My Restoration
GTRgeoff replied to Godzilla32's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Hey Deren, I don't see any sealant around those.....going to put a little in just to be sure or does he think it will be ok? Not that I can really see the interface that needs sealant from this angle...... I've been trying to help a few other guys that are OCD and pulled their TBs off, then cleaned all the "gunk" out and now can't idle lower than 1500 No reports if they have resealed and had success yet. -
$300/hr is ridiculous. Try Godzilla in Tingalpa or for a very well priced option come to Mick at Signature in Ipswich. He looks after many club members that run track at very good rates.

J-spec are always competitive on pricing.... http://www.j-spec.com.au/

Hunzi might help to chuck up an address mate. I'm having trouble finding Parklands in GC. Hope you have a good event.
-
Dean, exactly why I don't bother with the codemasters racing stuff anymore mate. Race Drivers 1 and 2 were massive disappointments, simply being ports from platform games so the steering and braking are nonlinear. Avoid their product and get the good ones like are being discussed in my online racing league thread.

I've watched a few times Duncan. Not been overly impressed, but then they do usually choose contestants for these kinds of shows for entertainment instead of capability. Just hasn't really caught my interest mate. Maybe it's the Poms

Made some changes to reflect some up to date info. Had a discussion with Sam and a few others and it would appear he has turned around a lot of things that were once relevant, and so worthy of an opinion change. May be worth going the remap route and certainly keen to know the outcome if you do it Bryn.

And you.....

Live for speed is always a good starter. Very easy to setup for a quick online session as well. I got a G25 as well, they were a great price on Deals Direct. All I can find of my Logitech MOMO is the wheel, no idea of the location of the pedals and transformer. Stinking removalists. Still finding stuff missing and they only paid us 14K for lost gear.

The threat of f'wit factor has everybody at sauqld. The cruzin latte crowd are too scared to come there.

Should I feel atrocisized? Nice looking job though but isn't it spelt 120Why?

As long as you enjoy it Nick it will be fine by me.

It's just Geoff mate. We aren't formal here. You have to be running a fair amount of power for a single 044 to be running at the limit. The reason for running 2 pumps after a swirl pot fed by a lift pump is to protect your investment in an expensive engine. If you lift your power requirements beyond that of a single pump (in which case there is an argument to run separate fuel lines from each pump) then you must get new pumps that will deliver the power you require. As for drilling out the non-return valves, they are a restriction above a certain flow rate, but should not cause a problem at the flow rates expected from an 044. If you need more flow, get a larger valve. And yes they will often allow pressure loss in a standing fuel system but every fuel system has that in common. The reason for their existence is to stop the fuel finding the easiest route out, and that will be a pump that isn't running and pressure loss in an engine being pushed hard is almost a guarantee for a meltdown. Sure it may be a little more expensive to do it properly, and not as ghetto or drift cool as drilling them out for extra flow that isn't needed anyway, but it is definitely cheaper than lunching a motor.
-
The non return valves need to be there in case one pump shuts down. If it does then the other will pump straight back to the tank instead of the fuel rail and you could have a wrecked engine on your hands so you have the non-return valves to make sure the fuel only goes to the engine.

Thanks guys but no platform discussion here thanks. This is PC based hardcore sims only.

My Restoration

You can also use the hose bend product that stops kinking, although I doubt they come big enough for radiator hoses. -
Anything called race driver is tarred with the brush of the previous releases. Just another platform to pc port, so it is guaranteed to be rubbish. Anyway, not here to talk about playstation stuff. Who wants to discuss racing?

Deren, gates racing do a good set of hoses at a decent price. Even Autobarn should be able to source them. -
Matt, just make sure your timing marks on the cam gears and the cam drive gear are aligned properly. There is a notch in the oil pump housing for alignment of the drive and marks on the outside of the cam gear backing plate to align the cams. Get them aligned, slip the cam belt on keeping the right side as you look at it tight then adjust the tension. Check again that all the alignment marks are properly lined up and then wind over the engine 2 turn clockwise as you look at it by hand and check again, then if all is aligned properly re-tension the cam belt.

Go ahead and convince me. I've only been racing for 22 years and no console based game has ever been realistic enough for me. And I guess your "track day" was one of those worthless fun days they have at Winton. How do your laptimes at Winton, PI, Sandown and Calder stack up? No room to hide in timed racing. Of course the fun days have no timing...... Time I think for an online SAU tournament. here is the link. Let's race. Tournament du SAU

First of all, no chat about platforms or obvious ports from platforms. They are not "Sims" but are Games. This for PC simulations only. I'll simply have the dribble cleaned out if you can't stay on topic. Hey guys and gals. I've been looking at the number of Sim racers on here and I think it's time to conduct some online racing amongst ourselves. No sheepstations or anything but I'm keen just to have some organised racing without the usual internet randoms that keep trying to screw stuff up or wanting to drift. So I'd like to see who is interested, what games you have or recommend including mods to the game and then we'll start with a few basic races, ad-hoc sort of thing before progressing to a league with a weekly race for championship points. No platforms and no ports so that rules out the Race Driver/V8SC rubbish and their like. But post up what you have and like. I have: GTR GTR 2 Grand Prix Legends rFactor Live for Speed And I have a number of older ones. Not interested in oval track Nascar or F1, but I'll give it a try now and again for some variety. In fact the League could have us racing crappy FWD bangers one week, F1 style the next and heavily modded sports class the next to really shake us up. The only prizes are bragging rights. Anyone caught cheating or trying to ruin it for others will be kicked and not invited back. That includes jumping sand traps and such. No computer assists either. No ABS, traction or stability control. This is natural driving for the sheer skill and fun of it. Make sure you aren't running a lag monster ISP connection for your own enjoyment and for others. Also if you feel like a random race just post up for interest, pick a time to allow others to get organised and get it rolling. It would be great for practice sessions and setup sharing too. Let's go racing. direct email is president at sauqld dot com or skype is geoff.williams89 if you want a quick contact for an online race.

I love going to the racetrack and watching the GranTurismo generation in their first session. Almost guaranteed to have an off and tag a tyre barrier or a wall. Funnily enough their race lines are crap. As for Race Driver (aka the V8SC series) they are another platform game ported to PC and are really very poor sims. Just more marketing hype and complete rubbish.
