Fs: 3" Mild Steel Tanabe Cat Back
GTRgeoff replied to dezz's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Only 15 min drive away. Maybe the wife will take me over to where you work to pickup. Otherwise I'll be here pretty much everyday until released from post surgery prison. -
I thought this had been answered many times across the forum but: 1. No you won't lose power steer, it simply reverts to the slightly harder setting. Noticeable when cranking around a roundabout at about 50kmh. Fitting a set of castor adjustors in my case completely removed the effect and improved turn in dramatically. 2. Yes. 3. It depends. Some people shouldn't have a license and probably can't tell if the front or rear wheels do the steering on their car. Just about everyone else will get some benefit. If you ever get some oversteer at over 80 kmh (and it can happen even if not hooning, I came around a bend where some tool had tracked mud onto the road and had a brief moment in the GTR) you will find the rears turn in the direction of the slide creating a tank slapper effect. This has resulted in numerous loss of control situations. Hope that helps.

Arc Super Air Intake
GTRgeoff replied to lexbomb's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
$90 was asked for in the other thread/forum. My offer stands if you can't move it, and offers aren't leaping your way. Not really worth anything more to me since I don't have a 32 and was just grabbing it as a gift for a mate. Plus I expect a well modified stock airbox with Apexi filter will flow as well and doesn't introduce oil to your intake. -

Mike I'm up northside near Epping, at South Morang. No hurry (since I can't fit it yet) but don't want to miss out. Happy to pre-pay via direct bank deposit but I'm sure you'd rather not have it under foot in the garage. The auto is better quiet rather than loud and droning. Of course getting loud when you nail it is fine. I'm sure the exhaust it has would be great on a manual but on the auto which is always flaring revs it just doesn't sound right. Cheers mate. -
Personally I'm keen to put a Soarer 4L V8 (maybe s/charged) in an MX-5. There's a whole can of Porka ass whuppin' but it still isn't a track GTR, which is the subject of the thread. Alternatively there are Lotus 7 copies and other dedicated track cars will hand a porsche it's lofty price tag. Until you come in with an F1 for every raising of the stakes I'll throw a quicker car at you. I suggest we stick on topic. It would be interesting to know how aforementioned series of expensively built GTR's would go with a different steerer.......sometimes the slowest part of the car is the driver, no matter the price tag of the mods. BTW the RPM GTR has pulled a 1:16 at Sandown on street rubber. Slicks would be interesting, as would a weght reduction. A GTR32 that's all stripped out has done a 1:15. Both extraordinary examples of the breed. I'm still to get back to the GTS25t IOT humble some GTRs, but with at least 6-8 weeks slow buildup after back surgery it isn't coming soon.

No worries Rick. I'll take it.

How loud Mike? The exhaust on my auto 33 is a bit loud for me so I want to change. Due to the recent surgery I'd appreciate delivery in exchange for coffee and my outstanding company. I can't drive for 3 weeks. I'll take the indicator stalk as well. -
Recaro Seat Rails
GTRgeoff replied to Billy_W's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Buy direct from the Australian Recaro dealer. An internet search will reveal. -
So far the injury has been plagueing me for 3 years. It took 2 years for the first surgery to be allowed. I had 6 weeks recovery after the first surgery before starting some light gardening and the disc ruptured again. Significantly I didn't have the caurterizing in the first. The surgeon said I was fine and could start heavier activity. Good neurosurgeon but this time I have one of the best orthos around who does just backs and I trust his judgement. This time definitely 6 weeks of light walking then a slow increase. Army will keep me in a bit longer until I'm fit to discharge. I was retiring 31 Aug. Obviously no DECA, but I have the opportunity for a full life without disability so the trade is worth it. I may or may not make Meridians day. I'll see if Spence will take me. Chris, feel free to drop by. I'm good for making a decent coffee. 0408 1254 767.

Thanks for the well wishes, and thanks for posting up a sitrep for me Bris. It just won't do to go MIA like that. I was feeling poorly Thurs, and had a severe downturn Friday which had me admitted to Epworth emergency dept. Nerve compression was so severe the surgeon was concerned with permanent damage. Saturday was worse. Completely crippled, no use of left leg and excrutiating pain. Lotsa morphine. Op went ahead Saturday, cleaned up extensive internal scar tissue from original operation 12 months ago, decompressed the nerve and removed extruded material from disc when it ruptured again. Then a quick caurterize of the disc to build scar tissue and strengthen it. I was told by other docs that a disc fuse or replacment was necessary, but this doc is well regarded and has about 1/100 failures so i'm hoping for a long term recovery. Discharged today with less pain than I've had in months...years even. Last op took a week to get out of hospital so hope this is an indication of the expertise of the surgeon. It will be 6 weeks before I'm doing much more than walking, and of course the bars will take longer to complete so with patience I'll get to everyone. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the next meeting. Geoff

Nice one Juz. I'll record direct to High Def DVD if you want a copy for properity. Maybe even post up low res on Bass's vid site.

Precisely, it's a mostly confidence issue in the adhesion of the tyres. Not that I'm a relaible source since I haven't been on the track in 18 months. From what I recall they don't let anyone fit them on 350Z's though David so you can forget about it

abcent, glad you like. Hope the dorifto is good too. Jon, slowly producing but the back has spat the dummy so I can't walk right now (lose the use of my left leg due to disc rupture crimping the nerve). usually takes a few days to sort out but I have plenty of stock to get bars out withing a week of ordering. Cheers.

This metalcast stuff is heat resistant paint Troy. Is 2 pack capable of handling 600 deg C radiated temps @ 2-3cm? Seriously I never bothered to find out.
-
Thanks, I'll pass on the dumps. Wheel sold I presume?
-
My latest completion, the Lotus. Bare metal foil on rims and clear coated with 2 pack using the Aztec dual airbrush. Aside from a couple of dust spots the finish is so crystal it's amazing.

Just a note that I'm back in production. Cheers

Yeah click on options up top in the thread and click track topic.....noobs Certainly interested in the results though.

Rick, are the dumps R34? If so I'll take them. Also I'll take the wheel. Cheers.

I've used them in the DET head, so if they have hydraulic followers they will give the same problems. The flank angles are too high so I found almost no power under 5K rpm but plenty over. The cams can be reground to give even more lift and the right profile for hydraulics.

Yep, p*ss off the standard cheapo hose clamps and replace with heavy duty bypass bolted clamps.
-
Just to add to the oil discussion, I recommend the oil pump be thoroughly checked and the screws into the back plate then loctited in. It's amazing how many reports I get of the screws going loose. Just how many screws loose does it take before oil pressure is severely reduced? Not sure yet.

I've got some spare hoses courtesy of one of the guys in Brisbane. Just over in South Morang (Mill Park Lakes) so if you wanna come over and have a look to see if I have the right one feel free. PM for address and tel #.

The bloke ordering Fourex of course, but I'm afraid i can't make it, so since I can't be there to talk about me I'll let you blokes make something up I've found a way to drop weight. Gunna get a doc to take a disc out and replace it with titanium and ceramic.
