Yet Another "i Got Fined And Want To Get Out Of It" Thread
GTRgeoff replied to AzzurrA's topic in Queensland
Sounds a legitimate gripe to me, no-one likes to be unfairly accused. A number of things you can do but first go here http://www.roadsense.com.au/ and look at harrys site and maybe get his book. You will need to know the type of device they used. If you admit you were speeding at all then you will likely have no defence, but you can have the speedo calibration checked to see if there is error, then there is the issue of tyre size and inflation pressure which can give a further 6-10% error. Then you can fight on the inherent innacuracies of the equipment. Believe me they are there. I've spent a number of years as a weapons systems engineer dealing with radar and laser systems and they are not always perfect in the real world. Feel free to contact me for more info. If this goes to court I will be in Brisbane by the time it goes so should be able to offer further assistance. Good luck. -
That's very nice Will. I must come and have a look when I get home to Brisbane. I'm hoping to score wheels, bodykit and maybe some exhaust and other trick bits when it comes. Of course it's just for the wife since she can't really drive the GTR.

All the best to mum and baby. That's a healthy sized bub. Well done mate.

You do lose VCT. The stock GTR cams give really doughy power delivery under 5K but over they go like a cut cat. Ivan Tighe Engineering in Brisbane can regrind the GTR cams for about $300 to give a little extra lift and profile to work with the hydraulic lifter, but you lose VCT so Poncams always seem to be the preferred choice.

Sounds like the selector is buggered, but I need some more info as it could be the clutch not disengaging.

That's a great piece of advice. I'm always looking for ways to add chilli after I finish cooking so Nelly doesn't have to eat it. Unfortunately though I lose my tolerance after a while and have to rebuild again. The sacrafices of marriage I really get Shi**y with maccas ads about how hot their sauce is. What a pack of tamperers! So hot even Ferni could eat it

Fast shows no difference between GTR and GTSt oil pump. Price is about right though.

I use a piece of flat ally strap, drill new holes and use the wider mount in the mounting base. 440CCA is the largest I've found to fit. I have found a flat top sealed battery is best so the strap goes straight on the top.

I'm about to list some R34 turbos. Stock and bare (so without fittings or actuators) $800 plus postage.

You could get some people together yourself, but our comittee runs numerous events so can't really be expected to be doing local stuff too. They already do an outstanding job of events. Northside we occassionally have a breakfast at a nice cafe near my place, but that isn't even every month.

clearly you have never been to Thailand. Those Burkes Backside chillis don't count. Like anywhere their chillis are all different depending on what you want. Just cos they sell nancy girl chillis here as "Thai" doesn't make all Thai chillis weak. In Hawaii they don't even have Hawaiian burgers with ham and pineapple. Anyhoo hope you enjoy the recipes. I'm about to make spring rolls......

Miserable one day...shithouse the next will soon be replaced permanently with Beautiful one day - Perfect the next sif the worlds most liveable city Melbourne is a hole.

Forgot to mention, Maggi is a thai cooking sauce by Maggi but I haven't found it here. try a mix of terriyaki and soy. Thai sweet basil is not like italian sweet basil so look around for the right stuff.

Wasabi is just puke like most Japanese food. Ive been a survival instructor and lived off the land and some of the stuff is just godawful looking like tree worm but still tastes better than Japanese. Also if you can't handle chillis in the food way, just get the birdseye chiilis (small but very hot) and just swallow it whole with water like a tablet. Wait 20 min and feel the rush as you start to digest. I had a big bag and had one every day. Even Nelly was taking them like that. All recipes from Siam Kitchen, Lamai Beach, Koh Samui. Highly recommended for a morning of learning and cooking, then eating. Enjoy. I hope you all appreciate what I had to endure to bring these to you. Spring Roll Hot and Sour Soup Green Papaya Thai Salad Green Curry feel free to use commercial Green curry paste instead of making your own Cooking perfect rice

It is an addiction, you get an endorphin hit from the chilli. Try living in Thailand for a month at a time and you start to experiment with all the different chilli tastes, as well as always having a tallie of Thai brewed Heinekin at your elbow. I make a fantastic Green curry and Thai spring roll (I did the classes of course) but unfortunately my wife is not keen on the extra spicy stuff so I generally keep things to her tastes. I'll mail through the recipes, or maybe just post them on here.

Urethane Injection
GTRgeoff replied to Hungryhippo's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sorry Duncan, never answered. I've never done it and find the concept difficult to explain in the lack of structural improvement it will offer other than crush resistance. A cage and seam welding/added stiffening is the only solution. The only ways to measure a real difference are to use a calibrated floor and point measure device or a chassis dyno. In a sloppy car it may help, but there are other more realistic ways of dealing with sloppiness. -
So the ignitor was just flapping around loose? A fully floating ignition system I keep mine tied down on the 25t with a small bolt into the cam cover. I only run the cover off on it to save time with plug maintenance for track days but on the GTR there is no point as the cover comes off in seconds with a 24V cordless drill and allen key, the coil packs are designed to run at the temps involved but nothing will save them when they start to reach thir useful life.

