  1. I know. I think of the close calls I had rallying at that age, coulda written off a few cars. Huge dropoffs and trees, but I kept going because it was racing. Hate to think of this happening on the public roads. I used to own a coupla bicycle shops and we always kept the helmets from the pro racers we sponsored who had totalled it to convince young mums to buy a helmet for the kids when they thought it was unecessary expense. In the army bases we used to put a coupla wrecks at the exit gate before leave started to slow the guys down..... I just hope Denis and the other young guys start to do this in the right places. On the track so they can learn from mistakes without major consequence. The tracks are set up for offs. The roads are scary because of the hard things and gutters that are so unforgiving. Accidents do happen though.
  2. Hell this is bad. Even as experienced as I am I still won't buy a GTR coz if I want a little fun it has to be at way too fast. I'm a huge advocate for driver training and education, but the most important thing is you are OK and no-one else was injured. The car can be replaced, but not by a gemi......NOOOOOoooooo Hope it all starts to look good for you mate. It eventually will.
  3. Yeah, Rezz just goes around collecting race queens.....BASTARD!!!! I so wanted to move to Japan for a while when I was importing. Had trouble with the language. Who woulda thought after 4 programming languages
  4. Good man....if a race queen wants you then you won't have to drop your pants. Jesus, they were making HER diet. Looks pretty good there in your pic. Any thinner tho and it would be cause for concern.
  5. Just make sure the cutouts have been sealed otherwise it will absorb water which can cause delaminations and softening. It also reduces the glass transition temp and even worse, if there is enough water absorbed and you leave it parked out on a frosty morning or at the mountains the water can freeze and puff out the layers. Ever seen chipboard get wet at the edges?
  6. Having some experience with button clutches (unspring) and a wife who wants to drive the car I went with a sprung centre 5 puck brass clutch from Just Jap. It's a bit grabby when reversing and doing gentle stuff but at least you can ride it a little as opposed to a button. Check prices on JJ
  7. As your tagline says....you are so not japanese.....very Ocker mate.
  8. Excellent, smithers......I was told this pump had delivered to the tune of 314 rwkw....release the hounds.
  9. check the wiring going into the computer. There is one that is i think green with a yellow stripe and mine has a wire spliced in there and definitely no speed cut, so I suspect a computer is installed. From meggala's site i believe this was the speed wire.
  10. I fitted a gtr pump yesterday, although I suspect it's from an R32 and other than minor differences on the base it was a good fit. Still used a hose clamp to ensure it wouldn't move though. The big black retainer on the top of the tank screws off with a rh thread and then you have to pull out the pump which slots into a bracket on the front wall of the fuel tank. Swap the fittings such as fuel filter/pickup over and install in the same position, just remember where the filter faces as it goes well forward into the bottom of the tank. Watch the boot access hole tho as it can be sharp and I got a few minor cuts, particularly when I was unscrewing the retainer
  11. Don't know the PN but I put a GTR pump in my 33 25t yesterday and other than an external diaphragm on the gtr and some minor things there was little difference, but the flow is a lot more.
  12. Who woulda thought Bracks would be worse news????? Bring back bloody Jeff. Typically Labour govts spend and spend on welfare and crap and cutting defence and screwing small business and then the voters bring back libs who have to tough out the savings and getting a budget surplus. I'm off back to Qld ASAP. Beattie can't last forever and if it's a choice of Labour govt I'll take my chances there
  13. Anyone......please?
  14. Could be the spark plug gap. Use copper 7 heat range plugs and gap to 0.8mm and see what happens. It works on both my r33's.
  15. I checked the DOTARS site today and they had posted that V35 skylines in 250GT and 300GT were eligible. Don't know if the actual SUTI has been completed yet(or whatever they call it nowadays)
  16. My wifes auto R33 gets a whistle from down near the computer when i am at a certain load/rpm/throttle position. My Soarer V8 lost all power to the dash and wouldn't start. I found an aftermarket box under the dash called a Starbo. An automatic engine starter thing it was having a little moment and I couldn't fix it, even when i pulled it out and all it's attached crap so I had to trial and error until I found the part that made it go again, without the Starbo piece of junk. My track car makes my back push really hard into the seat and can sometimes make lots of smoke from the rear tyres and even makes turbo porsche drivers really unhappy....then it made this funny noise from the engine.....
  17. I'm after a set of standard GTR conrods to complete my parts list before getting the engine to the workshop. Will consider improved standard for the right price. PM me with offers please.
  18. So are all the others I see on the roads SUTI's?
  19. One of many to crack, but they do not have to operate at a profit, only receive funds for a service or goods of value, and this is essentially a service which you can pay for through commercial outlets in most states, therefore they are subject to the TPA. Nice litmus test huh? I'll check out adr 37 with some legals when they return to work. Duty of care is also no defence if they are choosing to ignore the findings of a duly recognised and qualified professional such as vehicle engineers. From what you say, only the minister, and not his representatives may choose not to recognise an engineering judgement. They can Run....But they'll die Tired!!!! (just a quote from one of our weapons suppliers )
  20. OK ....naughty me...sorry PranK
  21. You can buya a battery with a sealed area on top over the cells that has a hose that runs down the left side (looking from the rear) outside of the boot through a hole in the battery mount. This is legal and is as per the OEM configuration.
  22. got off my butt and did a search. TRADE PRACTICES ACT 1974 - SECT 52 Misleading or deceptive conduct (1) A corporation shall not, in trade or commerce, engage in conduct that is misleading or deceptive or is likely to mislead or deceive. (2) Nothing in the succeeding provisions of this Division shall be taken as limiting by implication the generality of subsection (1). Note: For rules relating to representations as to the country of origin of goods, see Division 1AA (sections 65AA to 65AN). This is federal law and applies to all govt depts conducting trade, receiving money for services etc hence the ACCC greyness
  23. Steve I am only relying on our legal training provided by a major legal firm that works for defence, who also cited examples where TPA was used against state and commonwealth entities under, i think, section 52, misleading customers. I'll check my references tomorrow. I have also run the clause from SA law by a few other guys and they are shocked that that law still remains. Need my lawyer friends back at work.
  24. I hear you on every one of these issues, and when they get edgy, you know you have an issue to nail. Glad I don't have to live there. "Road Traffic Act, 1961, Part 4A - Central Inspection Authority, para 163K: No person who does any act in pursuance or purported pursuance of this Part, or omits to exercise any power conferred under this Part, is under any civil or criminal liability in respect of that act or omission if the person acted, or omitted to act, in good faith and with reasonable care." Yep so you make sure they have evidence under their noses to show they are not acting in good faith. That is no protection against corruption, negligence, and plain old pigheadedness. I believe this is actually a law that when challenged will be found to be unconstitutional with respect to modern attitudes and is no defence for actual inappropriate behaviour and rulings. If they had their inspectors appearing regularly in court to answer charges, attitudes would change. I'm not saying it will be easy or painless either. I had a hand in the long slow process of changing some of our weapon handling procedures (I was a recruit instructor and weapons coach), but people still died as a result of incorrect weapons drills and that grinds pretty bad but the changes are made now. I'll be the first to offer $20 to the legal fund if you want to start one. It will have knock on effects to other states as well. I have been following your posts in other threads and hope your lawyers can do something.
  25. I agree but the accountants are pushing the direction and an alloy engine is easier to make emissions friendly. The GM is all alloy isn't it? (major components).Note Ford are not attempting to export to the states yet, especially the 6's. I want round tail lights too, not stealth round ones.
