  1. In addition, in order to preserve you license, you can advise that you will be contesting the matter, and by the time you get a summons you should have (hopefully) points back so you can pay the fine and any admin fee and still have a license. At any time before you actually appear in court you can pay the fine and the matter is finished. It is no substitute for good driving, but simply a means to keep your license and learn to keep it clean. Edit: your points are not deducted until you pay the fine.
  2. Nick, I'm with SK. I find the spring rate too high for street or circuit. It makes the car nervous near the limit and that lowers confidence in the car. I like the quality of the product, although the piston tube seems a little small, and the ride height seems a little low at it's highest setting, but I'll let Chris and the guys at Centreline sort that when I get the new engine in. I will be softening the springs a fair bit before then too, but if you buy the soft springs and don't like them, you are welcome to trade for mine.
  3. You got nothin' buddy. Get on your bike or that chaff cutter sounding thing you drive. I take it you refer to Snowies trip North.
  4. Unfortunately you need a full cage to use them at CAMS events. Also a porrly setup car will turn a set of slicks to loops of useless rubber quicker than you can say "bank loan" (a necessity for the cost) Jack, I can see why you are disappointed with that zero potential barge of yours. I heard it run some big numbers. Did you take it to Perth????
  5. Overall cost, no. The engine in the T is just too fragile while many of the engine support systems need upgrading, the shocks are dogs while I know a few GTR drivers on stock suspension are quick enough to seem uncatchable in the T. The brakes are better enough to be a worthy cheap upgrade to the T, the track of a GTR is much wider, the seats are better for track, the engine can produce more power without a new turbo setup, around 250rwkw at 1 bar on stock computer, already has a decent FMIC. A few misconceptions. The GTR engine costs the same to rebuild as an RB25, similar pistons, same rods when upgrading, same oil pump, bearings etc. They are not unbeatable. They will have accidents and run off the track. They are no more expensive to look after or run that a T. They are nice to drive but are doughy as hell off boost so not as easy to drive in traffic.
  6. Yeah, I see what you mean by the wheels. The effort I've put into a GTS25t to make it quick at the circuit is substantial, and I'm a fair steerer as well so that has to be considered. The GTR is a far superior starting platform for all aspects, even motorkhanas of the type we ran recently. Don't get me wrong, the GTS is still my preferred choice for the track, but I'm stupid and like overcoming obstacles and setting challenges.
  7. I bought a new car once.......only once. Never again. Since I'm not after chicks (married 17 years) that side is solved and I don't care to be noticed, but I get mobbed by kids wanting a look and young guys in imports who love a real GTR and know the difference. I never really had the hero worship thing going for GTR's, and to me it's just a faster car with a pedigree, but some love them and some say they hate them or say they are for people who can't drive (but really just want one, they know it, they would whore themselves off for a drive) but I have what I want, and I know I can drive them to near potential so it's all cool for me.
  8. It's a different car to drive, but not harder, just very very different and the fun of pulling through a sweeper 30-40kmh faster is the sheer rush. I've found the GTR33 to be quicker and more precise/less taily than GTR32/GTS25t, but it suits my driving style, and watching the GTR prodigy vid again the other day saw the V35 almost take the GTR32 at Tsukuba while the GTR33 cleared out, and the evo/sti/GTR34 were goooone. I have a track GTS25t that is coming along nicely and once fully sorted will compete with the GTR's on track (and will be a pig on the road) but I'm also doing a little track with the GTR33 and will have a look at Winton in 2 weeks. The car demonstrated it's potential on crap rubber and garbage Apexi suspension at DECA. I managed a 6th amongst some worthy competition. Now I have some good rubber we'll see what can be done. I think the market is making a move as they get older, and I think GTR32 is well priced from 20-25K (unless seriously modified), but 30-40K is about the max I think a GTR33 can/should pull down unless really well improved and then you have to find an appreciative buyer. Maybe I got lucky with 12K of Racepace engine and nice but annoyingly wide wheels at 30K but I wouldn't have gone past 40K for one of the very lastest GTR33's in stock trim, even though money wasn't an issue. It's unfortunate that the sellers don't get what they want but if they have to sell, and the market won't pay what is asking, then something has gotta give. You will never get back what you have put in, dollars wise, and a car should never be treated as an investment. Use it, enjoy it, and sell it (or collect the whole set if you're like me).
