  1. Not from where I live, couple of mates are connected but the nearest point to me has too many trees/houses in the way and would require a very large tower to pick up. I've thought about using Adam's communitynet to route through another user on my exchange, but limited to ~50kBps isn't too appealing.
  2. Sounds strangely familiar I've thought about moving over to FreeBSD, sort of holding back though as I'm lazy and don't want to re-learn bits and pieces, but I would be keen to give ZFS a look. Notice you're in Adelaide, on Air-Stream by any chance?
  3. Speaking of Frewville maccas, theres always a white 33 in the carpark with P plates around lunch time. Anyone here? Theres a chick on drive thru that always says nice comment to imports too Always too lazy to make lunches >.>
  4. I've been planning a carpc for my 33 for the past few months, so far I have.. Lilliput 7" LED backlit LCD Intel 1.6ghz dual core mini-itx atom Fusion Brain (for controlling windows, sunroof etc) 320gb SATA drive (looking in to ssd/sd/cf options) M4-ATX 12v PSU (still to be ordered) 4x50wrms for speakers 1x1500wrms driving 2x12" pioneers I've had the pc side running off an inverter using Centrafuse 2 as a frontend to test it all out, however the pc parts have been pulled out until I can find a nice way to mount the screen and i actuall order a 12v psu. I've seen pics on here of someone whos moulded the same screen to his dash which looked nice. Hoping to keep the head unit in place though for tactile volume & controls as well as fm and cd playback, no need to mount a cd drive then! What frontends are people using? And pics of screen installs!
  5. Steve Ballmer, Windows 7 party edition!
  6. Playing isn't too bad, seeking and copying/ripping over 100mbit can be time consuming though. Gbit network cards are cheap and reasonable 8p switches can be had for just over 100 bucks so I don't see why not.
  7. Could be interesting...
  8. Would this be the one? Often see a black 33 on st bernards/newton which I guess is probably you And a black 34 at an office building I was working at today on fullarton rd.
  9. Gonna try to drive up on the saturday for a look around, don't think the cars quite show spec yet!
  10. Currently have a c2d running debian with samba being one of its services, 2tb of storage accross 4 hdd's in hotswap bays with a unionfs mount shared to make easier browsing from the media pc, also a dedicated drive that my satellite STB records to over the network. Could use an LVM but I don't like the redundancy or expansion paths. Currently waiting for a 4 port sata card so I can add in more hdd's, always out of space. IMO those home NAS devices are too limited and don't offer enough flexibility for expansion and often have horrible configuration. VMware server runs an '03 box among other things for ftp/newsgroup/torrent downloading. Everything connected via gbit lan, 100mbit is baaaad for those blu rays =D Anyone tried UNRAID? looks good for a pure fileserver option but won't run properly virtualised!
  11. You working this week Nismoid? Keen for some game, it's been a long enough break
  12. [quote name='scandyflick' date='2 Oct 2009, 04:49 PM' post='4858689' its cause adam sucks. they apparently cap uploads aswell. balls. shits gonna be frustrating for the next 12 days. They count uploads OR downloads, whichever is the highest. Also you can head to the members page and buy yourself a small, or large data block to get yourself unshaped for the rest of this month.
  13. yep, thats pretty bad. You can find yor sync speed in the modems config pages too, normally under something like statistics/line settings If you're syncd well above 6kbps then it's time to call your isp to see wtf is going on, could be backhaul issues or incorrectly shaped, if the sync speed matches the download speed then it's also time to call your isp and lodge a line fault. Which ISP btw
  14. Sync speed & snr? Grab a test file to see what sort of speeds you're downloading at, if your ISP doesn't have any grab one of internodes http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/test/10meg.test
  15. Anyone know of a decent paintshop in north east suburbs that can match and re-paint a small plastic panel on short notice?
  16. Are we doing one this week?
  17. Banning games and movies is just plain stupid. Not too worried about servers being a problem, plenty of rackspace around for unnoficial ones , most adsl2 connections have enough bandwidth to host a l4d game too. Hopefully it turns out to be a good game, wonder how Valve feels about Australia wanting all of it's gaming citizens to pirate l4d2.
  18. WTB: Passenger side fog light surround, still Please PM.
  19. Have it on PC, playing with a 40" hdtv and wireless 360 controller. Raged at the start of the game where it forces you to watch the shitty intro videos, wtf no skip? fags. Normal racing game play is pretty fun, trainer for infinite nos and stacks of cash ftw :> Just got up to the drift events, biggest shit waste ever, GRID wins hands down. And it sucks you have to play every damn race to unlock the decent cars, I don't want to play the stupid game just race GT-R, Zonda and a Veyron around the track and get on with my day. I'd say the plain old racing parts are pretty good and the rest is very average. Oh, and whats with the steering on some of the cars, full lock is like the wheels only turned 1/4 way, seems particularly bad on the s14
  20. Yeah there was an old pulsar and a golf gti iirc, that rx7 seemed pretty gutsy and chucked some killer flames.
  21. Yeah that 34 was VERY nice. Also spotted ripp3r and a few other 32's. susrx7 a bit earlier in the night at houghton. And plenty of cops around the suburbs being nice and friendly to absolutely everyone.
  22. I haven't double booked next thurs (yet ) and have added a reminder in both personal and work calendars so it cant be double booked. I've also got at least 1 friend who is keen to join in on a game. so me + 1 for next week.
  23. anyone going on psi cruise tomorrow night? >.>
