GTR Injectors
GTRgeoff replied to Black Betty's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
But a bit of soldering and a set of (I think you mean) resistors for about $10 and they work fine, after a tune. Jaycar or Dick Smith 10 watt 10 ohm resistors should work fine. Measure the impedence (ohms) across the injectors and then make sure the total resistance comes between 13 and 15 ohms impedence on each injector. There is nothing magic about the GTR resistor pack so don't waste a penny on one. All you do is find the power wire to the injectors and then feed that through the resistor (you need six, one for each injector) to the injector, then the wires run back to the ecu which grounds each injector to open it for fuel delivery. Very easy entry level mod. -
Electric Water Pump & Thermo Fans
GTRgeoff replied to PurpleR32's topic in General Automotive Discussion
ylwgtr2 has put together a good twin thermo package on his GTR using falcon twin thermo's and a custom temp switch. Also I recall Sydneykid has nothing nice to say on the DC electric water pump. I recall the dispute Autospeed had with DC over the pump so my personal choice is to avoid it. -
Twilight Club Sprint @ Calder Park - Feb. 5th
GTRgeoff replied to Downforce's topic in Archived Events
Sorry I missed both the event and spectating. Also I have had to be a bit quiet, had to reinstall XP and the connection number changed on me, preventing login. Was going quietly insane without my SAU Great to hear of so many having a good time, and commiserations on the the tragedy Roy told me of. Hate to hear it. I hope everyone who needed them got the bonnet straps and I'll catch up at the next club meeting. -

Bad news team. I'm unable to tune out the high knock that has developed. I'm pretty sure a dirty load of fuel was the culprit and the fuel system needs attention so clean and new filter plus clean the injectors, so while I should be good to swing by and offer support, i have now withdrawn my entry. I'm not going to compromise a good engine for the sake of a single event. The O2 sensor gave me an extra 300 rpm at idle for some reason but still have the knock up around 100-140 Now to get the goodies together and get a tune with the lot. Reground GTR cams, 440CC injectors and the Z32 AFM. Anyone got an early GTR/R33GTSt hand controller they can lend me so I can have more of a play? Time to sort my laptop and get FC datalogit. -

Won't stop without brakes. We need to talk mate.......... -
What he said. Been there done that and burnt the crap out of my rear bumper and tail light. Blew a turbo hose and on the way to the pit had no idea 1.5 m of flame was spewin from the zorst. Dangerous and irresponsible are 2 other terms I would use for deliberately doing this.

That's great news. Might be that extra width for RB25/26 that is the only thing lacking in RB30.Ash, do you mean bearings or rods?

Skyline GTR Watches FOR SALE All Colours AVAILABLE!!
GTRgeoff replied to MYSHY32's topic in For Sale (Other Items)
Got mine Daniel. Happy with the quality. Unfortunately it's a bit tight on my meaty wrist but will make a great gift one day. -
Big ends use SR20, Mains from RB30 for the ACL (I used Race heat treated @ 140 AUD for the lot) but they are narrower than standard. Still a decent bearing though. Cameron, did the RB26 pistons give a noticeable reduction in compression? The rods are the same length (I use them in my 25) but I understand they have a significantly shorter pin to deck distance. Is the crank a different length? Too early in the morning to think....

I'm hoping the wet stays with us as mine has started showing some detonation (85 - 135) on Roys hand controller. Suspicious of the O2 sensor so I'm picking up a spare for comparison. -
Nup. I have some toyota 440cc injectors that are low impedence (3.3 ohm) so I need the resistors to protect the ECU. Daresay it will have little to do with the suspected peak hold facility on the Stag injectors. Time to throw a big auto multimeter on it SK and sample the injector signal. Oh...and the impedence

Cowie.....SSSssshhhhhh. Just got relocated to Technical Integrity in Army HQ. Something to do with policy and implementation. Over it already. long service in May and home to Qld (brissy) and out of the green.

Clutches and gearboxes mate, you're just rough!!!

Just for reference Nissan quoted me about $250 just for the front seal kit for a 33gtst. BANDITS!!
-
Hope to see you at the WRX sprint. Come along.
-
Sell em both and grab some HD systems height, stroke and damping adjustables with pillow ball tops from Unique Auto Sports in Sydney. Tell John that Geoff referred you. I'm very happy with mine and look forward to the next track event.

Mate, I'll take 5 off your hands. PM me payment details. Happy to direct deposit. In Melbourne.

R32 GTR Turbos - what will they fit
GTRgeoff replied to itbmils's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Possibly suit a low pressure installation on approx 1.8-2L engine. try the 4cyl ricers forum. Tell em it'll make a motza power and make out like a bandit. I've seriously thought of one of thes for my Laser Lynx as I feel the CT20 I have put away for a rainy day conversion is too big. -
Yep, these look great. Even though it's the early morning ramblings of a (most likely) pissed guy enjoying a late night lamb sandwich (souvlaki), Roy is telling the truth. Just to elaborate on a number of points: -The standard four piston calipers on GTSt's (32/33/34) are pretty good OEM stuff, better than sliding calipers of any type, -The GTR calipers, while an improvement are marginally better and not worth the exorbitant prices asked compared to REALLY good off the shelf product, eg. AP Racing calipers at ~ $800-$1000 each, but remember there are mounting brackets and discs and pads and possibly braided lines and labour so it will be costly, -An improvement can be made with larger discs as long as the caliper can accomodate the disc diameter without overhang of the pad, otherwise you are wasting pad and reducing possible swept area, -Drilled discs need to be changed more often and don't necessarily have any advantage other than less weight, but they have less heat capacity and are more susceptiblee to cracking. Slotted are the way to go. I'm in the process of preparing a tutorial on brake systems and the important elements in matching and balancing. Just slapping on bigger calipers without improving disc size, matching the master cylinder volume etc is a sure fire way to degrade the system feel and any chance of using good heel toe techniques.

No doubting the rex is good, but the GTR is ultimately better. Depends on individual preference and money. my point on the trailer is that if you aren't relying on driving it home, you will punt it a lot harder with confidence. If you want a lift you have to ring and ask.........
-
Hang on. Isn't it a dedicated trailered track car, fully stripped out interior with cage etc. not to mention an aggressive front splitter that I won't go into detail on the benefits of. Shows what can be done with the Rex. Scotsman though was stock on tired suspension with just a boost bleed and was going way faster than the stockish STi's that came along with Crazy Frank. The WRX that won in Targa came second to a GTR that was disqualified for an intercooler waterspray, in the wettest conditions for years. The rex has clearly been the wet weather performer for years thoguh in Targa. Both good, but this is a skyline forum. I'll add 1 final point. Ben in his R33GTR was lapping at 1:16 at Sandown on semi-comps. Lowndes V8 SC record in qualifying is 1:10 on slicks. WRX's are in the mid 20's. Now that is a measure of GTR potential.
