  1. If it's trailered to the track, I don't see an issue with the surge. If he drives it... Perhaps not a great idea. I would run the surge as the best option, but hide it well if used on road.
  2. Another GCG fail. Just buy it from Japan. Or better, replace the whole gate with a Turbosmart.
  3. You can check for combustion carbon in the coolant easily, but more likely it is either still in need of bleeding, or the radiator cap isn't sealing properly.
  4. Nope, I just use what works and is available from any auto parts store. Synthetic is just a bonus. As the only bloke to ruin 2 boxes so far, I have good experience to offer.
  5. The 71 map just looks better everywhere to me.
  6. It depends where the surge tank is mounted, if it's inside the car I would want motorsport fittings, not push on rubber lines. Underneath, there are still rocks and crap flicking up... Or just run with a full tank like I do.
  7. If in doubt about the flow matching, just run the next size up drill bit through them mate. Sheelberight.
  8. If you can't get your username right, how do you expect to learn all there is to know about 1000hp GTR's in a few weeks? It's so damn confusing. Which one is your real username Pete?
  9. Aren't they in twin setup? I guess you would need 3 gauges at least... I have a set here if you were local. Shouldn't take too long to do once the gauges are plugged in.
  10. I have seen a few cracked blocks lately on cars running e85, seems the cylinder pressure just splits the bore from bottom to top. It's totally up to your tuner, and how much timing he decides to run, I hope he is good because you can't see massive cylinder pressure, and you can't know when it is too much for your block to handle. My suggestion is to keep the bore thick, not oversize the pistons. Or perhaps sleeve the block...any strength there will help.
  11. High G force turns on slicks will pretty much ruin any chances of keeping the fuel around the pump pickup. Looks like you need a decent surge tank setup. I guess now you need to decide on a budget, because braided teflon and fittings aren't cheap... Will you be looking at an external pump, or trying to fit the walbro into the surge tank?
  12. My 71 spools up nicely, I agree. I ended up making similar power as the 76 was cranking out, must be a brick wall somewhere in the system. (probably my stock cams and 220mm cooler) I feel the 71 is perfect on my 2.5L, the 67 should be very interesting on 2L. I am interested in results mainly as I think it would make a good turbo for my 2.3L evo, still undecided as to how far to go with it, stock transfer case and all.
  13. Have you tried simply bleeding the cooling system? If it overheated a little it will probably have air in the system.
  14. Looks like Bayside blue to me... Decision made.
  15. The Auto helped a lot, big semis, stock stall converter, softish rear... I drove it and was seriously impressed, especially with the auto controller. Damn shame it didn't last... Why there was no footage of the drift day that killed my spare tyres Greg? I am quite sure it wasn't hooking up then... Time for a c34 Stagea shell mate. You have all the good bits for it already.
  16. Same here. I just fitted a pair of Ksport 8 piston callipers to the front, trying to increase front braking bias. Seems to have done the trick. The pads are twice the size of the 34 GTR Brembos I had on there. Still only a 330mm disk for clearance under the stocky V35 18's. I need to find some decent pads for them now, as they have Bendix in them.
  17. Surely you knew that would happen when the tech night was discussed mate. Any advertising is good advertising after all.
  18. In before Aaron.
  19. Anyone else got 5 years of continuous daily experience to contribute? Flex fuel doesn't count.
  20. GTR bayside blue.
  21. The only obvious answer is Stagea. No security required, better engine, EPA exempt, unique no-ego design.
  22. Engine oil is a bit thin, I only use 5w40 or 10w40 these days. Perhaps as the engines get older they seem to like a slightly thicker oil to stop the valve train noise. Try and run synthetic and change regularly, these engines run too hot for lax servicing intervals. For Matic J i use Nulon synthetic as a direct substitute. The rest I totally agree with.
  23. I am guessing my 7 won't have much in the way of traction when it finally gets put back together.
  24. Will be there for free food, will be bringing the kids if that's ok, they need a good feed.
