  1. +1 What would you do if the tyre went flat? I would be putting the pedal adjustment back where it should be, as the drum pads may be dragging constantly now.
  2. They can't even get the VQ30det running right, no electronic throttle, no EVCT. It's always so easy until you realise it actually isn't.
  3. You can buy some very tight steam pipe bends, there is no reason to use straight pipe to make it easier, other than to get out of die grinding so much. It is obviously a lot easier to get the die grinder into the rear housing than the manifold for internal smoothing.
  4. Definitely the cheapest tuning option atm. Talk to Cihan about it if you like, he tuned mine 20 or more times before I changed to the Fcon, he is pretty confident with it now.
  5. Looks pretty good actually. Go for it, and post up a review for the rest of us.
  6. www.etuner.com.au I would be changing the dump at least, if you saw one you would laugh. You could barely get a 50 cent piece down the throat, then into a restrictive cat. He is easy to get along with, just let him know you want a baseline power figure before the inevitable tune.
  7. The spring can be replaced to any tension, or even removed so it runs stock boost again. That is the main benefit of mounting it externally, as you can perhaps change it in situ. Pain in the arse to swap actuators though. I usually ship it with a 16 psi spring, but depending on the setup, it could run more. Replacing the BOV is the main culprit it seems, that might make it hold 20psi.
  8. Only when the bearings are shagged. I had one here that was silent, must have been replaced in Japan before the car came over.
  9. It will drop off up top as the wastegate spring is just too soft, manifold pressure simply blows it open. That is the reason I modify them with an external spring. There are a few threads on the subject, one owner recently got a turbosmart actuator in there but it seemed like a lot of work compared to the external spring imo.
  10. With a noise like that someone has to pick up a screwdriver... Can you drop the disk off yourself and take a picture for us at least? I think you will soon find the issue once it is off. Not sure I would be trusting the park brake atm...
  11. You will find it hard to get a definite answer, as there is no right and wrong, just varying wastegate flow. If you are running high enough boost you will probably never know the flow is restricted anyway. At such high gas speeds you need to imagine the exhaust flow is water, as it would act very similar. Would you expect water to flow well out of a 90 degree outlet? Or would it rather go past into the turbo as it is easier...
  12. Aftermarket screen where the pop up is, but that is all I know. I don't have the car yet, it's up in Brisbane still. The dash is black, Axis white underneath. Don't get any ideas Josh.
  13. It sounds pretty close to normal. You could well have a second hand stock turbo installed. Does the turbo make a jet turbine sound?
  14. I tried contacting Haltech, Link, and Adaptronic 2 years ago via Email, they all brushed me off as there is realistically no money in it for them, I mean how many ecu's would they sell, 10? Even backup support to fit a PS2000 would be nice, just someone to bounce ideas off, but no such luck. It's like they want to keep all secrets to themselves. I have a feeling you would need direct haltech support to get the cam actuation to work, as nothing I have seen runs a similar electronic clutch style arrangement, and you need completely different PWM frequencies to actuate our cams. At least with a 350z plugin the rest of the engine would work fine, and there is apparently adjustment for the cam PWM outputs, but you would need to drop the 3.5 loom in there. As the CAN interface is different it won't talk to the other ecu's either I suspect, so you may need to leave the stock ecu in place so as not to lose car functions, especially the auto... If you plan big power you will need a standalone, the EMU is fine to around 250kw though, more on ethanol imo.
  15. I doubt he would know it wasn't stock, but there is no defect for piping I am fairly sure, as long as the stock airbox/bov/breather is still in use. Pod, yes.
  16. My intake passed the test then?
  17. Cops gotta fine you skyrine kents... Someone has to pay for their overtime this christmas. Seems the yearly crackdown is in full swing.
  18. Dave, the EMU is a budget tuning solution, half what a Fcon or Adaptronic would cost. That doesn't mean it isn't good though, I ran over 300kw on one, but the tune isn't set, the stock ecu still has control of the entire engine. Timing and fuel can be added or taken from the factory map but the ecu still adjusts everything as per factory. This has many benefits but most tuners refuse to work with them because they can't guarantee the timing and fuel will remain consistent. The Fcon is a standalone ecu, it has set maps that don't change, hence it is safer at high power. The stock ecu remains to run the throttle and cams, you will have little adjustment of them. The Adaptronic is in a similar position, it needs the stock ecu to control the throttle and cams, there is further testing to be done with cable throttle and cam control which we are hoping will be sorted soon to allow full engine control, but I am not entirely confident it will be perfect option. The Haltech 350z plugin, the latest version, is probably the best bet we have to get full standalone control, but no-one has attempted it yet. Major wiring headaches are on the way as this is the path I am probably heading once the manual box goes in. The Link G4 extreme is similar to the Haltech, but you would need to run the electronic throttle add-on.
  19. China.
  20. If it is highflowed, and they installed large wheels, it will seem very laggy. At what revs does boost kick in?
  21. The other one is a HKS 3240 it seems. http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-engine-turbo-drivetrain/310939-evo-experts-hks-gt3240-turbo.html Our good old Disco has loved talking turbo's for years.
  22. Might want to find out if it's steel wheeled before winding too much into it, these do run 14psi stock... If it's highflowed, perhaps the actuator mod is a better start? Be aware, you may start hitting airflow cut if you push too far... Then it's Emanage time.
  23. For what car? I have a Nissan Consult3 but it doesn't leave the house...
  24. WMI... You know the Germans were running the superior "synthetic" fuels...
  25. I think they were reselling the proflow RB25 rail, they were a little more expensive at around $200 I think, but great quality. You can get 14mm rails for under $100 if you search around (egay, goodies direct etc) not sure on their quality though as I have never fitted one. You will need to work out injector spacing and brackets so they hold down tight. The Xspurt 1000's drop straight into the RB26 with the kits I sell. No spacing required from stock, and the plug adapters are supplied.
