  1. Even at the stupidly high oil pressure the VQ runs my Garrett has been perfect without a restrictor. One thing I would add though is a small inline oil filter.
  2. I looked Josh and can't find any ducting there, are you sure it doesn't just blow inside the console?
  3. It sounds like someone swapped the water temp sensor wires. The gauge in the dash should be doing exactly what you describe, the ecu should get the accurate temp.
  4. If the 4wd is switched on it can sometimes feel similar to that, otherwise there must be an engine issue. Can you get a video of it or something?
  5. I have a Stagea one which I assume is exactly the same...
  6. Sounds good, 20 year old injector design must be better than what Bosch just designed... 1000cc ev14's are the go, or 2000's when you realise you can't make that power safely with 98.
  7. Same part. I have used early Z33 and M35 direct injection.
  8. The black interior is in Craig's car, only the ARX tan is available. Sorry Josh.
  9. It looks reasonable, local buy with warranty. Try it out and let us know.
  10. I tried to rip a throttle unit apart to clean the TPS carbon tracks but i'm fairly sure it failed. They are definitely not a serviceable part. Seeing Nissan want $1800 for a new throttle unit and these are failing like hotcakes I would grab any second hand VQ throttle you can get. A 350z/V35 one will fit, I am running a VQ25DD throttle at the moment due to the same fault. If you need a hand with clearing the codes, resetting the idle or changing the throttle over, a quick search and you will find the information on here. Otherwise PM me if you need someone to do the work for you.
  11. I would get a second opinion first, make sure they check for carbon gasses in the coolant before assuming the head gasket is gone. Unfortunately it seems that way if the bubbles don't stop. Have you smelt the bubbles? Do they stink of petrol? Nissan will charge you over 1k just for the timing kit, why change it if it isn't stuffed? Could be cheaper and easier to drop a wrecker motor in...
  12. What do you need to know?
  13. Sorry, I won't be able to make it buddy.
  14. Same as mine with a different mount...
  15. Looks good, what are you doing for windscreen water?
  16. Try fitting it backwards then, it will read less than 1 volt I guarantee. One way sensor my arse. They are better I admit but not magical in any way, and nowhere near as reliable.
  17. You don't just bleed the air out, you need to fill the bleeder completely first with coolant then start the engine. Keep topping it up until it overflows without bubbles for a while.(heater off) There may be air trapped in the heater lines too so you will have to turn it on and off at some points but I have found the air bubbles make their way up the heater pipe easier with no water flowing. If the engine temp gets hot during all this bleeding, or the thermo fan kicks in, you have an airlock and no water is flowing through the block. Sometimes turning the engine off will release the air but it has taken me over an hour to get it out on a few occasions.
  18. Looks like he thinks Craig's advice is irrelevant, it's the reason I never posted a response anyway.
  19. That method will likely see you with a blown head gasket on the VQ's, I have rebuilt two engines now due to overheating lifting the head from simply not having water flow (airlocked system) Another V35 I worked on was bled 3 times and still overheated on the way home. You can't get rid of the air from the block as it has nowhere to go, there is a blanking plate over the most logical (highest) point to bleed the block, which my bypass mod design gets around. Even if the stock setup didn't airlock it would never bleed fully.
  20. It will still read negative airflow, I fitted mine in backwards accidentally and noticed it runs under 1v instead of over. It just make it harder to tune costing more coin. The stock bov, with or without a grub screw in the bypass hole is usually the best option with any afm.
  21. There are always some on ebay, it will fit many more models i'm sure. Even the micra one looks the same. Just check the part numbers... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Air-Flow-Meter-AFM-Genuine-Nissan-Pulsar-N16-Sedan-Maxima-A33-12months-Warranty-/120817573664?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c2149df20&_uhb=1#ht_2430wt_1159 Perhaps even cheaper in the US? I have no need for one anymore so i'm no help...
  22. Good result Alex, whales represent.
  23. The afm was swapped with a blown one before I got the car.