  9. I have these really badly busted pistons........ And where the hell are the sexual purple ones?? Had to get Bargeside Blue
  10. Just wondering if I can stretch to a couple of nights and come up friday as well......
  11. I'm talking of just normal driving, except when the wheelspin cuts in. I have an aversion to adding to the Vic government coffers. In the GTR33 I find there has to be some loss of traction to get a visible response from the front torque guage, but you can barely feel it. edit, adding to that, the GTR33 has a fixed front torque preload, while the GTR32 does not, resulting in a more RWD feel. I have been for a spin in Snowmans GTR34 but not driving so I won't comment, but if the improvement is as great as the GTR33 is over the GTR32 then it's good, damn good.
  12. 7. GTR guards ah, scrap it and get a GTR!!!! Cool Brendan. Still moving to Qld?
  13. Hah, I've been literally owned in the 220rwkw GTSt track car by a stock imprezza, in the wet. I simply couldn't get smooth power down with a ceramic button clutch and once the wheels start slipping it's a done deal, and that was just normal traffic driving trying to get going up a hill, not "street racing". In the GTR in the wet, as you take off the front torque transfer almost immediately swings well up the dial. You can drive like it's dry and just take off normally. With 260atw it's pretty easy to induce wheelspin but it's really only 3 that do spin unless using a slippery diff. Some of you guys spend too much time reading magazines. Get on the track and you'll soon work it out.
  14. Gordon, if they have been used a bit but never cornered hard (or only occasionally) then the heat cycles will reduce the durometer (softness) dramatically. So they will still be good, but not as sticky when push comes to hot lap The ones I have now will do a few track events and then be toast due to the exceptionally high durometer, but I intend to do most of the next track day on standard road rubber, then throw these on for a session or two to attack the best lap time I can.
  15. Pah, just get a condo in Cancun and watch the show on telly.
  16. Might come for the look now it's full, but expect no emergency backup car. You guys drive like me!!
  17. Paul, just pop the plastic sail backing piece off, then use a 10mm socket to remove the (I think) 3 bolts and unplug the electrics.
  18. I have a set of the RE55 TT's for the next outing. Hope it's cold. They just melt....
  19. And they don't last long, but nice and grippy for the racetrack.
  20. CC, careful. That quote may just appear soon in a signature near you.
  21. I think it's hilarious that none of the other team Wang guys have posted, and I just can't hold off anymore. We race with the WRX club Vic. Guess what?? Both cars are pretty close around a circuit, but the most important mod is the quality of the DRIVER!! At the recent Motorkhana the top of the field was WRX STi RA, GTR, GTR, 350Z, WRX STi, GTR. The rwd's didn't do great there but were mostly too Busy smokin' them up and having fun. A case in point is the high placing of the 350, and that was me in 6th, again on standard rubber while the guns were on their semi's. At the track the STi's can be anywhere from front of field with the GTR's, or back with me in my track GTSt, so at PI anywhere from 1:50'S back to 2:00 (my time on street rubber) or 2:10 for the hacks and slower GTSt's but good steerers in a non STi can be around the 1:55 to 2:10. I'm yet to track the GTR, maybe next Winton round as the track car is off the road. For each individual driver there is one measure to live by. How well YOU drive. Don't talk it up, just go out and have a go, then next time try to improve against yourself. Eventually you will be in a position to know when you are extracting the most from your car, and then you can compare times. But keep it off the streets. That's just for wankers who are too afraid to go to the strip or circuit.
  22. Mmmm PNG is still a bit of a risk. As for snow, well it's never a holiday, just a wild hard drinking time with lotsa exercise and speed rush. I used to ski at the Army champs and have missed it a lot since the accident. Last time we had a chalet with an outdoor spa, and we'd sit around drinking my highly volatile homemade dark&stormy's for 2 hours after the days skiing. Some of us were competing on 2 hours sleep a night. Made tha falls easier/softer when you're relaxed. Family meet huh? Hope you both survive.
  23. On my GTR33 I have 275 35 18"s over what I think are 10.5" wide rims. On lock it rubs the wheel arch liners and the BOV in the right front. Not very keen on that but what do you replace TE37's of that size with? With the sizes, a calculator should help with rolling circumference, I think duncan has one. Something like what Rick said above would be fine as the wal would only be offset a small amount. On the GTSt I use 235 front and 255 rear on the same size rims.
  24. What?? No Thailand and Koh Samui?? Were going back for 3 weeks in Thailand with most of it in Samui about the same time this year. Have 2 extra friends this year to make 6 so we'll have to hire a big yank convertible for the island laps
  25. He'll fit right in won't he? First sign of sun he lobsters up........ BTW I hear rumblings of some ford sierra POS
