  1. Before Artz came to me with his external gate ideas the 20G power output was only speculative. I don't think anyone had pushed one to 300wkw on a Skyline. I seem to remember it hitting 280kw on petrol, so there is either a restriction, or much more in his setup as I would usually expect 40-50kw from ethanol. Trent never pushed the tune hard as he was planning to track it. The response was amazing for the power output. As he mentioned, a billet wheel would only help with flow due to the smaller hub and lighter compressor.
  2. I have fitted a few highmount ones, haven't seen the low mount yet. What kind of information were you after? The old saying 'you get what you pay for' comes to mind... But they work ok and flow the numbers.
  3. What is it you want? I can probably make one for you. Or just cut the afm down a little so it is round and clamp on a 3 inch silicone joiner.
  4. Sounds like bullshit, all he should need to do is remove the GTR card. Unless it wasn't an actual consult unit?
  5. It was a decent leak, no wonder it was blowing fuel out the zorst the last 4 months. A quick pressure test would have found it in no time.
  6. Injector voltage is critical to their operation so I would be looking further into that. Perhaps the ground side is earthing slightly, which may cause the injector to leak.
  7. They cleaned the throttle, and now it's probably worse, so you are paying for them to do a throttle re-learn now, that should have been done in the first place imo. It's a 10 minute job with the Consult reader, so don't let them charge you through the nose...
  8. And what would you expect the plugs to look like on ethanol anyway? The shit would evaporate before you got the plug out. It's hard enough to read plugs on petrol since all the lead was removed. Plugs looked fine, and were not causing misfire. No melting, or signs of DET damage. The DET was picked up with a knockbox setup that Trent has been proficient with for 5+ years, I am sure he has heard more knock than any of us... Amplified 100 times over.
  9. No VNT on this one, with a .63 rear. What did it feel like on the way home from Trent's Stao?
  10. Or just leave the transfer case there with no shaft, what is the predicament?
  11. And your question has been answered... Yes, externally gated... Just. But you would be pushing the engine hard to get that, and every other supporting mod would need to be perfect. 25G is probably the better option, as then the turbo isn't past it's efficiency.
  12. All it means is the fault is probably unrelated to the gearbox replacement, unless the knock sensor is still in use and the new clutch is triggering it due to noise?
  13. Agreed, it won't make that power internally gated with the 20G, I would say it's just possible with an external gate setup off the manifold or housing, as long as the 10cm external housing is selected and all the supporting mods flow well. If the OP wants a bolt on turbo, the Hypergear shits all over the Kando internal gate.
  14. I would be interested to see the graph as I have the same highflow in my evo7, just waiting for the engine builder to finish his work.
  15. Agreed, but then you have an old GTR and no bank account anyway. All those parts would have to be upgraded in any build, factory turbo or not. e85 = 85% Ethanol and 15%petrol = Perfect fuel for turbocharged cars.
  16. The external gate does more than just control the boost though, it also flows better in the top end improving power/torque output. It's a great mod if done correctly, and perhaps hidden for defect reasons. If you just want to control the boost a little better, you will need to die grind the existing wastegate for better flow, or get Hypergear to weld on an enlarged puck and machine it out.
  17. The impul map might be richer in that area, and as peak torque is around that point, it is the richest point of the map usually. Time for an Emanage?
  18. The 2.5dd is a high compression motor, the only way to turbocharge it imo is to run it on e85, there is no way a 12:1 compression ratio will work with boost on petrol otherwise. The other option is to swap in a VQ25det, which I am doing for another bloke in a few weeks. I am going to get it running on the stock ecu, with an Emanage Ultimate to help tune the timing and fuel. Keep in mind the det is a rare motor and will set you back 3k or so S/H. Cost wise, if you need to ask, you should stop now.
  19. I can possibly help, but it won't be one piece. Most silicone comes in 4 inch long, or 1m lengths. When you say 2.75, is this actually a metric size? All Japanese piping is metric. PM me if you like. I have a silicone joint nearby that have a great range, and I can make alloy pipes to finish the length's off if needed.
  20. Quite often the leak only occurs when there is pressure in the pipe, such as a split in some rubber that closes when there is no boost. The best way to find it is a pressure test I have found, it's cheap and easy to do at home if you have a compressor.
  21. Nothing at the moment, but there's good weather coming up, once the heat dies down. Perhaps someone should organise one soon...
  22. The pocket gets more annoying the faster you go around corners Nick, as you use it to brace yourself from slipping off the seat. Obviously you drive like a grandma.
  23. Sorry to hear Dane, Do you still have the stock ecu to test? Has the Impul been reset? These faults can be tricky as there are so many parts that can make the car run rich. 3k is almost full torque load on the stock turbo, so it is a point where the fuel would be dumping in on the Impul map, but hopefully it is just a leak. Do you have the stock bov to put back on, plumbed back?
