  1. That angle is fine, but take it further. You wouldn't run 5 inch cooler piping as it would take half an hour to charge it. You only run what you need to for the flow you require.
  2. I don't know where you got that info Cam, which pods do you think magically have a larger surface area? I'm happy to prove you wrong, just bring a pod to me before tomorrow night and we can test it on the dyno while its being tuned.
  3. Are you offering to come and help fit the front diff Cam?
  4. You could have at least gotten an AMG behind it, and perhaps a model draped over the bonnet?
  5. I have the oem plastic mat to put over the carpet when I cart gear.
  6. I got my results with 2/3 of a standard 76mm Greddy cooler. A full one would be fine for 400kw, so would a stock GTR one as proven already. Why change what doesn't need changing is most peoples opinion. As with stock/aftermarket radiators, thick coolers aren't as efficient at cooling as the back of it is always seeing warm air, plus you pay the lag penalty most cant afford at this power.
  7. Ok, will do. Gladly the 18's put the informeter speed spot on, only the speedo in the dash is out 10k's at 100. I will try and get footage of that too during the run. What do you want displayed? Speed data will still only go to 180 but that will do as the dyno will be in wheel speed axis anyway.
  8. I cant believe the tyre fitter sprayed tyre shine all over your new invo's lol. Like it doesn't slide enough already... They look great, I might have to buy a set myself one day.
  9. Ok, just for you Alex... Aaron turned up today after he heard the new turbo arrived, he helped me rip his 3071 out and fit the new GTX3076. I decided to fit the smaller 0.82 rear housing instead of the 1.06 Tial. I was pleasantly surprised at the improvement in response, it seems like it would actually boost off the line now with a little stall. The tune is set for Wednesday night so I will let you know how it pans out.
  10. I should be able to get an overlay of both graphs but I can feel the .82 is perfect, probably for either turbo, and as they have the same turbine, they should feel much the same on the road. Mine with the stock airbox is still silent.
  11. Yep, with a smaller turbo, the 71.
  12. I may be able to get the same response now, the .82 on the new GTX3076 is in and it feels much better than the old 1.06. Boost at stall would be nice...
  13. Drop the exhaust, that seems way too laggy.
  14. At the end of the day it just flows X amount of air through the compressor, how much of it the engine can't ingest gives you the boost figure. I couldn't run more than 23psi on the final tune with the GTX3071 with 1.06 rear, the compressor was way out of efficiency and it made less power from heating the air with no benefit. I just slotted the GTX3076 with .82 rear in today so I will let you know the outcome Wednesday hopefully. I can already tell its much more responsive...
  15. The airbox is unrestricted, its the intake that thins down to 40mm and requires upgrading. (not with the stock turbo though.) As Bob said, when you decide to build the engine, run a 3.5 inch exhaust with no cat and run a 600hp turbo, then you will need to look at the airbox being a restriction.
  16. They heavily under quoted your job mate, they wouldn't offer the same deal now though I bet.
  17. Battery's dead mate, I haven't seen one come back from that voltage before.
  18. I agree Bob, I guess it will flow well over 350, I know mine can and it uses the same panel filter. Save your coin for a good alloy intake and bellmouth dump/good exhaust. The tuner will take care of the rest. If you want more power than that you would have to look at a twin pod setup and cai like this one I made for a mate's supra, it just put down 550kw last night.
  19. Perhaps you need a wideband to know how rich the engine is running at light loads and decel. All the cars with atmo's I see, the rear bar is covered in soot, the cats have collapsed and fuel economy is woeful. You can tune around it to some extent I guess, perhaps your tuner is a gun... I make a direct copy if you have trouble finding someone local to make one.
  20. How will it increase airflow, by sucking hot air? Not filtering dust out? Pods usually have less surface area than the stock panel filter. My opinions are based on experience. Stock airbox/cai ftw.
  21. Tell me about it, between the cost Stao is supplying rebuilt turbo's at, and the speed I can change a turbo in now, you would be mad to purchase their dodgy warranty. Mine wasn't worth the paper it was written on...
  22. Not really as you need to run a plumb back BOV, you can only run an atmo bov if you go map sensored, and ditch the afm altogether.
  23. Personally I would run the stock airbox and get a 3 inch alloy copy of the stock rubber pipe, its the best option for so many reasons. Why no BOV though?
  24. I would quote you under two grand for the highflow turbo fitted, well down on the 3 or 4k it used to cost. (and what a mechanic would probably still charge.) There is no guarantee you will get what you want with the warranty, most probably they would try and source a second hand turbo, and you would be in the same boat again down the track.
  25. Nothing better to complain about? Perhaps they should come down and stay in Dandenong for a night. lol. They should be fined for wasting resources by ringing 000 with no emergency imo.
