  1. Everyone knows I'm a bit of a grouch about being in Victoria. Just take in the fabulous 30+ degree gale force winds outside and you'd understand. 5 1/2 years here now and the first few were pretty dull untill I got interested in my car and started racing again and joined a certain online forum. The members of that forum became family. You can't choose them. Some you tolerate or just get along with or even ignore, but by and large some of the finest people I have ever met have come from this forum and the outstanding online discussions had. Were it not for circumstance preventing me physically in the past couple of years and impending changes in my life and location in the future I would be proud to do more through the club in a formal capacity. I will support every event possible for the remainder of my time here though. Fortunately we have the most profoundly excellent commitee that I couldn't ever hope to improve upon myself, and a sensational membership in the club as well. It will be a sad day when i must go, but I have a few more months yet to enjoy your company. I wish you all a great Christmas and New Year festivities and look forward to an entertaining 2006. If you could all stand and show your appreciation. Ladies and Gentlemen: the SAU Vic Commitee and Membership CLAP CLAP CLAP...........(feel free to continue)
  2. Shan, I don't think Sunday will be good for most people if you're trying to crank something up. Where were you last night anyway mate.
  3. Aren't you supposed to put butter on steak??

  6. You haven't heard the half of it yet.....

  9. Chris, pretty interested in this cooler and relocation kit so I'll take it once I've had a chance to have a look at it. Let me know a good time and place to see it. I'm way up near Epping but happy to take a drive and bring cash. Geoff
  10. Rushs there are a huge number of girls travelling alone. You soon find some people to travel with or do an Intrepid tour. Our friends had 5 south african doctors with them who had just finished and they were party animals. Eating everything and drinking lots. One night in Vietnam they all got drunk with my mates and their tour guide and the pedalcab drivers. On of the Docs got to drive the pedalcab with his mate and driver in the back and crashed and broke the cab in half and had to pay about $50 for repairs. Not all guys but gf's and wives and singles in the groups too. Bec, I know you love me heaps so don't pretend you'll hate me for having a good time babe Dan it wasn't the same without you and Hannah there for the first night. Tell her I have an even better place to stay on Lamai beach Samui. Thai House Beach Resort. Only 100m from the Pavilion, not quite as flash to look at as it is in a traditional design but the rooms are nicer and staff awesomely friendly. Also saved $1000 on accomodation there than with Pavilion over 22 nights but this time had a beach front Villa with an outdoor garden shower. Only been open since January. SCUBA diving I recommend Wowie and Anna at Mui Divers Lamai. Great english skills with this couple running their own business on Samui since 2003. Wowie is from the Phillipines and very natural in his instruction and Anna is Finnish with a meticulous style of instruction and looked after the ladies and new divers very well. I saw instructors with the bigger companies putting new divers in the water with clearly limited instruction and some left the water never to return I thought. This was a group of 7 being taught SCUBA diver - the first level of competency. Just scary as it is too big a group. Mui will only do 4 with an instructor. I had plenty of Army experience doing recovery diving but no civil qualification so just ran along with the others to have my competency recognised to open water level with some recommendations for higher skills to be recognised. Now to get a few dives here in the bay and other nearby sites so I welcome any recommendations.
  11. That would have been nice. Sounds like ferni needs to get a new ticker Nick my friends did Cambodia and Vietnem while I lazed on Samui. They loved it.
  12. Thought you'd like that Mike. They even do a photo where the most placid Tigers head is in your lap. There's a lot to see but sounds like you love it as much as me Dave. My mates wouldn't play golf with me but so much else to do I wasn't worried. I was offered a Dive shop but may just go work for the guy while I finish my Dive Master and Master SCUBA instructor stuff. See if Army will foot the bill as it's something I can do without hurting the spine. You must visit these islands though Dave, really hammers every other place I've been. Ash, if you lock it mate I can't share anymore Ferni, we had a girl who is allergic to fish and seafood and she did fine. So much to try, even King Island T bone at one swish place. BTW the girl in the black T shirt and backpack lower left in the beach photo is a dive instructor on Samui. Tiny little Thai girl and about the cutest thing I've ever seen in her tiny white bikini.
