  1. Hook line and sinker....
  2. Thanks. I cant wait for the tune. Anyone have an F-con V pro laying around?
  3. Well if its a pissing contest....
  4. I agree, my stage 1 sierra highflow did very well for what it was but the response wasn't quick, at say 4000 revs it would take twice the time to spool as the GTX, possibly because the larger housing allows more energy to spin up the turbine, and less restriction? I wasn't expecting a faster response anyway... It would be good to have some direct comparisons, especially if as many factors as possible are controlled. Same car, same dyno would be good but realistically it isn't going to happen. The more information the better.
  5. The 2000's I saw were very short, half size. Hopefully they are fine with petrol but most of the guys running them are on ethanol im guessing...
  6. Its a pleasure to drive, the large housing really improves the low end and gives a more gradual rise in power, like a V8. Its running rich as at the moment so its going to make a few kw thats for sure. As im running the exhaust temp sensor before the turbo now I can lean out the fuel at cruise, its running 17:1 at the moment no problem, only seeing 650 degrees. It does feel a bit doughy with less bang from the mix but if I get Cihan to tune it a little richer just above cruise it should feel perfect.
  7. Im not removing all my gear, I just installed it... To make a jig for the exhaust (dump/front pipe) I would need a lot more space than I have available. You saw the state of my little workshop. Perhaps you should wait until I upgrade. lol.
  8. I was told by my local wholesaler AZNEW a few weeks ago that the Bosch 2000cc injectors are actually designed for gas, as in lpg I guess, and aren't necessarily going to last in petrol applications due to possible o-ring compatibility issues. They told me not to bother as I was running ethanol. The 1000's are fine, not sure about the 1600's as I don't know which body they are made from. I wonder if it has something to do with this issue...
  9. A week under my car on my back in the cold, and its only just finished. Give me a while to rest please. You would have to buy the turbo, leave your car with me for a week or two and leave a big wad of notes when you pick it up. The result is amazing though. I need to plumb the screamer back in soon, it hits boost too quick to catch the gate sometimes. Its a matter of time before someone hears.
  10. Not really, stress fractures can come from nowhere. I guess you could get them x-rayed like pro welders have done when working on critical piping etc but if she wants them just a clean up and check for possible cracks then get them balanced without the tyre to make sure they are straight? (you would need to ask specifically as they often wont tell you if they are wobbly at the tyre shop.) If you find a suspected crack there are a few compounds around that can show up small cracks, I cant remember their names, they seep into the crack and glow fluorescent.
  11. I got Denso Iridium plugs with 160,000 km service length, gapped at 0.9. The gap was well over 2mm within a year and 20,000ks and starting to break down. Perhaps its the ethanol and high boost but I wouldn't believe the marketing hype too much... That said, they look good, I wouldn't mind giving them a go myself.
  12. Hahaha. You can sit in the passenger seat, it may smell a bit, Aaron had a crap there, and Sharon will too when she hears the gate, she doesn't know about it. I cant wait to scare the crap outa her. lol.
  13. a) Yes b) No c) No d) Yes Do I get a star sticker now, or a smiley face stamp?
  14. It sounds like the reversion I used to get when the bov was plumbed in at 90degrees, some would blow back up the pipe and through the afm causing it to stall. I dont know if its useful to you.
  15. Calder park is open for drags most Friday nights and Saturday, you get more runs in on Saturday so lets organise it sometime soon. Want me to pencil in a date?
  16. Sunday hopefully. Who's up for a Calder run?
  17. Where have you been hiding Trent? Some pics of the exhaust and screamer.
  18. Is she hot? Just kidding... I'm not sure I would buy rims off a wreck, how would you know if they were buckled or not? A crack may appear months later.
  19. No unexpected noises...
  20. After a quick road tune, the GTX3071 is living up to its promises. Transient response is crazy, it spools to 20psi in what seems like one second. Im going for a run on the dyno on Sunday at this stage so I will post it up as soon as I have the graph. Install thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/368795-gtx3071-install/
  21. The screamer lives up to its name. lol. I think i'm a little deaf now. I will have to plumb it back in but I want a tune and one run at Calder first. Drives great, I dont know what all the fuss is with regards to the larger housing, from what I saw it has around 10psi by 3500 and 20psi by 4k. The transient response is bullshit, hitting gate within around a second of me flooring it. Much more responsive than the old highflow. (sorry ironpaw) *chuckles* Other than overheating because I didnt bleed the cooling system properly the install went without issue. No leaks, no noise, smooth power delivery, what more could I ask.
  22. It runs, no leaks, i'm off for a road tune.
  23. Haha, never happy are you mate. The general consensus is more boost not less. What are you worried about?
  24. That should be a common enough size to find. I can make you one any size if you like but im in Hampton park. Other option is a laser cutter, get the drawing off the Garrett website.
