I'll bring a spare bag as well. Troy if you need any help later in the day just ring me.

Post Whore!!! Actually as most know, I'm a weapons engineer with defence (uniformed sector) but was previously a wepons acquisitions project manager and armoured vehicle fleet engineer (among many other grubby little things they had me do). Only for a bit longer then I'm bludging in Qld

I'll bring a book for snowy, just 198 pages of the laws of rugby. Does footy have rules, other than no touching??? :D
-
I'm with Roy on the TV issue. Heath, bring it down for test drives but I must warn you the wife is pushing me to get a GTR33 so she may not agree
-
You would think that, but I had to wind on almost full static advance to get any power after i fitted it (unheard of and no detonation!!!!) otherwise it would choke on the excess fuel. PFC fixed it. No idea on the shootout mode question though.
-
Good news what did you put in? I had no end of overfuelling when I put the GTR pump in but the PFC fixed it.

Only no beer in the mornings!!!!

7 PM works for me too. What do we want to bring along provisions-wise. Do we want to eat out mostly or try to do some cooking (other than the Barbie). Bacon and eggs on the barbie in the mornings works for me....pity we'll have to refrain from beer......

I use a plastic coated steel wire rope from an eye on the bonnet to the tow hook on the chassis. My fire ext is mounted just under the front of the right rear passenger seat where the drilling holes cannot be seen if I remove it. Roy, book me for friday night and sat night

Roy had some mechanical/tribological issues when the cams were fitted. I have the head and cams and I'm waiting for an opportunity to determine the root cause of the problem. Until then I'll leave it to Roy to discuss the result but I would suggest at this stage getting any cams intended for install checked by an engine reconditioner before installation. -
Just to respond to a few things: Jay, you don't actually need to remove the computer, just the HICAS at the rear subframe and the globe in the dash which is very bright at night but won't be a problem for you. The other gear is specific to R32 which is hydraulic as opposed to electric. I am uncertain of the effect of removing the computer but would love to her if it is tried. AWDMAT, thanks for posting as that will be helpful to 32 owners. Pred, I still make these as it is simply an exercise in getting the steel. I am fully tooled to fabricate the bars (as well as just being fully a tool ) and have sent quite a few out. Angry, other than the bar, I recommend fitting at a tyre shop unless you are comfortable that the rear may be out of alignment, which will take about 20 min to fit and a wheel alignment so say $60-80 for that including the full alignment. I have built these bars just a little bit longer so that people can fit them and have rear toe in instead of toe out when they drive for an alignment. Don't go any more than 5-10km though. Too much toe out at the rear is really unstable as I discovered with my first bar. It was like snowboarding down the road the way the rear slewed all over the shop. One of my previous customers was hoping to have a "bender" developed to fix the warning light problem. No response yet. The Skylines have a variable power steering and it gets harder at about 80kmh. I don't notice it myself but there has been discussion that when the HICAS is disabled it can get heavy at low speed, but that is at quite low speed and at low rpm. I would expect this is a product of the computer being a little confused, the engine rpm, therefore power steering pump flow, being low, and the wheel alignment. My alignment is permanently aggressive for the track, since I pay bugger all for tyres so it tramlines everywhere. Hope that helps, the only reason I started making the bars was due to the rediculous prices charged and to make them more accessible to the SAU family.

You can remove the return line and put an extension on it so it can reach a bucket or back to the filler. Start the car and observe the fuel returning at idle. Bring the revs up and watch the fuel flow. If it is a weak flow at idle and worse at revs with no load then the pump has issues. Definitely replace the fuel filter first.

Still lobbying for friday night. Since the finance manager thinks she won't come along now she states that leaving early Saturday will be best for me??????
-
Jay as you may be aware, I build the bars myself and have run without HICAS for many months now. The improvement in steering input is noticable, and I have since installed the Whiteline swaybars, huge improvement, and now the pineapples set for traction. The rear used to move noticeably, sort of a "turn..settle and then a slight sideways movement in the rear" that was only obvious after the lock bar was installed. The pineapples removed this response entirely and the swaybars are magic (blade adjustable). The HICAS computer is separate to the ECU so will not affect the car other than to illuminate the dash light, which is easily removed in a half hour by pulling the dash. Hope that answers your question.

What's more sporting than drinking beer and eating Schnitz?????? We can do you a license at the track on Saturday. You just use the slip and the real thing arrives an a couple of weeks. All Kosher. Gotta see the handling improvement. -
Good stuff mate. Still not sure on the one extra but we'll see how the week rolls up. They guy who arranges never gives up a bed bro. Let's hear no more on that. I was going to check out the Army accomodation down there (we have little cottages and places all over the country and cheap. even at Buller and Hotham) but since you have done a great job already I'll just check for next time.

If it was towed by Bens GTR.....BTW is it a Sydney fetish to waste money on brakes?? ROY????? I find mine are pretty good with racebrakes pads and slotted fronts (not DBA, $560 a set of 4 discs), but I do service them a lot and regularly get a few little bubbles. They feel squishy straight away so I know when they need treatment. So who wants to go for a look?

GTRgeoff replied to ferni's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Great to hear mate. We can sort you a license Tuesday evening at the club meeting so get down the Island with us. I just installed the Whiteline Adjustable Anti Roll bars (I know it's a GTSt so different to drive and the front bar has 4 holes each side) and the improvement is huge. Car feels about 2 feet narrower. As for sliding...the right foot controls that now. I put a set of Whiteline pineapples in too, set for traction after 2 days of playing with the bars and there was a definite improvement as well as better traction out of corners. Merli that thing is going to be a killa. Will we see it on a track down here sometime? -
Better that than them getting out of speeding fines (the Cops) with lame excuses.