Front Calliper Extension Brackets
GTRgeoff replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Roy got his from UAS I understand. Nothing can help a 32 GTR -
Roy had a heater hose close to the turbo dump perish and then popped at the track onto the turbo. Ethylene glycol, the fluid in most radiator additives flashes at 120 deg C so after the water steams off it burns with a thick black smoke. You should have a shield.

The New Soft Brake Pedal Thread.
GTRgeoff replied to Abo Bob's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
OK some reasons you will get a soft pedal feel, either initial or overall: Brake lines - these need to be replaced occasionally if using the rubber, especially if you race as the rubber breaks down faster under the heat stress. They also won't give the same resistance to expansion as a quality braided teflon line. Bleeding - self explanatory, but if some air gets in they need bleeding, also brake fluid is easily contaminated with water with age and rubber lines. Seals - either the master or calipers will eventually have a seal failure due to pitting in the bore or breakdown of the seal due to wear or particulate tearing. Firewall flex - I've had a firewall in a Falcon crack severely around the master mount so rivetted a 3mm piece of stainless in (thought of that Duncan ) to support it. A stopper works well also. This can also happen to a clutch master if you go for a stupidly hard clutch. Pad knockoff - as the wheel turns any misalignment of the disc mounting surfaces wil cause runout or wobbling off the plane of the disc. These mating surfaces should always be kept immaculately clean so there is minimal knockoff, which is the fluttering knocking the pad away and forcing the fluid back into the lines so the first application of the pedal is initially soft which may leave you without enough pedal for a big stop when racing. This is why race drivers use the left foot to check for pedal while still flat on the throttle and coming up to a tun at the end of a long straight. So the diagnosis usually relies on when the softness occurs. If just sitting for a while and you press the pedal and have softness then on the next press it is hard then you need to see to seals. If the car is approaching 6-7 years old it may be time for all seals to be done if pedal feel is important. If after a long straight on the track it feels soft initially but through areas of multiple corners it stays hard then look at pad knockoff. If all is clean then sometimes on car machining can help. Bleed regularly, use good fluid and inspect often. It's no good having performance without the stoppers -
I understand the 350GT CVT8 is the fastest engine transmission combination in the range.

N1 Oil Pump Killed My Engine .....
GTRgeoff replied to campbell's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Time some of you guys that have lunched engines and pumps to post in my thread in my sig, but I'm going to be linking directly to this thread out of there anyway and adding to the review. My first thought on seeing the first post was hard cut rev limiter launches and then possibly the pump drive configuration, but on a $10K engine that would be hard to believe. Can the oil drive config be confirmed as short or long? As with anything the failure can be diagnosed fairly easily if you know what to look for, so time for pictures as well so some of us can comment on design flaw/manufature flaw/destruction due to usage. There has also been a thread where a Kiwi did straight up testing of the N1 vs stock and the N1 has larger flow capacity due to larger gear spaces so could laed to fatigue failure (from thinner material in some areas), harder material in the pump gears as well as the higher pressure relief valve. -
Nicely done mate. What's a 5 lapper worth?

Does everyone pretend they are starring in Waynes World when that comes on in the car???

Daryl, sounds like a good club to be part of. Expect me to visit once I get home to Brisbane. Unfortunately we have degenerated into a risk averse society, fueled by the bleeding hearts that claim every life is precious (they aren't, well not absolutely, everyone owes a death but thank god there are some "reasonable" protections) and supported by the self licking ice cream called the safety industry. The hipocrisy, lack of intelligence in councils and government, warped thinking that zero tolerance laws and total rejection of the expectations of the automotive community all send a clear message that we who want to enjoy our cars have no rights to do so. Unfortunately joe and jane average can't think for themselves so accept that Police and politicians actually do speak with some intellect, when all they do is follow policy and further damage our case IOT keep their jobs. I can only applaud you on your approach. Roadcraft may or may not have a future strategy firmed up as yet, so by acting now you may be in a position to entirely shut them out of the market, rewarding their ignorance with a premature retirements of their board. I would expect that such a venture would run on a business model to ensure that a corporation is the holder of the property development, therefore protecting yourself and others financially. Go see a small business advisor (just as a backstop to the local business support) on the approach to take. They may be useful, but then I may be years behind your planning and telling you things you already know. It may be that the direction you have taken is the one we (as automotive communities) need to follow if the governments continue to treat us with discrimination.
