  1. Hell mate, just glad it was useful to someone;) Paint as you may notice is not something I really give a rats about:D Echo's are great. Just hope I don't get one stuck in the front scoop.... Roy loves to give the old *ahem* Echo a punt at Winton.
  2. He certainly knows how to steer and has a fair bit done on that Sti alrady. Last PI outing a couple of Crazy Frank's mates turned up in STi's and I got to let one whup me in a standing start while I farted about wheelspinning. For all that though he was only 2 seconds a lap faster on semi-comps which I'll hide behind as a minor victory. We even helped the other one reset his front left wheel bearing tension so he could continue racing (shoddy scoobie build quality)
  3. That's cos it's a skyline forum. He's a nice enough guy for a rex driver and it does ok times, but the gtr's are whalin his ass now. Back to skylines......
  4. BTW did anyone get a pic of Leewah with his ass welded to my front guard
  5. Just happy mate. Been places, done things and suffered enough to know what's worth enjoying.
  6. This might help but doesn't give an indication of correct tension.
  7. In, both days and accom. Won't be as good without Emre and Drunken
  8. Bump We want to share the joy guys. Hope to see a few.
  9. Also, if you used a new cam belt it could be just a little tight and causes a whining noise that could be similar to what you have. Overtightened they can cause the idler pully bolt to snap causing piston and valvetrain damage.
  10. .....and out to every function and to the pub and I also hear to bed at night.......
  11. Awwww Emre. Just confirming why I'm saving some hard earned for the FC Datalogit. Bugger the hand controller. I want to fiddle properly.
  12. Who knows? I have no hand controller so I don't fiddle....
  13. I'm on 11.6:1 ratios and have no problems yet....
  14. You will be right ric as long as the bearings are the correct size. I have RB26 rods in the RB25. Just gave them to the machine shop and asked for all to be resized to a standard oversize. The gtr rods themselves are just a more robust design but all other key dimensions are the same.
  15. Too busy whoring on SAU. Switch off 'puter and go to car and swing spanner mate. After dark put down spanner (clean up tomorrow) and drink beer and read good car mags while the girlie (whoever it is this week) watches home improvement/reality shows on telly...... He's had it 6 months and still hasn't turned a page. Bet he's scared it will destroy his big brake fetish although he has demonstrated some of this in previous posts.
  16. BTW Mok, ben was doing 1:16 to Snowies 1:24 to my 1:31.....ouch!
  17. Ask Roy, he has my Racecar Engineering text and it has the data.
  18. Not when you have already had 3 practice sessions and want to put it together at the end of the day.
  19. mok, that doesn't deserve a reply. Ben can be found at racepace, and apparently has a policy of not working on rb20's as it's a waste of time or something SK has a good point. I did a half day with Rick Bates in the forest (don't ask what that costs) when I was getting back into rally (rwd datto 1600 of Course and we used that car) and the biggest lesson was braking, not oversteer control etc and lockup was just another technique for fast stopping. Some control is lost so you set the motion before the lockup. I still use a little of this on the track by compression method. I wonder how much it would be to hire kevwrx for a day amongst a group, and just how much faster than us he would be??
  20. I didn't spot roy's in the 2 sessions I stole, although I did compression slide lukey heights a little Cheater tyres, ABS and AWD and you say you're having fun...........................
  21. No the sessions were based on expected lap times and colour coded, so what were they doing going that slow. It was all I could do not to shove through on the corners but we all agree to be polite and give way. I pulled almost the full length of the front straight on the TVR before Dandenong corner on the first lap and that is just criminal as 2 others were in front of me. I told the guy in the TVR if straight line speed was all he wanted, go annoy a drag strip. His excuse was we weren't trying hard enough to pass and weren't close enough so he didn't give way. On top of it all the flaggies let him continue his crap.
  22. One other thing... Driver...Big yep! At PI I was outbraking HQ racers on slicks and that Laser on slicks and a couple of HSV's on track rubber so it must be the driver in that case. put a good one in and I'd be shown up like I should Unfortunately my brakes were going off very fast at Sandown and I went from 150 m at turn 1 to 175 to 200 then 220 to try to stop. I feel the front pads are too low and overdone and the whole shebang needs a service. And Roy, on the road rubber the first flying lap is usually the fastest and then they start to go off. You are right on the braking torque. BTW, I vote all the GTR drivers disable their ABS so they discover what braking control is.
  23. That's more a matter of braking feel. Were you running ABS as that can highlight the difference without any operator limitations? With the smaller swept area and smaller pad/piston/master cylinder you can lock up too easily. Also if the old calipers and master cylinder are a bit in need of a freshen up you will have problems modulating. Finally, brake pads make a world of difference. I'm lucky enough to have a stock R33 GTSt in the driveway for comparisons and the Bendix pads have good initial bite but just suck for real braking. I know mine are in desperate need of a rebuild as they are notchy under increasing pedal pressure now. Here's hoping I can find a decent price for a rebuild kit.
  24. Just to support Roy, the number of pistons and the size of the swept area help to modulate the braking application but won't slow the car any better until after a nuber of applications when the heat comes into effect. The contact patch is still the same and will still lose traction at the same torque. the benefit of that added brake "feel" allows greater subtlety in using all of the available braking force. I'm not surprised Ben is running out of brakes at his pace. No he just has such a massive setup advantage Snowie as well as higher corner speed but you are doing pretty good with your level of experience and setup.
  25. Good times mate. I know the feeling with the crap shocks, mine are stock and the RR is shot so the car is somewhat underdamped. Makes it tricky. I felt I would have done a 1:30.xx had I not had to contend with the tools in the TVR and the BMW M3, who I gave 100m onto the main straight and the wanker held the inside line into turn one. Competely wasted the session. Can't wait for the opportunity to get decent coilovers.
