  1. GTR-80Y, I think they are customisable for the dash, eg non-turbo-leave the boost element out. I may be wrong but I have one of each anyway (auto and manual) so I wasn't too worried.
  2. All I can say is "it depends" Possibly won't be allowed out :whip: :boohoo:
  3. I'll take the EL guages. Would you like to trade for one of my custom fabricated HICAS lock bars? If not I pay cash . I'll be at the club meeting tomorrow night if you are going.
  4. They always scrutineer the bonnet restraint for rear hinged. that is a bit confusing but is specific to forward hinged bonnets.
  5. On a serious note, the standard setup of a GTR is so far ahead of the R33 GTS25t (as original cost would attest) that any advantage in weight is overcome. I'm yet to try my 25t on decent suspension but I have an expectation it will improve the result dramatically. With unmatched std shocks and harder springs it takes a delicate touch. The GTR track is wider as well and influences handling a huge amount. Too much power in the GTS makes it too hard to go fast at PI and as Andrew said, you can maintain commitment in the GTR. For knore, I was running 220rwkw at 15psi and managed 2:03 on road rubber, then dropped to 11psi and went 2:00.6 so getting the power down becomes a problem out of a few critical corners. Sandown is one with tightish corners onto long straights so again the GTR will rule. We can't include Ben's GTR as an example due to the mods (is there a trach GTS with that much done to it? mine will take a while:D)but certainly Scotsman (chris) is a real demonstration of what a pretty stock GTR can do. Take the 5 seconds a lap out for cheater rubber at PI and he is then 3-4 seconds faster than me. The R34 is undoubtedly an improvement again over the 33 in both models seeing the handling of Adz's car compared to mine. We were pretty well on par but I had roll bars. While I never got enough track time to be consistent I have put together individual laps earlier in my racing life to be on par with some of the top five to ten in my races in u2L sports sedans, clubman karts and F Ford (which was an awesome demonstrator for driver ability in equal equipment). mostly though driver ability and commitment are the biggest influencing factors.....and I suck. I'd rather drive it home.
  6. An oil cooler won't help pressure, just oil longevity in extreme use such as track, and adds extra volume. As Megalla said, replace the fuel pump as it can often be traced as a major culprit in many engine failures. Do the filter as well. If you get an aftermarket fuel pump ensure enough power is supplied to it byt fitting a good relay and heavy duty wiring from the battery.
  7. Awesome. Hands up who wants to make me an animated avatar gif?????
  8. NA_R33, that's nasty. It has sheared the shaft completely and it is hard to identify if there is a fatigue crack that started the failure. Good luck with the new one. deadsilly, sounds like they replaced the engine with a secondhand one, correct? Rather than rebuild the broken one? A number of factors have been suggested for reducing oil pressure after running for a while (other than the oil heating and reducing viscosity which is normal anyway). One is the spring in the oil pressure regulator doesn't tolerate the temperature changes (perhaps has been subjected to high temperatures before) and has a reduced transition temperature. I haven't looked into this yet. The oil pump has to be removed to inspect/replace and I have a GTR pump for a little more pressure waiting to go in. The other is the engine is tired and old and due for a rebuild, rings and bearings at least. I would suggest an immediate change to Castrol Formula R 10W60 and see the pressure change. I saw around 6 psi average increase. Mind you though mine also drops pressure after about 15 min to 2.5 bar at idle and 4.5 bar on the track. It is off the scale when cold. Sydneykid and Ben from Racepace Melbourne both use this oil as well.
  9. Some of these tyres can be recut, if you know where to go. Stuckey's might be a start.
  10. Should be the same. Here is a short vid of Lowndes catching some air.... best there be some of that at the next track day.
  11. Thanks to the wonders of PC HDTV I caught the replay of Lowndes trying to do a flying lap during the shootout. Available HEREafter 5:45pm 9/10/04
  12. Simon the boat is going to look sweet. Can't agree on the Jap turbo luxury Mic, but the V8 Soarer is pretty good living for the cost. I'd prefer an AMG though...or even better Brabus
  13. Simon, 30 and looking for a car of that price range. You are doing pretty good mate, and the boat too........ What the hell, get one of each!!!! I am available for technical inspections and road tests. *adopts AMP ad voice over* AMG????????? AMG!!!
  14. Marcus, there is nothing wrong with RB74's as a couple of dedicated race cars have discovered at PI over the last couple of months when I was trying to go under them in the braking zones. Snowie, is that the codemasters game? I got it for PC and found it marginally better than the orig and not worth the money with the mods available for F1C99-02 that are quite realistic and the best of all...GTR, a sim of the Euro GT Racing champs (only a demo but better than anything else in the world right now). With my FF wheel and rumbling seat with double force drivers it is almost as good as the real thing. Good news is there will be track updates available and online racing leagues.
  15. I found at PI that 42F 40R felt good but was maybe too high and with reducing to 38F 36R and dropping boost from 15psi to 11 psi I took 3 seconds out of my lap times. There are 2 critical low speed corner exits onto the straights at Sandown that will cruel your laptimes if you get wheelspin out of them so try to concentrate on them. As always it's easier to take pressure out than put it in. On road tyres I tend to find my first flyer is the fastest, then the tyres have worked too hard and laptimes drop off a little.
  16. i already had the bbq;) better make it one of the 5 nice days of weather then
  17. Yeah there is this guy on ebay selling for a dollar each +$40 for shipping.
  18. Try any of the compliers around. Just ask, they may give it to you or you may have to pay a few bucks. I think Jamezilla got one somewhere recently.
  19. We can rebuild him Roy!!! Looking like I will be staying in Vic a bit longer, while I'm not off travelling on the job. Waiting to hear of confirmation of the actual job. Systems Engineer for a wheeled armoured vehicle fleet hopefully.
  20. Seats, wing, left tail light, injectors if I can get them in and tuned in time with q45afm, cams if the slightly damaged set here are fixable with adjustable gears........ None of that poofy AWD crap though
  21. I'm just adding a couple more GTR bits myself......
  22. Don't be so stupid SK. That's way too easy and simple Actually there shouldn't be any reason it wouldn't. Great to see a quality engine builder standing by his product, and willing to explain the problem.
  23. I've been hit twice by idiots cutting through double lane roundabouts. My insurance company raped them both when I produced a signed diagram from the offender Used to be Brissy was a great place to drive..........
  24. Did you get footage of the flames??????
