  1. I agree, you wouldnt want someone else to go down this path without knowing the costs and heartache involved. What happened to your VQ25det by the way?
  2. Could have been cheaper if you made a few of those gearbox parts, especially the bell housing. I would have bought one but I guess you would have needed the stock one to hack up?
  3. Is that a modified trans tunnel for a Getrag conversion? So its AWD still? Nice. Cut and shut bellhousing?
  4. RWD I assume? Good luck with traction. What are your plans with it? Full standalone ecu now with twins for that power I take it? I still dont think you should be upping the revs though.
  5. The PCV IS the idle situation.
  6. Its a great pump mate, I only upgraded to the twin Walbros as the 1000's were at 80% and we didnt beleive they should have been at that power level. (they still are.) You should be good for 400kw on ethanol I have heard. Whats wrong with the air temp sensor mate? Have you wired it up right? Only two wires, cant be too hard to work out.
  7. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/forum/145-stagea-parts-classifieds/ That is a whole sub forum for Stagea specific sales for us wagoneers.
  8. You are sucking the catch can gasses into the plenum right? Put the PCV back and plumb the catch can into the turbo intake like it was before you stuffed around with it.
  9. It was only tuned at 15psi. Bad wastegate creep too? When are you getting yours tuned Artz? I got most of the hard work out of the way. lol. Whats left to do other than find where Trent got lost?
  10. You know theres a for sale section at the top right?
  11. How did it turn out Ryan? Wheres the pics? If no-one else has a broken foggie I will take them as spares mate.
  12. Did they explain to you that aftermarket camshafts will make the turbo spool later, moving the power band further up the rev range? Its only useful if you plan for well over 400kw imo and losing midrange sucks. At the end of the day a built auto wont handle much beyond 300, do you have the coin for a Getrag conversion? The stock manifold wont support that sort of power either so I guess you are looking at twins? You will have to ditch the Attessa which makes that much power useless for the street. I also have doubts the 2.5 will fit on the 3.5 block without first modifying the head chamber as the pistons are much larger, besides the 3.5 heads will flow much more than the 2.5 ones ever will, you just hit the actuaton brick wall and without the cam actuation the engine is very lethargic (as you may have already found out.) Quote: turning the seemingly impossible into reality. So what is it they have done for you? I can understand you want to keep it to yourself as you would be paying through the nose for the workshop to learn the engine's characteristics, but it doesnt help the Stagea community to keep secrets now does it. After all, this forum IS the aftermarket support for this platform. Please dont take this as a personal attack, I only want you to know the path you're choosing may be a long and costly one.
  13. I wouldn't mind knowing where that plastic part came from, it would be great for fitting a 7 inch touch screen into... Make a mold for us... Pleeeesee.
  14. I would be trying a 10w40 semi synth, unless the engine is built with loose tolerances. White smoke is usually coolant leaking into the cylinders, perhaps the head gasket is gone or the turbo is leaking internally? Compression test time.
  15. Hey Brett what model car is the ecu from? (ARX Hicas etc) Also, did you ever test out the SLD? Did it allow you over the 180 mark? Good price for it.
  16. Im running Aarons old Turbosmart compact, with the stiff spring it still runs fine. I only changed as the stock one wasnt coping too well at over 30psi, even with the grub screw mod. How is my stock one going Jase? Prince Skyline had the same farting problem so I gave him my stock one to try. Seems to be a common problem.
  17. If its a simple pipe to a pod with no BOV or breather fittings then you did the right thing, a simple bend and silicone joiners will do the job nicely. $500 seems very steep.
  18. Bigger is better for power but obviously you need to quieten it down for the street, and it would depend how low you are as to what size pipe would fit under the car. There are plenty of 3 or 3.5 inch cat backs available in the for sale section, or you can get me or someone else to make you a full system if you want custom. PM me if you want me to organise a quote or just to drop around for a chat seeing as you're local.
  19. The cheap Import brand wheel cleaner from Autobarn works great for the price. Spray your callipers too. If you are worried about the polished alloy, try the less agressive acid free ones, but they dont work as well.
  20. People say the rods are made of glass, I just think the tuners in the US ramp too much timing in. They should be good for 280-300kw imo with the NA rods but look at the prices for US aftermarket piston/rod kits, it would make a great built motor with twins. The 6 speed should be fine, as with any box it would depend how you drive I guess.
  21. I work on Nathan road too, that 34 looks great and I see yours all the time Karl. Hook me up with some steel buddy.
  22. Thats where I got all my Sumitomo pins and clips, they were fairly well priced as I remember.
  23. I have seen 4.11 crown wheels for the 350z, I cant remember where though but it would have been in the US. Facepalm to ripping out a VQ and slapping a VL tractor engine in.
  24. Make your own, they arent anything special. Get some OFC audio wire and make up a solid copper plate for the engine with tapped threads. Make sure you use spring washers so the bolts bite in and not come loose.
  25. How did you go with the 3.5 install? Was it all you hoped with the stock 2.5 turbo? Bullshit. You dont need a 1200hp turbo, a GT35 will hit nearly 400kw, come on at 2500 if done right, and not have to rev past 7k. Revs over that are just wank and damaging your engine, not to mention costing you a fortune. What is your power goal anyway? Like I said, you need advice but refuse to give us the information we require to help you properly. Dont just listen to your workshop, they dont know all as you have found out.
