  1. I have a 5 inch round Xforce mid muffler and the Hooker on a single 3.5 inch system, It definitely isn't as quiet as Owens setup, perhaps the cat and the small housing act to quieten the exhaust on his? I need to look at more noise reduction in mine, I may have to trial some of my own muffler designs.
  2. The Aerochamber's I have here are straight through (not offset) but they restrict the straight through part to 3 inch, there is a side pipe that flows the rest. (part of the reflection design.) They sell for around $200 in stainless or $105 in mild with stainless internals. No way the 3.5 inch is going to pass but the idle noise is acceptable, you may pass the roadside or boose bus police check. For a cheap muffler they do ok. Still looking for a reasonably flowing 'legal' noise level muffler I can sell to customers... What brand were the ones you mentioned Ash?
  3. 3.5 inch stainless aerochamber. I was having issues finding decent large bore mufflers, Owen and I decided to give the Hooker a go and it seems to work well. It should never change in noise level either with the chamber design. They obviously flow well but I would like to know where the limit is, unfortunately the 3.5 is the largest one they do. Noise wise they have a very deep note, a welcome change from the tinny 'sock shoved up your exhaust' Varex noise I had. They are a little droney on their own, I will let you know what mine sounds like on the road as i'm running a centre resonator also.
  4. Not really, the stock one can be just as good if you seal the small bleed hole (grub screw mod) but the car may not be as docile when you back off from boost.
  5. The Vband was welded on to the housing, I haven't seen one like it before. I guess this one is equivalent to a .63 in response but with better top end.
  6. It all had to be assembled on the bench and lifted into place. The front gate can't be unbolted with the turbo in the car and there is one turbo bolt that is almost impossible to get to. Other than that there is plenty of room. Not that hard, there were two flex joins to fit before the cat/merge but it was getting the wastegate outlet merge right that took the time. I also got the 3.5 inch exhaust pipe tucked right up giving good clearance from the road, well over legal height at the moment. I was happy with how it turned out, and the noise level with only a Hooker was very reasonable considering the size. (I was so impressed I fitted a hooker 3.5 inch to my car today.)
  7. Yep, split .82 GT3076. 6 Boost, twin 40mm turbosmarts plumbed back into the 4.5 inch 100cpsi cat. Here's hoping you crack 350 Owen.
  8. Looks like a nice spray pattern, have you tuned with them yet mate? What sort of price are we looking at?
  9. My economy went to crap with the switch to United and these cold starts aren't helping. More cranking enrichment, twice the fuel at under 20 degrees and it still isnt perfect. It takes a lot of fine tuning to get it spot on, I don't know how Trent does it so easily.
  10. You would still get done, but I would be taking it to court. (especially if you copped the 10k fine.) Straight LPG vehicles aren't required to run it so why should I have to? Have there been any tests done on e85 emissions with and without the cat to prove it's required? Obviously flex vehicles would still need it...
  11. Perhaps the engine is flowing more air now with the colder air temps and the wastegate can't keep up anymore? It sounded like it was on its limits. Do you have a die grinder?
  12. Great result Joe, glad to help. Trent should get into live internet tuning.
  13. The actuator will crack at a much higher pressure with the compressor, as in the car it will have manifold pressure helping push the puck open. The best way to find out the actuator pressure/boost level is to drive it.
  14. Won't work, you failed to take manifold pressure into account.
  15. That quick spool looks just like the one I designed, I wonder how well it works...
  16. As long as there are no leaks, yep.
  17. Yep, and use new hose. Take some pics for us on the fitment and quality, I was interested in these actuators myself as I want to modify it for a push and pull setup. Make sure you check it doesn't overboost before you get on it hard.
  18. Good one Nate, those of us on the "dark side' black screen cant read a word of that. Perhaps you could change your font color? The muffler has a flap inside to block flow to one tip unless you need it. (not much chance of that with the NA) Sometimes this can get blocked or seize, so you should get someone to check it by hanging out the window as you boot it up the freeway.
  19. I fitted one of these thermostats inline with my trans cooler, it allows the transmission to warm up to operating temp before flowing through the cooler, and will limit the amount of cold 'issues' you will have when you just plumb it in. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LONG-OIL-THERMOSTAT-COLD-CLIMATES-OC-708-4739-/370626344630?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item564b0d36b6#ht_820wt_1159 The hoses may be a different size, I had to use adapters for the hoses, but it works well.
  20. Looks great Aaron, if only that battery triangle was straight.
  21. Hallam kebabs ftw.
  22. You got da high comp bro and you worried about response? I don't see any other option for you... You can deny it as much as you want but I can see you filling at caltex within the year. lol.
  23. Caltex is 20c less than unleaded. United were 10c less, but they just dropped 15c off the price so 25c less than unleaded. They both have ethanol plants in Queensland now but I'm not sure the Caltex one is operational. The price is set against oil for some reason, sounded dodgy as hell. I have the email from Caltex about it and I posted it in the E85 thread a year or two ago.
  24. Added to that, I have seen a few of the stock bleeder points fail, one snapped the plastic pipe off and a few with the Phillips head stripped. Using alloy for the body and a steel ball valve it should hopefully be a more reliable option for that too.