  13. I heard a quote over there about moon parties on Koh Phangan (between Samui and Tao and the traditional place for the parties)....full moon party, quarter moon party, half moon party, no moon party. Any moon, Party!!! Not too many remember what happens at the parties which is probably a shame.
  14. Alright, a vid. Turn the sound up as one tiger gets too close to another tigers water. One of my friends is the one in the white Tee shirt in the first frame. Tiger_NEW.wmv
  15. Hah!!! Hear this???? No? Let me turn it up <flips the bird> I'll get a short vid up of the tigers soon. No pressies Greg. Did see a couple of guys in Bangkok going out for the day chasing each other in their Evo VI and VIII but couldn't hire one
  16. Definitely worth a visit, if even for a Thai oil massage. I'm half convinced to move there for a few years. Just a few low res shots there to get the juices flowing for Big boy The ocean ones are Koh Tao from the bar on the beach and the little island just off Koh Tao where we dived. Two little islands linked by the whitest sand you ever saw and sometimes the tide goes a bit over it. Just spectacular.
  17. Yeah Scuba isn't for everyone, but I love it and after recovery diving in quarries and such the ocean is just magnificent. No spear fishing as there were too many divers around with good clear water in short supply with the rains. Everyone went to Koh Tao but as conditions improve it thins out a bit. More than happy to tell of the good sights as well.
  18. After a marathon (or so it seemed) 4 full weeks away in Bangkok and on the islands in the Gulf of Thailand I have survived catching nothing communicable or tummy related. Awesome SCUBA diving around Koh Tao north of Koh Samui but next time I might just stay on Tao for a week. A daily 2 hour ride each way on the ferry in seas up to 12 feet was a bit much and dampened the enthusiasm a bit. Once on Koh Tao I thought a movie or swimsuit calendar was being shot....Damn!!! I was diving there as the waters elsewhere where too murky for good diving. Great crews of dive leaders in the area as well and all real friendly. Heartbroken to leave as the weather was getting really great but the tan is acceptable and i have been missing the GTR (which has a flat battery now so waiting on the charge). Ending each day of diving with a great massage (no really just a massage) with a lovely young local lady and several longnecks of Heinekin with a few mates and our better halves can't be beat. Fishing, eating the local tucker of mostly seafood and chillis and dodging some of the local ladies who assured me that they loved me was just part of the fun. Even when raining we still had a good time in the pool and bars. I spent a little time with Tigers at Wat Po Temple and toured Hellfire pass and its museum before a train ride on the Death railway (one life for each sleeper laid) to Kanchaniburi. That was the mainland done so 3 weeks on the Islands followed. Really looking forward to catching up with a few of you Tuesday so be there and I may even get a few pics and short vids together on the laptop. Sawadee krab. Now how's that damn battery????
  19. Big ask mate. A few are going to the Casino for Leewahs meet and fleece party
  20. That was crap Pete. I get more slidewys in the GTR Lucky Dave was around to keep the rwd guys looking respectable and get footage or someone would be hosing pete out of the Desperatetown sections tomight..... Only managing to look at a few but looked fun again. Chris, do you use our handbrake, or do I have to pt up a tutorial????
  21. Well doesn't that just suck. A great weekend and I missed out. BTW the Samui airport transfer bus drivers put us all to shame. Still I'm having a good time despite no GTR to fun in
  22. Take a look at www.roadsense.com.au and you may find the answer to back up Ash's advice.
  23. Mark, thanks for the compliment. Double sided tape for the decal, so it's a real pain to remove. The colour is Metalcast Red anodize, so it is more a metallic cherry red than orange.
  24. Yeah I guess it's what you define female and male, and I was talking about the serial connectors sorry. I was looking at the overall plug, and not the pins but considered that way it makes sense to me. Here's a few more pics that may be of use.
  25. Peter, I put mine together and discovered it didn't work. A first for me with a kit. I had a look at 46n2's board last night and discovered there is a small error in the instructions. My fault for not looking at the pics enough but I normally go off the diagram. The board diagram has male marked as the 2 led end and female as the capacitor end, and so too do your instructions but the actual picture shows them around the other way (unless I'm having some identity issues with what constitutes male and female ). As soon as I swapped them it was running perfect.
