Saw your thread Pete, it bites the bag. The dodgy slogan one is good though.

Hmmm, interesting reads guys since I'm (eventually - slowly) moving back to Brisbane. I'll point out now that my intent when I return is to do some work as a vehicle engineering modifications inspector or what they call VASS (vehicle assesment signatory scheme) in Vic so it is important to know the differences for both business and my own car ownership needs. Just a couple of quick notes from what I have just read. BOV must be fitted after the turbo to be effective. Also all engines must have a crankcase breather and it must be fitted before the turbo to be effective. Conclusion, crankcase gasses can be emmited from an atmo BOV but plod doesn't need to know that. The best fibs have an element of the truth. Cutting holes in the body should be fine as long as they don't affect a structural member or sufficient strengthening has been added to maintain normal integrity. For pulling a driver over they need a reason as stated earlier. Mandatory breathaliser does not fall into this category unless they witnessed driving consistent with being under the influence. If they ABUSE this IOT do an inspection then they are leaving themselves open to complaint and desk duty (good one Bob). I also have friends in Police services around the country from SA right around the eastern states to NT. They are good guys who have their reps ruined by a few tosspots so be nice initially and if they are said floggers then immediately ask for the recording and recommence the conversation. Cheers and good luck with the inspection darren.

I Am The Greatest Home Mechanic That Ever Lived!
GTRgeoff replied to PranK's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Well done champ. It's as good a project to get the teeth into as any. Next an engine rebuild with forgies huh? And those Bilsteins are so sweet in my GTR33 after the crapexi suspension it came with. Save the leftover bits -
Jarrod, while I am not absolutely certain, my experience across RB's you will find that most of the items are compatible, but given the much lower spec of the running gear and brakes it would be much more intelligent and possibly even cheaper to just move the NA and go with a turbo model.

Update: I was advised of shipment Tuesday and Delivery occured Wednesday. No sweat on the delay as I already knew some items needed to be manufactured. A couple of items still to come but I now have the important items to smooth out my ride. How am I feeling? Ecstatic!! What a great shock/spring setup. Massive increase in front grip on bumpy corners.

Oh and Jenna, you are of course welcome. We met briefly on the drive up to Benalia at the lunch stop.

Well it's only the 20th today so the next one will be the sixth, unless we want to get together this weekend or next weekend. So give some feedback on what you all want to do.

Cycle from Thredbo to Melbourne via the high plains and Mount Hotham with all the camping gear on panniers. Did it with my wife a few years ago. Also - take a quick look at Vic then go to Qld forever

How can we have a prez-off if the Budge is an ex-prez? That RA has a good tight CR box which is great for accel, but damn it loses some time at the island. I reckon Snowy is feeling some mortality with the little one on the way. No point killing yourself to prove a point It's about the fun right? Can't wait to get back out there myself after 12 months broken.

Yeah, nothing wrong with fattening the car up as that allows significant track width increase so is a performance improvement, but the badges are a no-no and are worse than rice. They say imitation is the greatest form of compliment, but I think it's just sick and is a demonstration of no individuality. Now, time to fit some Bilsteins and their stickers

What Is Wrong With Adjustable Arms
GTRgeoff replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah the whole modification issue is a bit odd and depends on your state. As for ADR's, they don't "approve" anything as such but detail guidelines for minimum standard of form, fit and function which I would suggest Whiteline components that they recommend for road do if they are a ISO quality endorsed organisation. States then add complexity, Qld being the golden state right now for detailed mod allowances. The article goes on to discuss certain manufacturers that fail to meet specific ADR's so to be pedantic on a modifier would open up a case for hammering all the manufacturers and putting Aussie jobs at risk. A situation the government would want to avoid so handled correctly the jackbooted tool trying to defect you would be told in no uncertain terms by senior management to make it go away if you contested. Likewise the argument that all manufacturer supplied kit is the only legal thing to have on cars and all else is a mod. This effectively puts all aftermarket suppliers at risk and again jobs would disappear. Governments would intervene. Manufacturers all make mistakes. Look at Toyota right now with massive recalls for dimmers and the Prius problems. The legality/duty-of-care issues are getting out of hand in this country and semi-literate tradies are attempting to interpret law and engineering advice to cover their asses from insurance companies who like many use only the isolated bits to make their case and hope the full detail is nevver brout out as evidence. This is unfortunate but you simply find another wheel alignment shop that perhaps does understand handling and it's consequence when a minor change is requested. That's a pretty mean hit there Alex and I would cringe at the impulse energy on the chassis. While the components and mounting points might seem good now, that impact would severely reduce the number of through life cyclic loads that the elements involved in the impact can accept before failure occurs, so the life of the chassis has now been significantly shortened. I hope it is being closely inspected after each event and a log book of the significant vehicle "events" and the outcome of each inspection. If not then it is a time bomb. Anyway, good luck guys but please make some detailed disclosures when selling such items such as for track use only to cover your ass with items fitted with sphericals. -
What Is Wrong With Adjustable Arms

