  1. To be honest, I think you get what you pay for unless you are capable of doing it yourself. Now I have joked about paying 30K for a Racepace tune, but on inspecting the receipts it appears I have paid for a Racepace tune and 12K of racepace engine with Argo's. That's a whole lot of peace of mind and a very good feeling.
  2. Ian, great to hear it made a difference. Keep up the good work. Chromoly bar still in research phase but coming soon.
  3. Jesus Al, you been hiding? Best you be at the Sandown track day or the next club meeting for a catch up before I pi55 of to Qld. Probably leaving late July this stage. I had a look today and the brace will come off easy as. Gotta be easier than trying to work around it. Even the GTSt is a biatch to work on back there.
  4. Mine are in the garage, since the TT went pear shaped.
  5. Yeah you were well into the intersection and stationary before it changed. I despise Hoddle. Wave next time you buzz me (although I was in the Soarer so who looks at them?).
  6. Fiberglass will be thicker and are usually chopped strand mat, therefore they will break up in a different way to CF or CF over fiberglass. You have to see the way CF shards, even off fiberglass, to really get a handle on it but from experience (not in an accident) it is sharp and can be painful. With the Kevlar layer in the CF layup it becomes part of the structure and changes it significantly. Kevlar is a titanium or tungsten thread coated with another product (can't remember) then made into mat. Marcus, thanks for that. I'm happy especially when I saw the $12K in receipts for the engine from Racepace and Argo. WooHoo. Check the for sale thread for more info..
  7. The stocker turb (even highflow) will be working so hard to make the boost it will be overheating the intake charge, causing lots of back pressure and generallly making the engine overwork, when a better matched turbo for you power will do it easily and efficiently. Don't even think about skimping $1000 for the PFC when the rebuild you are rapidly heading for will cost a lot more. I also hope you have a FMIC, and bigger injectors. A little detonation just trying to find the limit can end the ring lands life. I was making 220rwkw at 14psi with highflow turbo, 800hp FMIC, GTR pump and Malpassi reg, and the injectors were close to the limit so at 18 you will kill it. I'm now on my 3rd rebuild due to various problems, but the last one was me trying to go too hard without the support systems. Shortcuts work, but in a limited way. BTW my GTR makes 260rwkw with standard everything except a boost bleed and exhaust. Computer must be just a bit smarter.
  8. Try an email order, John is pretty good to deal with.
  9. Marcus, close but the issue is pedestrian accidents. CF not properly laid up with a layer of Kevlar will shatter and split in razor sharp shards, where the kevlar will hold it and make it fail more like aluminium, being more friendly to pedestrians. If you are thinking of having a CF bonnet consider the long term costs of paying fo medical care if you hit a pedestrian and injure them. State 3rd party may not cover it, or they may come after you for recompense.
  10. Me apparently, that is, I am a hoon. I dropped into my CU yesterday to get the cheque for the GTR and was told I'd be one of those Hoons, getting [another] Skyline, but how come I was wearing an Ozemail racing jacket if I drive an import. So from that I take it hoons drive imports, but you aren't a hoon if you have an Aussie V8 or something proper. I was pretty close to being impolite with the lady.
  11. Let em go around. Gotta look after yourself. I just hope there wasn't a camera on Hoddle at Albert when I saw the Nismoid run a red at 2:40 this afternoon [edit]J/K He was good. Hoddle is the worst piec of traffic in the country IMO
  12. Pretty much every friday is open practice $100. Tried their website?
  13. $50 at an exhaust place id the flanges are there, $100 if they aren't would be my limit.

  17. Ah, Emre is a morning person. I've never been to Ben's before, but the rep is good enough I'm paying 30K for one of his tunes
