  1. That was the V8....got one and it's true
  2. Racebrakes for the pads (www.racebrakes.com.au) and try lalor brake and clutch for BDA (not dba) discs (slotted front and plain vented rear then bleed your system and replace with Motul DOT 4.1. This is my combo on the track and is simply stunning improvement over the standard setup
  3. cazz I'm not that cut up and look forward to seeing you at the next club meeting. We'll talk there without the gallery. Funky chill out....I would appreciate the opportunity to resolve anything outstanding with Carolyn so we have no hard feelings. I hope that doesn't make you feel too uncomfortable, but I will continue this offline. From my perspective, feel free to lock this thread.
  4. cazz, I just came across this thread and I am having some trouble with assimilating the problem you seem to have created. I was the next person at the table that you spoke to, mostly to complain about this forum, but I have no problem with that and didn't take the chance to discuss it further in another venue, out of school being the operative term. What I will take issue with is you putting words into my mouth. I did say there was one 31, meaning at the table (ash). If there was a comment regarding keeping up, it wasn't mine, and as snowman stated, it was I believe ash being tongue in cheek. Now in the specific context of your attitude toward the SAU forum, I appreciate the guys who were not present being on the back foot and apologetic, however I would challenge you to take a longer look at the content of the forum and the membership and the vehicles that are owned. I will then demand you recuse yourself from the allegation that these people are elitist, and post it publicly in the Vic forum. I will state clearly that I am offended by your attitude (and not on behalf of anyone else) and the patently innappropriate manner in which you have misrepresented the evening. I will not hide behind any form of political correctness that infers that the one complaining is right. You have no right to complain without stating the entire events and conversations and allowing everyone a chance to judge matters themselves. To then go on and take the elitist attitude that everyone should be into your thing and drop everything to talk to you is even more offensive. By now I would hope you have taken an opportunity to take a look at my profile, and it is a very limited indicator of my professional credentials. I am involved in a very serious business and have to take opportunity to have a lighter side. I will suggest the juvenile attitude here though is not that of the SAU people there to discuss affilliation, with whom I was merely an online acquaintance and fellow skidpanner. Pity's sake, whining about no-one buying your ford, on a skyline forum...I'll rest that one there, but it tends to shut down a conversation pretty quickly, that and other matters I was interested in discussing elsewhare prevented any further conversation we may have had at the time. I have been a member of NDSOC longer than I have been active on here in SAU, and the people in both are much like everywhere else, just people, good and bad. I have spent time with a number of members at events and I like the club (NDSOC) and what it means to me....racing with like minded people with a common interest, but you won't find me at too many concourse events. I have a long history in motoring and motorsport, and while I can appreciate your own efforts with your cars, not everyone will appreciate the older marques(I do). I can only hope you reciprocate and appreciate what I have and do with my cars, or are you too upset with the popularity of the imports perhaps taking away some of the limelight? You see it can always go both ways, can't it. On another point, the technology is in the newer models and by some strange quirk, online forums are considered a bit of a technology thing, but it hasn't excluded the older models at all, only the people who own them and aren't into our thing. I did volunteer for the Shannons stand, and spent a lot of time admiring and talking with owners of the fantastic vehicles on display, and didn't get back for the motorsport events, more is the pity, but my day was well spent. Only good can come of an affilliation between SAU and NDSOC, and I hope you haven't spoiled any of that by misrepresenting our club, NDSOC, to the volunteers trying to organize a great relationship between SAU and NDSOC. I certainly didn't get any negative feedback from the club pres or her better half at the GP. I will look forward to making some time for a longer conversation at the next meeting or event, so be looking for me, but I think you were a little hasty in your comments, without knowing something about me or the SAU Vic organizers, and that deserves an apology at least. Once we have had a chance to talk more, then I think you can give me the shellacking I probably deserve. Geoff
  5. Then again when you can get gtr stuff and poke it straight into the 25 it adds a different aspect to the equation. Yes I realise you are talking stock but the rod upgrade is cheap and easy. If anything, my only detraction from the 25 is the ease with which you can overboost the engine and the resulting detonation kills the pistons. End of the day, horses for courses...and this is a skyline forum so bugger off with yer toyo crap (yes my soarer alternator died today so I'm off toyo)
  6. I did my stock 33 wheels and it took 4 days of constant work due to the damage done coming off the boat. The only better result on stock wheels I've seen tho was a full chrome job. A pro shop will do it quicker but still take a substantial time so the cost is worth it if you can't do it yourself. Needs regular maintenance too or it starts to look crap.
  7. No pics, runs from the base of the A pillar to the top of the A pillar. Never installed, just smoothed the holes for the guages to seat nicely.
  8. Not yet, still got a few things to finish off like pfc and tuning after run in. Plus finalising a few compatibility treasures I discovered.
  9. It's the standard unit but I can build you a lock bar for the same price out of steel. And yes I'll still donate 10% to SAU.