And still you fail to comprehend the nature of my fairly plain english but I will try again. Alex claims sphericals last "YEARs" but this is clearly untrue to those of us who have been racing for a long time. Enough said on that. No proof and no detail. I'd suggest your affilliation with G-13 and Alex is deeper than simply financial and implies certain responsibilities if you post with his logo attached. I've had several sponsorship deals and sponsored a number of professional cyclists. They don't speak for me, they don't speak at all in my colours. I certainly never said anything controversial in some elses colours. I have taken another look at my post you quote and while I use the term "you" it is not directed at you nor have I named you. It is a generalisation that can apply to any reader. I apologise if you failed to comprehend that but the substance is correct. I myself recalled all of my moly HICAS locks at my expense when i realised there was an error in fabrication. Not just a legal but moral responsibility as some of my friends use them. As for the double standard, my suggestion stands whilever I see your signature image and you fail to pull him up or demand further evidence or clarification. -
Speaking of sledgies, and since you didn't roll up the 31 for the SNS (hell a towtruck is the natural environment for a 31 isn't) I call a motion that we pay a nominal price for it and do a beat up at the next meet. You'd still win best 31 with the turnout we had Look forward to seeing the new Ash-leash (it's like ashley with a lisp) but yeah, wives/girlfriends of are off limits no matter how much we enjoy bashing ya'. The muscle is back in its cage champ. Keen to see how they perform as Benno highly recommends them.

What Is Wrong With Adjustable Arms
GTRgeoff replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Well you do a poor job of the explanation, and if financial interest causes scepticism then surely Alexs' limited detail posts on sphericals are extremely suspect. If you don't want a debate then think before you suggest a long standing and well respected member of the forum is corrupt. Don't pull a double standard on us. I expect SK is ready for your apology now. -

What Is Wrong With Adjustable Arms
GTRgeoff replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
1. Nothing wrong with the title. What is wrong with adjustable arms? Well the spherical ends have poor longevity and are not road legal and can damage your vehicle. He is vindicated. 2. He is providing a product he is satisfied with the form, fit and function of and attempting to save members major costs in the future. Given his current and previous occupations he is about the only person on this forum that will really know. I'd suggest others would not get the exact specification products that SK has provided but a more generic product eg the six (I believe and will check) different modifications to the GTR shocks valving as well as the extra height grooves and the added holes to the GTR anti roll bars that he initially developed for Whiteline. The intellectual property alone is worth more but hey, lets all buy generic and save a couple of bucks. 3. Which sponsor has he named? Perhaps he is a. right and b. is worth more as a member providing advice and raw knowledge than some sponsors monetary input. 4. When a subject matter expert writes a paper or article he doesn't need references. He is the reference. Perhaps his controlled testing was on someone elses payroll, say at a race track so specific detail is not easily divulged for IP reasons as well as protecting his reputation by keeping some detail close to the chest and is therefore a good intelligence risk for the current and next employer. Do you get it yet??? -
You sneaky little monkey. I bet he'd even put the blue badges on the sides to keep the con going.

End of an era. So it will now be known as the boring buttplug rex club.

As if the rexie poof forum has been interesting Bludge with all your whining mates on there. If it had sound it'd be like Heathrow Lets keep it clean with Ash's girly. Aside from poor taste she might actually be nice so no nastiness. I have one month left before a whole month in Thailand scuba diving and lounging on the beach at Koh Samui. Pack 3/3 of my Sydneykid/Whiteline/Bilstien suspension has arrived so now for 1 and 2. I've sent 2 guys around to rob Ash of his GTSS's cos a 31 don't deserve them..........
