How To Modify R33 Gtr Airbox To Get More Air :)
scotty nm35 replied to Daz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Trent's dyno isn't accurate, because it isn't in NSW. Daz at this power level you won't get much help from these guys, how many have cracked 500 let alone on the stock airbox, piping and cooler? -
This Website Is Now Pathetic. Sau Has Gone To The Dogs
scotty nm35 replied to turboadam's topic in R35 GTR
This is my point, and to prove it, how many DIY threads do you see in this R35 GTR section on SAU? As Ash has said, a forum is only as good as it's content. Information doesn't just appear on here, it has to be learnt the hard way, then shared freely. -

True. Stick to Facebook. Much higher class of people on there. All us VQ blokes have had issues over the years, most of the RB owners were never interested in our work and many arguments have been started over it in the Stagea section, but we got over it, and now the Stagea section is stronger for it. Sooking about it won't help at all, you need to stick by your guns and stand up for yourselves, as no-one else will. The reason there isn't much information for the R35 is due to the cost of the cars, most owners just take their GTR to a specialist mechanic, there is little DIY anywhere on the net for it. As the price comes down there will be a flood of info on common issues, like the bellhousing rattles and gearbox fixes. -
Considering the fuel pump, injectors and turbo are the critical parts to a high performance car, these are the parts you should be spending big on. Skimping will only end in tears, and retunes are so damn expensive these days, almost the cost of the local injectors you should have bought. You haven't asked what I can do decent Xspurts for, or how good my after sales service is, you just went to ebay and expected the first cheap injector would do the job. But you will obviously get no help from Ebay sellers, and returning them when they aren't up to the task is expensive or impossible. It's your coin at the end of the day, just offering our hard earned knowledge as we have all been in your position before.

V35, Vdc, Slip And Immobilizer Light All On?
scotty nm35 replied to timw's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Depends where you take it. Pretty simple to swap it yourself with basic tools. -
Perhaps the Ebay bloke would be the man to ask, seeing he is selling them? lol. I think Johnny used these, he posted in the top feed thread recently.

Yes, somehow my 7 had a twin puck 10.5 rear which Stao machined. I am mighty impressed with it so far, lets see what it can do once i get the coil packs fitted. Needs moar spark.
-
Of course. Most of them need customising to fit anyway. They have tested them to 800hp apparently and 40psi.
-
270kw on 20psi, with spark breaking down. I am ordering a Yaris coil on plug setup from the US to take care of the spark and run more boost, but I doubt it will be here by the 29th. It has plenty of power atm though, more than enough for my meagre skillz.
-
I assume it would depend what rear housing it's stuffed into as well Stao. At least the turbo is easy to remove on the evo. lol
-
GTR owners do this constantly. So, the yellow emo is track ready. Who will be at Rexmas to see it's first hot laps? Passenger laps ftw. I wish I had bought an evo years ago, this thing is a ball tearer.
-
I'm just a little worried about enlarging the turbine, as I have 6psi at 2k atm.
-
So there is more in it? I have a 2.3 and can't see how it could make any more torque down low, it is very strong off boost already. I will speak to Stao about it, I only just got it up and running but I am impressed with it so far, 260 at 20 seems pretty good, the response is excellent so far.

The main issue is the GCG Garrett cores don't seem to like being shoved into small housings and boosted hard, I suspect high manifold pressure increases thrust load on the bearings to the point of early demise. The M35 Stagea ones they made all had wicked bearing whine in no time. The moral of the story should be to keep a Garrett chra in Garrett housings for best results. Added to the fact Hypergear's SS2 billet compressor highflow wipes the floor with GCG's offering for half the coin... I just don't see the point just to retain a BB cartridge, it is impossible to tell the difference between a good bush core and BB's these days imo. Hypergear can of course make BB and ceramic BB cores if you are keen, but I am more than happy with the ss2 bush core in my evo.

In Need Of A 6Mt Gearbox.

I would just get a wrecker box, or fix the one you have. Importing a CD009 is an expensive exercise. Out of interest, what fluids are in the box you currently have? If it is just a bearing let go it may be an inexpensive fix. I have a complete box here for parts, and bearings are cheap enough. -

No, the rears won't fit without illegal adapters, the only rear two pots are V35 brembos or 350z brembos, or you can go with the Akebono's perhaps, off the 370's. -
Youre selling them Daz? Something better in the pipeline? Buy these, they are great turbos and have done hardly any work. More than enough power to split a block. lol.
-
Keep the Fujitsubo legalis, it's a great system. Your car has other issues momo.

No More Caltex E85 (E-Flex) In Sa?
scotty nm35 replied to DaveB's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
6L would be ok. I used to add that much anyway in winter just to help with chilly cold starts. 10L of 98 would work fine too. It isn't too critical, ethanol gives you a fair safety margin, and the chance you will foul plugs is minimal. The wideband is standalone, you don't need to plug it into the Nistune. I use mine for road tuning and to make sure the mixtures are ok. -

I picked up the front Ksports for $700, on their first set of pads. I still have my gold 34 GTR front brembos here to sell Lakes, rebuilt and ready to track...