  10. After the rebuild I have a few items available to the needy. 10% of sales to SAU. Offers considered. Added some low res pc cam pics (I know, I'm cheap). Postage extra or as negotiated. Added HICAS lock bar to offer - $100 plus delivery and $10 donated to SAU Conrods x 6 - linished and polished sides, #3 (therefore all 6) need resize due to bearing run, this doesn't cost much at the machine shop - $100 Pistons stock 0.5mm OS x4 good cond 20K the other 2 are cracked - $50 Fuel pump stock GTS25t (replaced with GTR item) - $100 Nismo Steering Wheel - Nismo horn button Good Cond 3 spoke no centre pad bolts straight up to R33 GTSt - $100 SOLD Greddy style fibreglass twin A pillar mount - 65mm black in colour, not used due to loss of vision on the racetrack, would be OK for road but doesn't suit me for race, fits over standard a pillar trim without needing to damage std trim- $120 SOLD Hicas rear steering unit - $100 SOLD. I don't need it anymore:D I can also fabricate the Hicas Lock bar to get rid of rear steering, same price. Stock Intercooler - $50 no hose fittings Auto trans shifter surround Corbon Fibre finish - $30. Originally wasn't in great condition so I layed up carbon fibre over the base. Doesn't look as good as the pics, hence the low price. Help me clean out the garage and help this great forum that has provided for me so well As you can see I now have a digicam...but got it cheap:D
  11. Thats a nice looking cooler, just like my Hybrid and the improvement on a 33 GTSt temps is awesome. 26 deg day and the intake temps on a boost run went from +33 deg putting about DOWN to 26.8 on stock boost when I legged it.
  12. gimmmeee gimmmeee I'm in.
  13. If it is a little bumpy, you will find that there will be a tendency toward 'sudden' traction loss on hard cornering due to the reduced sidewall flex. This is why I went from 235 30 ZR17 to 255 40 ZR17 for daily driving
  14. I just hope you stripped it down to nothing and gave them $5900 worth of car, or they compensate you for the improvements.
  15. How did the Zeds go in the last few Targa's????? (runs and ducks for cover) Sounds like some good fun tho....wish i was there to watch but I have plenty of Zeds to play with in the MSCA sprint series down here.
  16. Had both of my 33's badged on sat nite in my driveway. At least they didn't take the impul centres but I am fuming. Wonderig if it isn't the c**ksucking loser down the street who just has to do burnouts past my place in his 32 all the time. Nice car...f**kwit driver. Anyway I'll have my eye on him and his mates. What the hell do they get from taking badges anyway? I couldn't be arsed replacing them until i maybe get around to selling, but that is a long way off.
  17. Roy can't offer a place to stay atm but if you want to catch up for a drink and a rugby game I'm keen. Maybe next weekend. 0408124767
  18. SK, thanks. I may start to tweak the rpm limit when I go for tuning. Steve-SST, how long did it run at that rpm limit and when you say he drove it fairly hard, including track effort? Roy, I was an AutoCad guy, but now have Solidworks 3D design tool and Cosmosworks for the FEA and am sold completely. $30K for the lot with a good notebook to run it all. Gives a full 3D rendered avi of the deformation. Solid, shells, thinwalled members, heat, animation of multiple objects with constraints, interference, design optimization. Just no computational fluid dynamics. Would have been handy when I had to wind tunnel test an armoured vehicle which cost 200K. Coulda CFD'd instead.
  19. Thanks mate, but I did have 4 years in the import industry with my own company, while I was studying engineering at uni (mature age). Gave it the flick when I saw the LVIS breaking down and tax wrote off the stock which I kept for daily drivers. Just not ethical to advertise a price until somebody shoots the fat lady IMO
  20. SK, once again, just gold. I have to admit I am looking to have a few rpm up the sleeve since changing ratios is a bit of a drama. Just to add to track flexibility, but without knowing any better I would be foolish to overdo it. I was well known for valve bouncing the good old 18RG in the toyota rally car, fortunately without catastrophe. I'd call 8500 sufficient. Damn this thing is smooth now. Might have to plagarise smoothline's quote. Do the 25's have a problem with 'pumping up' the lash adjusters/lifters like the scoobs with more power and rpm? Stated that the valves were failing to close fully by a poofteenth. It was considered mandatory to go to solid lifters a'la RB26 if pushing over some magical power figure. Obviously not since you consider the standard items good for 8500.
  21. A great example.....and definitely worth the money without having looked closer at the car, but for 10K you can build a stronger than N1 engine and turbo upgrade with some careful thought and not paying for labour. But with that setup how hard has the rest been flogged? There is something inherently wrong with advertising a price pre-auction too.
  22. Ring lands are a real problem in 25t's stock, but like everyone else I was chasing too much power on a stock setup and intercooler. I have to say the engine is a smooth as silk now and has great power on stock boost with the new Hybrid 800hp FMIC. I put the temp probe back in after the cooler and it was static 34 deg then during a couple of power runs Dropped to 28... the ambient temp with no water spray on the cooler. I am really impressed. Has anyone got any thoughts on the crank limit of the RB25, as well as the head for max rpm?
  23. From my point of view on the subject, a well modded 89 would be a bargain at that price of about 15K even if the engine is tired. I don't see how the cost of a GTR engine build is going to be greater than a 25t for example and they appear to be stronger overall initially. Where the cost will be is in paying some overpriced tuner to rebuild the donk, but the internal parts are about the same for bearings, seals and forged pistons as a 25t. Personally I prefer V8 engine shops as they are not about a cool sticker but getting value to their dinosaur owning customers...and there is no doubt they know their stuff. An engine is an engine is an engine....and performance requires certain things to be just so. I can only say that I will be flogging off the soarer and looking hard at an 89 GTR32, but I do my own work so tired engines and other gear is no biggie for me. Get as many of these in the country as possible while we can....a car is NOT an investment so screw the values.
  24. Thats a good question. Depends if the turbine was replaced with steel. It certainly doesn't respond like a stocker, more lag until 4K then the switch goes, but I hope to tune that out. If it is a steel turbine I would guess it's not ball bearing. Also produces power differently...more power at 11psi than a stocker at 15psi so it isn't as restrictive in the exhaust. I could replace it and be more certain, or I could drive it until it's dead or I'm surprised. Just not sure yet. I did the hicas replacement bracket today and got the alignment, including the caster, and it is on rails now with some fresh front (30% used) rubber.
