That is as good as we get in Vic Paul so, while I still can't confirm when I'll be able to move to Brisbane I am hopeful it will be around Feb. With that in mind put me down.

Mate that would be awesome. So who wants to come along? You making an appearance Khoa?

This will give some idea Alan but not the complete list yet. http://www.vhrr.com/sandown.htm

I use them on my track car with slotted fronts. They are as good as the DBA and I've heard of no failures with them compared to a few of the other brand.

350z Brembos On R32 Gtr?
GTRgeoff replied to GTR_Junkie's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Disc offset may be an issue as I believe they are different to a 33/34GTR. If they come with discs and they fit the you should be fine. -
This is awesome news. So glad that all are healthy (especially Snowie - we know what mums in labour can be like ) and the delivery was without complications. Hope you are home soon with Keira and resting well Tara. Time for Andrew to do some hard work.

Compliance is managed at a Commonwealth level by DOTRS but must also be roadworthy in the state of rego. I would contact said epartment and cut out the Vic incompetence.

I think we hammer them for discrimination.... Spoke to a copper mate about this over breakfast yesterday. It will generally be employed for the real idiots. Remember you always have the right of appeal and to submit a complaint if an officer is overzealous or discriminatory. There must be a real offence. BTW I picked him up in the GTR and gave a demonstration of wet standing start traction. He was, to say the least, impressed and with no wheelspin, there was no hoon behaviour

Here's the calendar link http://www.vhrr.com/calendar.htm#start Big Pete reckons it's very cool and the ex-Gibson cars will be there so I'm thinking of making an effort on one day to go take a look. Just thought I'd offer a heads up for racing enthusiasts that have missed this. Cheers Geoff

Painting and Powder coating rocker covers

Some pics in the morning sunlight to try to show the finish. Not quite the same as actually seeing it which is a lot better. -
R34 Brembo Into R33 Gtr
GTRgeoff replied to m&m's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Not to mention they are the lowest spec Brembo money can buy. Evo's and Sti's have a better spec Brembo but it's amazing how much people ask for the 34 items in comparison (they are gold and R34 so must be the best) -

They'd look similar to this, given this is where I discovered this stuff -
Painting and Powder coating rocker covers
GTRgeoff replied to maximumrpm's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Cheers for the comments. It was possibly the easiest paint I've ever used and the red is a thin crystal lacquer that some have used on brakes and from photos looks great months later. You can polish then lacquer straight over as well which may even be a nicer finish but the polishing an me just weren't getting on. I just wanted it clean enough to clear lacquer but never found a point where I was satisfied. There is a heap of sanding and prep before polishing the other items TT pipe and plenum) that I may call on the anodizing paint again using another colour. The Millenuim Jade is a nice fresh look too. What was the inspiration? Was that an M Spec colour? -
Painting and Powder coating rocker covers
GTRgeoff replied to maximumrpm's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
I've cracked it with trying to polish the front cover as it keeps coming up with marks from any contact, so I hit it with an alkaline solution to give a good base for paint. Then I grabbed some Holts Metalcast red anodized finish and the base coat (silver) and bugger me if it isn't just like the R34 finish I'll post pics when this forum stops stuffing about. -
Whats The Diff Between R33 Gtr & N1 Oil Pumps?
GTRgeoff replied to Shaun's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Regardless of new or old, take out the screws and use some loctite to reassemble for gods sake. Reports in my engine thread are that loose screws is common and coincides with low oil pressure. -
What Is Wrong With Adjustable Arms
GTRgeoff replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah it's only the rose joint and $50 is pretty cheap. This is the quality of a lot of the dodge product on the market that guys are buying for $200 at a bargain price, and later they will be sorry. -
What Is Wrong With Adjustable Arms
GTRgeoff replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
As promised, pictures of the ugly things. Skinny across the shell with casting marks remaining (stress concentrators and crack propagation points). A couple of sharp edges for stress concentration and failure points in the machining, but you want the rose joint to fail, not the rod. Casting marks at the shell/sphere junction. I mean WTF is with that piece of absolute crap finishing???? An ideal location for grit to deposit creating an environment for accelerated wear. Yes they are smooth, now, but will last barly 3 months so will not make it onto the car. Emergency spares at best. Glad I got these real cheap!! -
Yeah I've knocked off about 6 clutches Slowly working through the vids. Good fun stuff.

What Is Wrong With Adjustable Arms
GTRgeoff replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Both of the items Merlin and Rick posted appear to be good quality sphericals, based solely on the thickness of the spherical capture shell and the finish and should hope they last. I have a set of caster rods for the GTR that have abominable thickness and finish quality and I will take photos shortly to demonstrate. Admittedly I got them cheap, real cheap (like Richard) and like an ass I got what I paid for as I had no opportunity to inspect before accepting them. Fortunately the rose joint is the only poor quality aspect of the unit and they are an off the shelf size so I can replace them without too much concern and still be very far ahead of the market asking price. I use them in very limited and easily inspected/replaced applications such as caster rods because I spend a fair amount of time inspecting my cars. Joe Sunday doesn't have a clue and is at the mercy of poor advice from the market, hence the warnings from a highly experienced suspension engineer with racing credentials, a mechanical engineer with experience on the track, a weapons systems mechanical engineer with over 20 years racing experience on track and in rally and another experienced track hand. We aren't weak sauce but are concerned for our members welfare, and on lap times in the traditional track use are all fairly competent performers, but I guess that attitude just comes down to mature outlook and years of experience. As an aside I dropped in to see Issy at SelectMaz to see if his Improved Production RX7 was for sale, as I want to campaign it over the next few years. SK might be aware of this car and its potential, but unfortunately they will be racing it next year, possibly in NSW competition as well. We were talking about the life of rose joints and Issy said the most he ever got was 2 years and then they were terrible. He also recommended only use them if you are capable of frequent inspection. So, go ahead and use them, but be diligent in your maintenance and inspection regime, for your own safety and the safety of others. -
S'all good. At least NSW has decent football.

Excellent. With the trip to Samui the day before this is the only way I can participate.
-
Decisions??? There are none. Screw the cost of fuel, just buy and enjoy. I have one of each of the R33 Turbo collection and somedays I just can't decide which to drive.

Here now, no abusing then deleting....and I'm a Queenslander. I'm just stuck in Vic for a bit
