  1. Why do you V guys want every modification to be an off the shelf, brand name, bolt on affair? There are 1000's of fabricators out there that can custom make you decent high flow stainless cat/decat pipes without the high markup and shipping buying from the US brings, and that way it will fit better as LHD designs rarely work well. After fitting up a Stillen twin stainless system for a customer, I was very disappointed with the quality and the materials. (the flanges were't even stainless, they were mild.) I would think twice about using their HFC's.
  2. 1: A catch can can improve the efficiency of your cooler by making sure the insulating blowby oil doesn't coat the inside. The oil can also cause detonation if you are pushing the limits. 2: Higher pressure at the injector usually improves the spray pattern which can improve the burn resulting in more economy and power. Don't go too high, most fuel pumps will stop flowing much over 80psi. 3: A larger AFM body could help flow by allowing more air to pass, but you will lose AFM resolution. Best bet is to ditch the AFM fist chance you get and go MAP sensor. 4: It's very hard to judge power output from injector size as everyone runs different pressure, afr's and engine setups. Torque increases demand more fuel even if power doesn't rise. 5: 044's are an old noisy design, there are much better options out there now days. 6: Stock is good if it's flat. 7: Cam gears allow you to tune the camshafts for response or power by advancing or retarding them slightly. It can be time consuming for little gain sometimes. 8: FFP's can shorten the cooler piping, help fit larger injectors and rail and shorten runners to add top end power (usually at the expense of midrange) Unless they have been thoroughly tested for flow you may go backwards or even lean out a cylinder. As you see, there is no correct answer for everyone, it depends what you want from your setup. My suggestion is to do one mod at a time and analyse the results as most modifications have consequences. (like increased noise, drivability, reliability etc.) On the topic of e85, you should gain around 40kw at that power level, and a good amount more torque. The only real down side to ethanol is your fuel range will be 2/3 it was, and winter cold starts will chew through the fuel.
  3. It should have already been ripped out during compliance.
  4. If they made decent (smaller) cars for a reasonable price that people liked the look of, they wouldn't be going under. Toyota can't make enough FT86's... Styling must be the key. I doubt other manufacturers will learn from Ford's mistakes though.
  5. Drive Skyline in Vic = HOON, shoot on sight. Sell up and buy a Stagea.
  6. Higher pressure differential will bite you in the ass. Hope you have a good boost gauge, the stock one is shite as are most of the mechanical aftermarket ones.
  7. No, it's fine Aaron, they have only shot at 6 or 7 cars in the last year apparently...
  8. Sounds like late night shoot-em-ups will be common place soon, and my place is opposite the industrial estate frequented by drifters... Time for steel plate fencing?
  9. Ah, yep shipping long articles to NZ is expensive too. I would be looking at a wrecked V35 for the rwd RE5 box, not sure if the splines are the same. The VQ35 rwd Stagea isn't allowed to be imported here yet, and was fairly rare I believe.
  10. Not the Stagea one, that's for sure. Our gearbox has a transfer case on the back for the AWD, and a 4 bolt flange not the splined yoke. That said, I do have a 350z carbon tailshaft here I was keeping to hack up for my manual conversion... You could make me an offer...
  11. I would rather a healthy power curve than a ricer push button start.
  12. Nope, the ecu controls the throttle and my ecu is standard.
  13. I have 100% throttle at launch, with the car in first... What are you on about Andy?
  14. Keep it twin turbo and simply tune it for response. No VCT makes for a very doughy spool. Should I say NEO conversion? Or perhaps blow the coin on a Vcam upgrade instead?
  15. It's not a problem for me, I have an M35 wreck in the drive. The ceramic turbo is quite robust considering it runs at 14psi stock, try that with any other ceramic turbine... I have run mine at 19psi for months without failure. As with any turbo failure it can usually be traced back to poor oil supply or lack of servicing. Fuel economy shouldn't change with a good tune, it could even get better if you ditch the o2 sensor and lean out the cruise mapping. I wouldn't suggest it though.
  16. Is the cooling system bled properly?
  17. To a car club meeting? I know what my missus would say...
  18. Drop past on your way.
  19. You can f**k Aaron, I want nothing to do with that... Yep, I will probably head down with the kids.
  20. lol. Aaron, you had better turn up, you can't let a little man flu get in the way of a good Kebab... You have gotten a bit limp now you work for Mercedes...
  21. With this sort of power, if they don't strap the car down really well, it can snap the straps or bend the hooks which is what happened at the SAU dyno day a few years ago, the car jumped off the back when he hit the brakes. There were 4 of us trying to hold the back of the car so it didn't come right off the dyno. I also had the cooling system explode when the head gasket let go, boiling hot coolant went everywhere. You definitely need to be on the ball, and I can see why most workshops won't let customers in the room for safety reasons.
  22. No way I would let my car be dyno'd without being in the room. I have saved my engine, and a few others by simply checking it after each run, making sure there are no leaks, smoke, loose hoses etc. That said it's weird having someone rev the crap out of your car on rollers, the first time you will probably shit bricks worrying it will jump off or explode. (mine has done both of these things.)
  23. I haven't tried the 750 Xspurts, or the longer 725's, but I have sold a few sets without any issues. They are cheaper than the 1000's too I think. Artz managed to fit the longer style ones under his 33 plenum without a problem running a larger aftermarket rail, I would be interested to see what modifications are required to fit the 34 rail to the 33...
  24. I would generally agree, but then he ripped his turbo off... I lost all respect...
