32gtr Ecu And 33gtr Engine
GTRgeoff replied to PHATR32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
32's have the smaller O2s Steve, well the smaller thread diameter. Something like 12mm but I'm not 100% on that. Unfortunately I don't have a GTR32 in the garage to check but take some dims of the sensor thread and body size and I can compare to mine. -
I just caught this on the digi recorder so I'll post up the vid later if I can. Seemed a pretty hopeless steerer.

32gtr Ecu And 33gtr Engine

A point to consider, R32 and R33 GTR PFCs are the same. The O2 sensors are a different (smaller) size, otherwise you are fine. Electro, if you are going to post technical info make sure it is correct, or clarify that you haven't bothered to check. You are almost entirely wrong and while someone would be crazy to take the word of one individual on the web there are folks who could be disadvantaged considerably. -
Feel the love mate. Are these your friends? Happy birthday.

And I now have awesome centre caps....becoming obsessed. All your fault. Oh and bump for the GTR33 caps.

Good argument, and I agree with all points except the dodgy engineering. My personal beef with the GTR seats is they don't fit my upper back and shoulders leaving me with no upper back support in the middle. Sounds like vehicle mod engineering in Qld is a bit lax. I decided not to take up VASS due to icRoads needing 3 types of insurance and the likely cost. Made it financially unworkable knowing I'm home to Qld soon but the cost of insurance means engineering in Vic is expensive. I intend to do engineering in Brisvegas if the requirements stack up. The engineer has to be satisfied the frames and anchorages are at least able to meet ADR 3 with full documentation to the fact that he considers welds, joints and material up to the task. If you consider a set of nice Recaros (around $1500 ea new) and baseframes to suit Skylines at around $300 each for a straight bolt in with ADR compliance then a couple of thousand for R34 seats is in effect good money depending on condition. Cheaply (or any) priced second hand Recaros are probably more rare than GTR34 seats or even GTR33 seats for that matter.

Northern Suburbs Monthly "breakfast Of Champions" Meet
GTRgeoff replied to funkymonkey's topic in Victoria
Yep. -
If that is the case then as a seat not originally intended for that model they must be engineered. There is one cop here in Vic that may know the difference who is distributing folders of detail and photos to other TMUs. In Vic, having referred to the VASS (Engineering handbook) rules a seat not originally intended for the model must merely be ADR approved. There are some other details regarding range of motion and pre ADR crap but not pertinent at this stage.

Always welcome. Crissed as a picket. fired up the ..erm...fire and downed some drinks with the teenage bride. Time to stop and go to bed. Gotta go to troys soon I guess to grab wheels off Marcus. Maybe we can do then. GTR seats not bolted in either.

So you can be a latte sippin' yuppie. Just be there Sunday or I'm comin' round!!! -
And invite friends... All the best champ.

Be nice......you want cash or card??

Mine aren't bolted in if you must try, or you could just buy my auto for drag strip goodness and R33 stylishness.

I probably won't be building a track GTR, but a track MX-5. Do what the guys at Bullet do and chop the front off, space frame detachable front end (easier to work around) with discreet breakaway components for cheap fixes if I have a nasty bump, decent gearbox, brakes, Soarer 4.0L V8 with some headwork and MoTeC, maybe even supercharged and pumped guards with plenty of rubber. Add a decent hoop, seats and harness and it would be diabolical.

Ideal Rules For A Modern Racing Series.
GTRgeoff replied to GTRgeoff's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
By family of vehicles I was attempting to create the option for engine changes across the family eg rb26 in gtst etc, also for any commodore/falcon to run their production V8/SC6/T6. And yes, the cars have to have the opportunity for decent power so restrictor plates are the only successful way to control that. Boost restrictions were a complete failure in GT Production/Nations Cup. What you have listed above Steve is a bit of a chequebook class for turbo cars. What about others? Maybe we just need to look at Production Class with some improvements in the power and suspension area. Who wants to post up the class regs and we can tear them apart with assistance from those that race in that class? -

My Eyes!!!!! It's hideous!!!!

I've had a set of GTR33 seats apart to discover minimalistic welds and poor structural design around stress locations resulting in cracks in the tubing in the heat affected zone. So ultimately they are a good manufacturer seat, better than most but in back to back testing they have nowhere near the support, quality of manufacture and rigidity of something like a Recaro. The aftermarket seat wins hands down for my comfort and quality choice. That is my professional engineers judgement. That being said they are designed to fit a Skyline so such niceties as having the passenger seat roll forward on seat tilt may be what people want so they may wish to pay for that convenience. Ultimately it is individual choice and folks will pay what they feel comfortable with.

Great points Daniel, and always happy for intelligent debate. As Troy said, it's gotta be a lot of dead weight in both cars. The first GTR32 was 1430kg, the last was 1500kg (where did that 70kg of lard come from?? maybe chassis stiffening and I should drive a later model one as I've only driven 1989 to 1991) and the GTR33 was 1530kg so we aren't talking a great percentage here in difference. It would be an interesting comparison to see just how far one can be stripped down in each instance. Personally I could drop 30kg myself........ Putting in stiffeners is a perfectly acceptable engineering method, as the application can be optimised. Consider the GTR34 Z-tune with carbon applique around the front strut towers for improved rigidity. BTW track is 1480 f/r on GTR32 and GTR33 1480/1490mm. Again not much difference in the rear, but wider all the same If tyres and wheels are free then 33/34 can carry larger rubber as well so there is also an advantage there to counter a little weight difference. Ultimately there are plenty of cheap 32's so instantly there is a massive advantage in going that way so money is available for performance.

Sounds like you either don't have a good enough rolled edge/retainer on the metal pipe or your clamps were either not tight enough or not up to the job. When the exhaust is hot you could end up with a lot of flame out the exhaust like I did, melting the rear bumper, but you have to drive a little way for that anyway. Otherwise you could just clog up your plugs with carbon but no real damage will occur if you stop pretty soon after blowing the hose.
