My Restoration
GTRgeoff replied to Godzilla32's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Keep it up Deren The only stock GTR diffs I know that have failed are V-spec actives. -
Well selling the odd former enduro coupe engine to a tool in WA for 80-100K would help........

Scotts Rods in Yamanto (Ipswich). No fuss and good work.

Thanks for that pointless contribution.

Mate, it could be set up like that for a reason. A lot more info is required before anyone can help you at all. What mods, what rwkw numbers, what application (regular street, some track, heavy track, drag), is it a multi plate, ceramic, organic, your expectations and skill level....? Here's a quick example. I've done several hundred thousand km in heavy trucks with ceramic unsprung clutches both highway and cross country. No-one that gets to drive my cars could drive my race car or my GTR with the ceramic clutches, they would stall regularly at lights, in car parks or any low speed stuff, yet I have no problems. On the other hand I despise clutches with a long throw and soft bite. I specced an organic clutch that had a bit more pressure but less aggressive bite for the GTR to take a fair whack of power over stock and now even my wife can drive it.

Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
GTRgeoff replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Kyle, most of us just bang the new restrictor in straight on top of the old one. No-one has had a problem yet mate, so don't try to make it too complicated. -
Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
GTRgeoff replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Kyle. I can answer that. You need to be worried about the amount of oil going into the upper area of the head and not the drainback, so just do the upper restrictors as per the guide. -
My 26/30 just touches at the front with a plastic can gear cover in the GTS25t.

Time for a bigger boat Col. Bugger at losing tackle, but hooray for beer.

It was a great turnout, about 28 all up so thanks for coming everyone. Seats were in short supply. Ben, sorry I didn't come over to say hello. I meant to but was caught up in another conversation. Congrats to the winners of the carwashes. One for a member and one for a non member sourced by Chris (Pear). A great venue as well, well done to the events team for the organisation.

Tsukuba Race Prep (all Finished, Some Vids & Pics ) !
GTRgeoff replied to giant's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I just read that a 30year contract has been signed for Lakeside with a 10 year option. Lots of work to be done but it will be good to see racing there again even if it is controlled noise. Paul, hook us up mate -
Oh and I agree with Col on making sure you are under the limit when passing these piles of poo. They will make mistakes, and it helps to state you were travelling under the limit as you knew they were there in your court case. Anything to raise doubt. Technology in never infallible.

Actually it doesn't Ian. What they suggest may sound good, but until they come up with proper NMA1960 Sec10 compliant certification for the timing mech or measuring component, and use something better than the MD5 algorithm to prove the image hasn't been tampered with which I'm certain they will use then the system doesn't meet basic scrutiny for evidence. Here is an interesting condensation from some recent reading regarding state laws and the NMA compliance.... The Commonwealth Law supersedes the state law in all cases. In 1995 a case was seen where a tool was used to measure Lobster that was undersize and a case for prosecution made. The state law said it was fine but NMA1960 said it wasn't as it hadn't been tested and certified by NATA or CSIRO, the only organisations that can, so the evidence was ruled inadmissible. Sounds like precedent to me. So unless every piece of equipment is certified and in test then any evidence from it is inadmissible. This includes the operator. I'm not for wholesale speeding, just against the money grab by state govts in the name of road safety.

Brake Pads Users Ratings Guide
GTRgeoff replied to Snowman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Just a quick comment if you are thinking Greenstuff, they are worthless for any track days as they disintegrate quickly, and EBC don't recommend them for heavier cars for track days themselves. Also they throw a lot of dust which is annoying. I have them in the V8 Soarer as they were supposed to be low dust, but that was wrong. They are also spongy under the pedal and lack progressive feel. Otherwise there are plenty of good pads, but I'll never buy EBC again. -
Excellent news. Well done PRSC for finally getting something firm happening. Also a massive 2 thumbs up to LMRE for their efforts in bringing this to everyones attention with so much commitment. If I knew who you all were I'd be submitting you for Australia Day awards for services to community, road safety, motorsport and heritage. I'd throw my hat in to help as well but unfortunately I'm a bit broken in the back dept and can't work at all, but I'm with you in spirit. Well done to those who can help too for offering their time. If anyone can remember the history of Lakeside, it was volunteers that made it happen.

Simply wire them into the injector loom from the power supply wire that feeds them. They need to drop the current so the injector diodes in the computer don't fry.
-
I think that unless you feel the need to make the loom for the new computer fit a different car then go with what you have. I'm running a GTS25t PFC computer with an RB26 head, twin turbos through a single Z32 AFM, standard GTR TPS plugs straight into a 33 loom, standard GTR throttles and plenum. I don't use the IAC at all and it idles perfect after startup with or without AC. I'm also using low impedance Delphi 65lb/min injectors using a self made resistor pack that has worked without fault so far. I did have to change the RB25 temp sender into the 26 manifold but not entirely sure if the sender in the 26 setup was faulty or actually different impedance. The only pity is with so much going on I haven't yet had a chance to get it tuned properly, but off boost in second around a corner the rear will step slightly, thanks to 9.0:1 CR. It's off the road as I've deregistered it to trailer to the track so an added obstacle to getting it anywhere atm.

Guys, the best defence will be to just drag it to the courts whenever you get a fine. I know their equipment is not calibrated IAW the National Measurements Act 1960 and all you have to do is prove reasonable doubt and no Court in their right mind could find you guilty. It may cost a few bucks and some time off but it is easy if you get the info from the Aussie speeding fines website. Their equipment might test in perfect conditions in a lab to be as accurate as stated but simple operator errors and false returns will make them wildly inaccurate. I used a LIDAR that measured a speed sign 38m away as being 67m. They are handheld ones that are wildly inaccurate at over 70m due to hand shake and the large beam width which is 1m wide at 100m so it just needs to pick up other returns and a false will read. Imagine our courts if they are filled with low range speeding offenders sending a message? No real crimes could be dealt with.

It's always interesting to hear the comments in the pits, as opposed to the bogan wankers without a clue who attend one big race a year and are experts. Talking to a long term member in GRMs garage and he said Leannes issues while with them were lack of confidence and aggression. A very different team too that doesn't hang off every word of the driver when trying to sort a car.
-
I can. Tourquing up a set of stock GTR rod bolts when one let go 20ftlb short. New set delivered and some were a fair bit longer on the old ones so glad one snapped. So much for all the folks think they are fine to reuse. Dano, I run a 26 head in mine on a 25 PFC. There is plenty can be done to overcome the small issues.
-
I'll drink to that Troy. Nice bunch of guys in that garage.

Isn't there a dvd burner/printer that's affordable? I'm sure I was looking at something like that a few years ago when I had to churn out a few hundred weapons systems user/maintenance manuals.

Tsukuba Race Prep (all Finished, Some Vids & Pics ) !
GTRgeoff replied to giant's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Thanks Russ. So odd to see a car over there that was just weeks ago doing QIR. -
Massive boom soon?? Tell he she missed it by | | that much....... If current prices are to be believed we have just made about $150K in 6 months. It's going crazy babe. Toured a massive 3 title block with a magnificent Qlder today. Just trying to sort finance and a plan before we make an offer. 750K is a bit steep but it's ripe. And $300/hr? Awesome and good luck to her. I thought $200/hr for me was a bit steep.

A quote worth preserving for the ages. Nice one.
