M35 Stagea P0121 Throttle Problem
scotty nm35 replied to ONCE-NA's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Probably a few cars, but make sure the p/n is the same. Try Amayama, Nissan will sting you hard for the pedal sensor. -
Daz just got his car back, we drained the e85 out of it as it had been sitting for 1.5 years in the workshop with the lines open. It still read much the same ethanol content... I'm going to dump it in the evo and see how it goes. I wouldn't track on it, but daily it should be fine.

I should be able to help you out with most of those issues, if you want to PM me we can have a chat Tristan. -
M35 Stagea P0121 Throttle Problem
scotty nm35 replied to ONCE-NA's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Plenty of times, either the throttle resistor on the back of the pedal, or the throttle itself is likely the issue, unless you have a wiring fault between them and the ecu. What codes are the ecu throwing? Is it only the P0121? That seems to relate to the pedal sensor. When the throttle goes into limp mode it almost disables the throttle. It will sit on 1200 revs, enough to drive out of problems and get off the road. You can actually get more throttle out of it if you push the pedal all the way to the floor, but it is quite dangerous, especially as it happens randomly. -
There was never much interest in Emanage installs in Australia as there were so many other (better) options for standalone control. I think your best bet may be contacting Jesse Streeter and seeing if the harness is available new in Japan, as Greddy Australia closed down a fair while ago.

Help-do Ethanol Content Sensors Read Methanol?
scotty nm35 replied to sky30's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
We did the same thing in Artz's 33, other than we had to drop the petrol tune on with the laptop near the border. A simple switch would have done the job. Doesn't make much difference, you still need two tunes, but I can see the practicality of it. -

New gasket and ARP's. Now you have found the pressure limits of the stock motor, you will know how far you can push other rb's before a similar thing happens. -
Help-do Ethanol Content Sensors Read Methanol?

None, and I assume they are fairly reliable seeing they are used in OEM applications, but they are also monitored by the stock ecu, and there are huge safety margins in place. I don't think I could ever fully rely on a sensor like this for turbo tuning unless I had two of them to compare. The less variables in the tune the better imo. Same goes for wideband target mapping, without a pair of sensors running simultaneously you would have no idea if they are accurate. -

If the head hadn't already lifted I would say to try replacing with ARP's one at a time, but as it is now too late, there is a good chance the gasket is damaged. -
The injectors have a filter inside, so they won't be damaged or block instantly, or ever from my experience of running 30 micron. You can get them back-flushed and cleaned if they get dirty, but you may not read one injector leaning out on a wideband to know it it's flowing less. The only way to tell is to put them in a flow test bench, hence why I bought one. Not sure what filtration Bosch recommend for before the 044 either, but most of the socks I have seen don't have much in the way of filtration. I would probably be ditching the prefilters as Trent mentioned, or swapping to a coarse mesh.

Options For New Inlet Manifold - 100mm, Retain Itbs
scotty nm35 replied to dorifticon's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Fair enough. I have designed and fabricated pipework on many high horsepower builds, and there are a lot of good reasons to keep the airspeed up. If you want to slow it down as much as possible, who am I to judge. Just letting OP know the GTR runs one of the best intercooler pipe setups I have seen on a stock car, and it's capable of 600+kw in my opinion, as long as high boost is involved. As for pressure gauges, it isn't telling you much about the pipework, only how well the intercooler flows and if it's cooling the charge nicely. Pressure readings mean nothing without temperature drop. -
No offence taken, just trying to sort you out. Your choice if you listen. If you use 10 micron you may need to change the filter every few months from my experience, otherwise your fuel system may lean out. (and I don't particularly like paper elements anymore for e85.) Do you know the micron rating on the stock Ryco filter? Most guys just run that, so whatever micron those run will be perfect I guess.
-
Why not run 1 micron filters then? Because they would constantly block, and that would be a pain in the arse, perhaps taking your engine. ID don't make injectors, so perhaps Bosch would be a better place to ask if my 5+ years running the same Bosch ev14 1000's isn't enough for you.

I love dual mass self adjusting clutches. Why you would go lightweight single over factory for the street I have no idea.
-
The colder weather is more likely the cause of your better response, unless the tune was modified.

scotty nm35 replied to dorifticon's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
You seriously think you will lose 10psi through 80mm pipework at this power? No chance. Some people just want it to look like they have a 2000hp drag car, and this I can totally understand. I just prefer finding out if the stock gear can get the job done before blowing 1000's on overnight parts from Japan, and I am confident it will in this situation. The same can't be said about exhausts, these need to be as you mentioned, least amount of bends, largest free flowing pipes you can fit. Same with intakes really if you don't have to worry about defects. -

I agree, until such time it lets you down. I was told these sensors are actually reading what percentage isn't ethanol, not sure how correct this is. -

I have a full exhaust here, but hopefully there is someone closer for you. (unless you drive down to Melbourne occasionally.) -
Help-do Ethanol Content Sensors Read Methanol?
scotty nm35 replied to sky30's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just premix the fuel and don't run the sensor. One less thing to worry about. -
GTSBoy is on the money, I just assumed you had an aftermarket ecu, as otherwise there is no point to change the reg. Run high boost and you may need to drop your fuel pressure, as most pumps drop off badly in flow after 70-80psi.

M35 Stagea P0121 Throttle Problem

If the relay was the issue I can only assume you had water filling the battery compartment, make sure you push the rubber bung out of the bottom so it doesn't happen again. -
Hot Side Piping Question
scotty nm35 replied to Strick.'s topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Every Tbolt clamp I have pressure tested leaks badly, as there is no clamp pressure between the points where the bolt does up. I only use standard Norma style worm clamps, they should only be tightened when the engine bay is hot, too hard and they will fail obviously. Running up to 40psi with no dramas here. -
For Those Who Have Done The "twin Turbo" Pipe Mod
scotty nm35 replied to djvoodoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Was planning to do a before and after on Daz's car, as he plans to run one if it helps with flow. Should help even on a stock car as the front turbo entry is pretty bad. Cheap and inconspicuous, I like those kind of mods.
