I am certain many don't want the hassle of being defected. I don't see a need to change for a number of reasons: I'm an Engineer and expect to be conducting vehicle modification inspections after I move to Brisbane so it helps to stay clean, keeping the standard box is an easy way to keep the heat off and protect your engine and turbo as it is easily modified to flow more air and look factory, not all filters are equal and some like HKS are just junk. Wanna buy some?? To what are you referring as wasting money? Pods, it depends on your ultimate power goals so they are probably the most available solution for tose people. If you only want about 270rwkw then a panel will handle it.

You don't want much. You'll need to pay at least $700 retail for a decent handy gas/gasless. Gasless welds are crap so get the gas bottle. It will do ally and stainless but you need pure Argon for them and Argoshield blend for mild and other steels.

New Forged Rb25/30 Setup
GTRgeoff replied to wsln33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
He's in Melbourne East Matt. Certainly sounds interesting but you are not allowed to have it. Let me know if you get it though. May be interested in your setup and can offer to do the swap. -
Awesome....pity he didn't get a bid. We'd be sure to get enough for a couple of cartons for Snowy. Can we sell Ash? For real?

Rb26 Head Internals Into Rb25 Head
GTRgeoff replied to turbo87's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Or just source a NEO engine or head............ Seriously, by the time a lot of these mods are completed an RB26 swap would be cheaper. -
We'll take anyone....clearly. Welcome.

The wire loop is the one that is innacurate. Get another lead and check your connections including power and earth.
-
All the best Shiv. Hope the car gets sorted soon. Wish I was up to doing the job for you but can't even fix Red at the moment.
-
I'm with Dave, you can get a poor signal from the loop unless using an expensive timing light. The lead on number one is fool proof.

These are back on the market again. I made the error of taking some info at face value that they would fit R34GTt without actually testing it. They will but the car just sits way too low at the front and that is just not good enough. charlieR34 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...p?showuser=6513 is the guy that has them and has offered to let anyone interested to contact him directly, or contact me and I'll pass on the details to him. $650 payable direct to Charlie. If he can't move them soon I'll refund him and get them back here.

Rb25 With Rb26 Manifold And Turbo's?
GTRgeoff replied to bustafat's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Exactly. I did this (and I don't mind you using my name Ash) but it still cost about $3K with doing most of the work myself so just stick to RB25 or put in a 26. -
Yes you can, there are good mounts under the rear. Custom is anywhere from 250 and up. I would limit it to about 1300kg with overide brakes on a tralier. Sydneykid has a Stagea he tows the GTR racecar behind.

Well done Aaron. I normall go to Northwest, but they were taking a new delivery yesterday so I couldn't get in. I went to Newlands tyres and got great prices for the 17's so give both a shot, but it seems Newlands are cheaper. Hope that helps, pity about RDA but maybe thay or Racebrakes can do custom hats and replacement discs for the price of original BMW.

In the aftermath of dodgy skylinesteve a few of us got ripped off. In my case he had a complete GTR plenum he said he would polish for me as well as a front GTR style bar for my track car that I never saw again. SelectMaz also got caught up as Steve claimed to have a relationship there. To set the record straight he was a customer, not an employee or partner or whatever else he may have claimed. The dyno day there was organised by Steve, but Issy was trying to get some exposure to the import and Skyline scene. I guess all he got was a bad relationship and he didn't deserve that and this is why. I have remained a believer in SelectMaz and Issy and all the crew. Always a few minutes to chat when I drop in, and they were polite enough to listen if I talked Skylines. Today when I dropped in for the first time after surgery I was told they had a surprise for me. Wayne then produced my plenum from upstairs. Another customer had bought it off Steve and Drew recalled that Steve had not returned mine so putting it all together realised it was most likely mine. It has a distinguishing modification that I described to them. Issy then paid the other customer what he paid Steve after explaining it was stolen property, and to top it off won't accept payment from me thinking I've contributed at least that much to the relationship. Issy, you probably won't ever read this but just know mate that you are one of the good guys and I honestly appreciate your generosity and thoughtfulness. I also enjoy the friendly hellos and conversation I get from the people in the shop. You can't put a dollar figure on that, and shouldn't. There are too few people around that will make that effort. I like to believe I'd be like that if the circumstance arose, and that the people in SAU Vic would too as would a number of regulars on here. I may bag Victoria a bit but there are some damn fine people down here. Issy is a true gentleman and I'd like to think a good mate too. I'd also like to point out that while Issy didn't get a great exposure out of the dydno day for SAU a few years back he hasn't given up on Skylines, and currently has a selection of about 4 R32 GTR's available at very reasonable prices. One has a freshly rebuilt engine (I saw it going together and it has all the right thins done to ensure longevity) that will sell for around $24K so if you are looking I can't recommend them enough. Take my name in vain if you want but give them a look for any work or buying you may be interested in. They are sensational on Mazdas and rotaries and that will also reflect on any other cars you can take them as they really care about their products and service reputation. In fact I took notice today when another customer was asking about an engine, Issy assured that they would compression test what they had before offering him one. Sure it's to protect the reputation but that is why he's still in the business after so many years with plenty of return customers. Thanks again. http://www.selectmaz.com.au/

