Got this response Good Afternoon Geoff Thank you for your enquiry. We are situated in Nunawading, which is an eastern suburb of Melbourne. We do have a small showroom, where our OBX Seat range is on display, which you are more than welcome to have a look at. Our address is 17 Moncrief Road, Nunnawading. So I'll go take a look soon and report on fit for fat guys

NSW Gov't imposing a night curfew for people U21? WTF?
GTRgeoff replied to Guilty's topic in New South Wales
This is based on the NZ concept for U17s which by all accounts works. from 15 you can get a learners there and drive for 2 years getting lessons or with an experienced driver. More opportunity to learn to respect the road and conditions. Why not just do this????? Cos this way they don't have attacks on their revenue raising camera policies and are seen to do something and may actually bring the road toll down a bit. Can't say i agree but the NZ system seems sensible. -
I think they plagarised last years Island Magic form from November *LOL*

I've thrown out a lot of the old FFR and Zoom mags but I'll scratch around later. Have to go buy pineapples for the track day. The oil reports are usually online somewhere.
-
I'm thinking a mounting for quick removal of the race seat and use the stocker everyday, bu the thought of a permanent fixture recliner gives me pleasure . Awaiting a response from these guys in Melb and I will post up a report on the findings.

Good call Amaru. I'm going to be under the car today so will check mine also for the funny vibration I get, but it deems rpm related in mine. Andrew, I'll see you Tuesday at the club meeting or Sat at PI and we can discuss further. A quich drive at PI will allow me to sit in the back as well and see if I can isolate the location.

I thought Roy's head looked in fair condition (the car one......the other has played Rugby like mine) but ultimately it was the large particulate reports that scared me off. I believe the tests were done with a NA car and while that may be fine for a few extra HP, I was not willing to push for that couple of HP with oil when one extra psi would do. It (Mobil1) achieves the extra power by being thinner (0W20) at operating temp, and oil effectiveness is based on the oil viscosity (among a raft of other considerations including high temp stability). I am willing to run extra viscosity and lose power for improved pressure at track temperature. The stuff was literally like water, as is Havoline Synthetic which I am getting rid of tomorrow. The only way Mobil1 can have the large particualtes reported is by metal wear. All oil will show some metal through wear, but less and smaller is critical.

All are free to come spectate and have a picnic and see the Island. PIARC are setting this up as a family event. Roy there is no way I'll be 3 seconds faster. I've raced U2L Sports Sedans there but that was a century ago. I can barely remember the track and have been corrupted by looking at it on TV. Snowie, that clutch is typical button, I'd guess brass or ceramic sintered 3/4 puck from my brief drive. Had fun trying to come back to terms with one, but you can get a sprung one like mine which is very easy to drive but clamps just as well.

There isn't always a reward for doing the right thing. Just feel pleased with yourself that you can do it right while others screw the pooch. -

Down here it's about $100 but you will usually need to be a member of a club ($65ish) and so may need a CAMS license ($83 L2S). Phillip Island next weekend is 2 days at $125 per day with a fair chance of at least 1 hour each day on the track. Just wondering if I'm man enough to take full advantage of it. -
Andrew probably just a minor harmonic with that gear and rpm. Always a bit hard to tell without driving or sitting in the car so I'm just guessing. Did the wheels come off for a balance? You could have thrown a weight while driving but it's unnoticable in 4th due to other vibrations. Can the shaft go in the other way around? I get a strange harmonic that is evident about 5 mins after starting from cold for about another 5 mins. It then dissappears altogether. I'm not driving hard at that stage so i don't worry too much. It was all fully balanced at rebuild.

OK I'm here. Roy's cam followers were lightly indented from the cam, but it had done 170K. noncommittal there I'm afraid. My opinion of Mobil 1....I've seen the oil analysis reports and it always has a worrying quantity of large particulates, therefore I will never use it again. I'm taking the step to Castrol Formula R 10W60 to see how the oil pressure goes on the track. I don't have the means anymore to do oil analysis but I am searching for independent reports. As far as full Synthetics go, as long as you run in with mineral, they are fine. A bad run in is early death - simple. If an oil is black it's due to blowby, not metal particles. IF you can see them they sparkle. I have no opinion of Motul other than to say it is too hard to find and too expensive compared to other good quality oils. I need some redline lightweight too but it's hard to get.

You saying I'm very cool? Yeahhhhhheheheheh -
I think a young inexperienced PI virgin like yourself should take advantage of the experienced hands for at least one session *I'm hiding down here* (runs and hides elsewhere)

Great group effort guys. I think the reason youngsters often won't come to the track is that they believe they have to have the perfect track car first, but then possibly won't because they will be exposed to scrutiny...in their minds. It all comes back to that safe cocoon at school where failure wasn't an issue and they had no threats. I'm impressed by anyone willing to turn up and have a go at the track, within their limits, and even more impressed when someone says "I need some help here to learn the track/skills/expectations". -
I'll be there also. Was I knifed in for something last meeting?
-
Aaaaawwwwww but I still wanna go to Bimbo Deluxe.....................stupid brain making me go to the track.
-
Just keep hassling him.....he cannot hide forever. Lets all hassle Al too. He wants us to blow this off to go to his birthday party instead of coming along for track and drinking fest.

Guys you have the wrong target. Didn't they teach you politics in school. It's not the Federal Liberal (Howard) government doing this but the wanker Labor State governments that make the state laws. Liberal in Vic want to go back to 10% for all camera infringements instead of the 3kmh (that's right 3 k's over and gone) that Bracks has installed. I didn't even vote for Howard when he first came to be PM but he is doing better than any other PM has. Labor Screw the economy every time and then sting us all more taxes...A***holes. -
Sounds good mate, but I gotta get some speed fix going.... Snowie can issue licenses at the track, and it will be lotsa fun for 2 days and (maybe) nights.
-
I'm pretty interested in the cheap (wide) fixed Daytona in black, or the Monaco. Duncan, What is your opinion of the choices I have selected (which are obviously the cheapest) fitting wise? These guys in Melb have them so I will go take a look if possible. http://www.australianauto.com.au/
-
Well Snowie will be pleased to hear that this is the first PI event with all the new safety changes done. Hopefully the next breakage won't be "R34GTR....complete". I am a definite goer Chris so count one goose and one wood duck :quack: . If Nelly comes along I may be staying at the cottage or will need a double room Roy. yet to confirm Friday or Saturday.

Mate, only drinking in public is illegal for under 18's. Responsible introduction to alcohol in the family home is legal.the state govts only have one goal REVENUE -
Additional note: the entry requires a cams license number so contact Snowman and organise a license sooner rather than on the day as they may not accept your entry. They may also accept if you put TBA. A club membersip number is also required.
