Yeah, lived there for 4 years. Lucky I was at Uni or I would have had stuff all to do. Hated living in Sydney. Darwin was nice lotsa beer drinking and Backpacker (grab a Helga). Townsville is alright but small. Melb is just miserable, nuff said. Adelaide shuts at 8 pm weeknights unless you go to Crazy Horse. Perth you always end up with sand in your Latte. My heaven will be in Bris within earshot of Lakeside when they reopen it and staggering distance from a pub (make that uni pub) with a good pool table and 24 hour rugby on a giant plasma tv.

Hey I can get to know someone prepared to dent a filthy renault.

Qld is home of the Bundy Juice. Part of your complete balanced diet.

Nice ride dude. Sorry I'm not in the market. I did a little back in the late 80's and 90's. Bannan was coaching me and I took silver at Nats. Currently on a Giant Team Once but ended up selling off the carbon Campag so I could stay compatible with my mates. Dura Ace is good stuff. Might stage a comeback later this year if I fix the back injury (2 ruptured discs). wonder if the old guy will take some time out to look after me? Guaranteed drug free, unlike the filthy trackies. national team is a bust now, unlike the good old days. bbenny, shred heads sux .....seriously, I could ride around the fat tyre guys all day on the road, but when we went off road I was pathetic. Trying not to get the nicely shaved and tanned legs scratched....

Obviously none of you spent any decent time in Qld. Don't call it gods country just for fun. Now just gotta get Lakeside reopened. BTW Rugby Super 12 NSW Waratahs are still on wood, no matter how much Tuquiri costs.

Sprung a yellow R34 GTT in the lakes tonight. Hopefully a new resident. We gettin' heaps out here now. I do want to catch up with the guy in the Ferrari 360 tho

We have an aussie drift style. It's called doughies in the Ute. I was [un]fortunate???? enough to grow up in the country and my first ride was an XM falcon ute with 3 "on the tree" and 7 1/2 turns lock to lock

If these sooks from sydney are coming we'll have to unleash Ben from Racepace in the GTR (1:16 at sandown. Sub 60 sec at Calder) to make up for my slowness Be good to meet some sydneysiders. I do have a line on a "cottage" at PI but would be requiring well mannered, carefully selected individuals willing to pay about $10 a night.

Mesh it's on the drain plugs so *SLAP* It's a really good idea and won't cause any harm to the engine

Guys stop whoring the thread hey. Zy that sounds reasonable for the job, but I always like to get people to think on the DIY side. All that labour (you are looking at under 2K parts, arias forgies for the RB25 were 1300 overnite and I threw in GTR rods for the hell of it, and more redline) Obviously the turbo work is a hand over and get 'em back good, but a chainblock will cost $150 and an engine stand $300 then get the tools for the job and future tasks for about $500 and you are set for life. TAFE courses in the subject of mechanics and engine building are pretty handy as well. My welding needs some polish so I am back to TAFE for a refresher. That feeling of DIY when you kick her over the first time still gets me and I am a mechanic with a mechanical engineering degree, but it is not hard, you just need to be precise and use checklists. First time rebuild I had no manuals so had to work out the torque settings myself, but the army taught me to be a rapid combat repair mechanic so when I got the manuals i found I was almost spot on, within 5 Nm for the big ends and perfect for the cams etc. Mesh. I reckon I'll get about 320rwkw when the PFC finally goes in and is tuned so the GTR will need that upgrade. I am shopping for a new turbo tho......

It'll only get the ferrous bits, and the hope is that there will be none of that, only soft metals. Anyway I'll be getting some.

Do some research online Zy and get a well recommended dinosaur guy to do it. They get good power from the old stuff and there is nothing new in engine technology. What do you need? Rebore and hone? O Rings? Balance? Full clean out of the block and the crank? Put it all together? Seriously, there is nothing a "Jap" engine builder can do any better or different, and they tend to charge more. All the info you need is on this website for finding the parts etc.

Sounds a bit arbitrary. You would have to be experiencing quite a few G's as well. What is fairly common is loss of oil pressure on slicks with GTR's, so with those tyres of yours you would be running close to the limit, but given the oil cooler should be fairly safe. Road tyres (like mine ) would be fairly safe from what I have found in my searches on the topic. To be honest it shouldn't be too hard to simulate the oil motion in the sump to determine the critical sump level. Might waste some time on that when I'm done on the conrods. What has Ben had to say about it (since you started dropping names)? BTW I have been black flagged due to loss of support from the finance manager, who managed to drop another $1500 on furniture yesterday, so have a good weekend.

Roy's in Melbourne now, so maybe next weekend Shan we can kill 2 birds with one stone.

good old VL commonwhore drivers
GTRgeoff replied to Dahtone Racing's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Was my choice to change it. I didn't think it was acceptable after a few minutes of thought. Anyway, there are a few nice VL's out there, just too many drivers think they are unbeatable, and traffic light drags are for idiots. -

Nothing to say but this -
Should be fine as long as it doesn't slap against the radiator, which is why I went plastic covered cable.

http://geoffwill.ozforces.com.au/AutoSpeed...Road%20Test.pdf if your interested. Just a different model and a good educational read.

Sounds like it's worth a drive. I'm in. Better register.

Just got this from the PRB Site, been getting some good sydney stories from Roy now he is down here. Mmmmm Focus engine, but the 20V is nice too. This has got my interest for a new buildup since I am selling a house in Melb soon and want to tinker in Bris when I get there. Would be a great project with the girly involved. Now available with 79/00 emissions compliant Toyota 4AGE-20 valve or Ford Focus engines. [/color]

Looks as though the South African brand may have got it legalised. Didn't the wall bit on my video, was there another lap not freely distributed? Was carsick tho from the camera being sideways

Somerton track just north of truck city on the east (Inbound) side. They have J class and S class hire karts that are good fun and faster than anything else for hire in Melb. Kev is usually there with his own kart as they allow private users on. No idea of time. I'll PM Kev to see.

4-5mm stainless with nylon clear coating. From my specialist vehicle recovery days I estimate a breaking strain of 4000 kg, but it is nothing like the 35mm I used on Tanks . Try Bunnings for the stainless clamps etc. In dandenong tomorrow but here all day today due to missing turbo bargain .
-
Rotax is the answer, what was the question? The class is not completely chockers yet. I looked into getting back into karts but a meet would run from 0700 to 1900 and you spent all day just waiting. Try some quick ones at Somerton. If not raining I may be there tonight to catch up with kevwrx from the skidpan sessions. Look at the DPE site as well http://www.dpeng.com.au/Arrow_Karts.html If you want really fast go 250cc superkarts that race on the big tracks like PI and Winton