OK Team manager hat is ON (unless health prevents it but count me in). That prerequisite is for L2S Junior so open L2S is fine. Aaron, congrats on the good news. Have you contacted a local brake and clutch place? They should have disc blanks available from RDA that can be machined to size and slotted. Racebrakes should have a decent price on pads as well, for example GTR genuine pads are about $1000 but $270 for the front axle in RB74 compound. Worth an ask. How are we for team numbers? If we are short I'd love to offer a slot to one of the guys from SelectMaz. Can't guarantee they would take it but it would be good exposure and they are a great bunch. Watch for a new topic shortly in the VIC section where I thankl them for their support. I'll also ask Spence if he wants to tag along to watch and swing some spanners on the day. He's a very highly qualified mechanic, so much so that he almost can't swing spanners anymore. Geoff out.

Take Shivs S, we never see him anyway. Get an M, you're only going to get older and fatter anyway

Wrong, the brand often determines the type. In the case of K&N and Finer they are oiled and therefore illegal in every state I have checked the allowances for replacement filters. Testing of flow and cleaning ability points to the Apexi as the best available so ditch your pods, use the stock airbox with Apexi panel and some breathing mods and (for Victorians and others limited to no other mods when a larger IC is installed) and get a decent front mount and stay legal.
-
I don't like them because they are oiled, so can introduce oil onto the AFM element and they don't clean very well. They also state they are for race only therefore call doubts about legality for road use. Read the above I have posted. Will your non turbo GTS-4 be pulling more power than my GTR? Stick with the stock (but modified for extra air inlets) airbox and use an Apexi filter panel and protect your engine. Would you use really crap oil in the engine? Why introduce dust that will increase wear more than some oils? Sure it doesn't look as cool, but if you wanted to be cool you'd have a GTR or RZ Supra or late model RX-7

Completely wrong. Just because it makes more noise doesn't mean it flows more. It could be increased turbulence causing the noise, or greater restriction, ie blow a certain mass(at the same temperature) of air through 2 vastly different sized orifices in the same amount of time....the smaller orifice makes much more noise due to increased turbulence and restriction so more effort or pressure is required to do the same job resulting in a less efficient delivery. Equate this to the smaller filtering surface area and the turbo dragging the air through. Also in terms of sound pressures, if noise is coming out that is causing a negative pressure wave in the intake. Bottom line, HKS filters are complete junk. There was a HKS panel in my GTR and the amount of sediment lying in the bottom of my airbox after the filter was worrying. Correct that stock power levels would be around the same but better flow means better response. The important thing though is clean air and HKS clearly fails that criteria from both my personal experience and others' testing. What the testing shows is the boost produced by the car with each filter, of which the Apexi and then Blitz were the best (highest) with SARD and HKS the worst, and the filtering ability for the medium used for which the Apexi performed best and the HKS about the worst. I have another similar study on my other computer that I'll post if I remember.
