coil it shouldn't matter when it comes to polarity. The stock wiring should be fine. You can enter a temporary pwm value in the map around atmospheric pressure to test it I think, without the engine running. You only need to get it buzzing.
  2. Yeh, the rocker gasket is around $25. I don't like putting sealant around them, as a thin smear might fall off and partially block the oil pump or pickup (as there is nothing to hold the sealant in place). I try to minimise the use of silicone inside the engine for this reason.
  3. I saw a little toyota starlet the other day at Trent's pushing 190kw, he was going in for an ethanol tune. There is no way you would expect to get thrashed by a micro car, with a baby on board sticker on the window. I'm all for it.
  4. I already posted the graph I think. On this topic, how many of you have tried Vcam? It uses a 350z cam actuator good for 40 degrees inlet cam advance/retard. Are there any before and after graphs? My VQ25det variable cam setup reeled in 1000 revs of lag, making the engine very similar to a 3L the way it comes on boost. If it can be cheaply retrofitted it could be a better option than a 3L bottom end.
  5. That could work. Hopefully the rubber around the plug tubes hasn't gone hard.
  6. You want to keep it stock, but also put shitty GM truck coils on it with leads hanging off? What's wrong with the stock coils? If you are in Japan I don't think you will have trouble finding brand new OEM coils. Got any pics?
  7. Ah, you want an AN fitting on the back of the rail where the reg is... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Genuine-TURBOSMART-Fuel-Rail-Adapter-For-Mazda-FD3S-RX7-Series-6-13BREW-/171150954273 Is that the part? There are hundreds of brands selling those.
  8. I forgot to crack the bottle. Damn, sorry Platts.
  9. It's only an air valve, it doesn't matter. Just make sure you have the restrictor in the hose or boost will skyrocket on the stock setup.
  10. I would be getting a decent pump if you are sticking to external.
  11. Try Torques UK. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Torques-U-K I have bought many parts off him, very reasonable pricing. Do you know the thread size and pitch? Get it off the Aeromotive website, or ask him as he sells a lot of Aeromotive parts I think.
  12. I saw 900 degree manifold temps regularly at the track, all with a beanie on. The car has done 6 hard track days and daily driving for many years without issue. As long as the CHRA is water cooled you should be fine.
  13. So it's running lean at idle then... Taking the vac line off at idle would richen it up I think. Perhaps it was just setup with an adjustable fuel reg initially... I would be getting it on a dyno before anything else... Perhaps with an adjustable reg in place so you have some control over mixtures. Otherwise, go back to the stock ecu until you have the Emanage installed. It's unusual, I would have thought the o2 sensor would have sorted it out, it must be a fair way out...
  14. Its no big deal, most of the VQ's I see have oil in the plug well. It is insulative so it doesn't affect the spark. How long since you changed the plugs? If it's been a year or more, I would just suck the oil out with a syringe and small hose. The seals aren't replaceable so you would need to get an entire rocker cover and gasket to fix the weep. Big dorrahs.
  15. Shame you couldn't just fit an XR6 xforce dump... It would be close but at a slightly different angle I think.
  16. Aren't the stockies 235 55 17 though?
  17. Good luck finding that, many are desperate for them over here... Try import Monster or see if you can get onto a Jap wreckers with one.
  18. A thoughtful customer just gave me a bottle of Gentleman Jack if you want to help me taste test.
  19. Most probably. As long as the map is suited. If it's overfuelling then a throttle re-learn won't help much.
  20. Get an emanage on it, at least that way you can adjust the fuel. No point adjusting the idle screw on an electronically controlled car. You need a consult 3 to set the idle properly, but if the AFR's are out it won't help.
  21. Yep. Should be here...
  22. I was only joking Dave, I have a no shitbox policy anyway.
  23. Overnight parts from Japan kent... Or come see me.
  24. Yep, it should work out about the same cost as 98, unless you give it little squirts everywhere like me.
