I snuck a small flat blade screwdriver behind the cover and poked it too see the gasket hadn't dropped out. Don't do the cover bolts tight until you have checked.

For big power its recommended to run a group 4 or 5 oil. Not sure what the Penrite synthetics are like, I use Gulf western Sougi 6000, most will say Motul 300v if you have the coin. Look in the oils thread, performance section for more info. I would do lobster bends for the intake mate.

Thats what I have in mine, shifts perfectly. I would guess a day max, you only have to drop the pan, unscrew the valve body, modify it with the new springs and valves, then refit it. Fill with fluid and you are good to go. The box doesn't have to be removed for that.

The bolts are shouldered so you cant tighten the cam cover past a certain point. It still looks like theres a gap and you cant tell if the gasket is in the groove properly. Fun.

It looks reasonable to me for a 640hp capable turbo. I doubt you would get a GT35 on boost that early. I just think you are strangling the exhaust with the small housing, I would have gone the .82 or bigger with an external gate. Its like putting a .63 rear on a GT35, its no good for top end so why go so big in the first place.

Lol. I thought you were complaining about the gasket falling out but you havent made it that far yet. I use a 1/4 socket set only, for the rear ones I use the uni joint and a few extensions I think.

They look exactly the same, I havent tried the vq35 ones in mine though.

The bigger the better, 3 inch or 80mm would be fine for that power though.

VVTI 1j's have very small ports though, I was surprised when I compared them to the VQ's. I was planning to go for the gtx3076 but looking at the flow island it wasnt any wider than the GT3076, much higher though so the wheel should be much more efficient at high boost. Instead I went the GTX3071 as the efficiency should be much better for more of the rev range. Thats my theory anyway. I should have it tuned next week hopefully, I have plenty of work to do before then though.

You want it locked on the dyno. I cooked the stock auto at 180kw after a few hours of power runs. The issue is the way the auto tries to lock the torque converter under power when in manual mode.

Just disconnecting the boost side hose into the solenoid should fix it, as long as thats the one with the restrictor which has to remain in place.

Working under a few of these, they all have some rust, mainly on the exhaust but some I have seen the chassis rails on the way out. Always best to take a torch and go over it, just in case... I did before I bought mine.

On gas? Who would have thought... lol. I don't think it will be a problem for those of us with the engine light up, and the boost solenoid missing in action. It seems to just lower the boost luckily.
