That's a nice XA. Might be time to get one and modernise the setup with later model engine and tuning and suspension.........

Blade, one option you do have is to take a look at your record and determine how long you have before you get points back to save your license if you take the 3 points. Then, if the period is not much greater than 6 months I'd suggest that you elect to contest the fine, wait for the summons to court (could take almost 6 months) and the appearance date which is usually somewhat later. As the date approaches and you have your points returned you then pay the fine and a small admin fee and you have kept your license. Of course this is all wasted if you then are caught again in the meantime.

1997 Skyline Gts25 Turbo Type M
GTRgeoff replied to capitao's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
-what is the max boost can i run with stock turbo? it depends on the condition of the turbo and how well you care for it. I have seen 14psi used consistently for a long time without failure. Always warm up well or drive off easy and don't go hard for at least 5 min. Come in steady to where your journey finishes and then allow a short idle down of around 30 sec. -what are the best modifications for these car? In this order, full 3" exhaust, front mount intercooler, adjustable rising rate fuel reg/fuel pump(bosch 030/033)/powerfc computer, new turbo/injectors then upgrade to a GTR33 -how can i remove the speed limiter? The powerfc will do this or an apexi RSM. there are other addons as well. -i want to build a custom exhaust with twin tube. what size of tube i have to use? try 2" for twin but there are so many 3" exhausts your should just buy second hand or get the car shipped with it. what is the best turbo timer, mechanical boost controller, blow off valve, air filter for this car? most timers are of a muchness, a basic bleed valve for mechanical or the aussie Jaycar electronic boost controller is about the best of all,BOV is a matter of preference but maybe GFB, Air filter I believe the apexi or blitz. There was a test done and one of these did really well. what are the advantages of mechanical boost controller? poorer than Jaycar but at least you can run a little extra boost. is it possible to run on leaded fuel? Not if you want your Oxygen Sensor to continue working. can i use UNICHIP piggyback computer? Yep what is the top speed and acceleration times in standard form? 180 kmh limited or about 220 unlimited. 0-100kmh 6 seconds what is the inlet size for air filter? Around 70mm As mentioned you should try to use a higher RON fuel such as 98 but with the PFC you can tune to run on any petrol fuel you desire. -
Tyre Pressures For The Track
GTRgeoff replied to AzzurrA's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have found, starting with standard pressures of around 34-36 for road tyres works, but with semi's I know a lot use around 28. The rest now is up to you......adjust to suit your preference. SK, what's with the rim fetish mate Cheers Geoff -
A trip to WA could come off before these slack buggers in Vic actually get the machining done
-
You could get the 0.5mm OS turned down. Free to pick up.

Wheelbase looks too short for track, with the feet protruding beyond the front axle line. Pity, but FSAE and its equivalents worldwide want to try to avoid any resalability for legal reasons. It's a major gripe with the editors of Racecar Engineering Magazine.

Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines
GTRgeoff replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I had a look this morning at just this on a set I have here. The detail on the back says 17x7-1/2JJ and another single number of 40. I did some measurements and it ispretty close to that. -

What Kinda Power Will Steel Turbo's Make On A Gtr?
GTRgeoff replied to USRB25S13's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Standard steel wheeled (modified) turbos I make 260rwkw with stock ecu and 1bar of boost. Also the fuel reg is an adjustable replacement item for the stocker. -
Not quite up for a big night out. SAU club was a stretch on Tues. Have a big one mate.

Couldn't say for the RB20 but RB25/26/30 are the same so what are the odds of the 20 being different?

R34 Gt-t Offset Question
GTRgeoff replied to Binky1970's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I just had a look at the spare set of R34GTt wheels I have here and they are 225 from side to side on the tyre, so say 215, and 154 from back of tyre to mounting face so say 150. This would suggest 215/2=107 being halfway and 150-107=43. So about 40 offset. The wheel markings are 17x7 1/2 JJ and another marking simply states 40 which could be the offset. What the clearances are over the brakes I couldn't say. -
Ok then, it may be your power steering fluid level or your steering wheel is not centred. Unfortunately the wheel might have been off before and put on crooked. It could also be your steering wheel sensor. Will be a pain to diagnose if not the fluid level.

This ain't bunny hops and wheelies mate You have time to establish some endurance and become used to sitting on a bike for hours. Last one I did I hadn't ridden for 10 weeks but still did 8 hours. I'd suggest 10 hours a good target with the varied levels of preparation in this group. The key to this ride, for each of you in its own way, will be ensuring everyone who starts, short of injury or illness, comes in together. The stronger riders have to back it off a bit, and enjoy a more social speed for them that doesn't destroy the others too fast. The riders with less prep must let the others know if they are struggling and accept some direction on when to eat and drink and what to do to maintain comfort. Hydration: every opportunity you think of. At least every 15 min. Use very little of the wonder drinks, they are marketing crap. I just used water and use rehydrate after the event, usually 2 litres as a start and just drink at a comfortable rate. Afterwards is just as important as before. Drink at least one bottle of water before mounting up to go. Drink a couple of litres through the evening before. I used to have a really bad nights sleep before BIG races if I was tapering. Too much energy, lots of water in the system and I'd feel a little ordinary at the start, and usually would place high or win. Take the start easy. Lots will take off like a shot but ignore them, there are a few hours left to go so just roll along and wait at least 1/2 -3/4 hour before cranking it up for some fun. Food: powerbars and stuff are ok, but so are snakes and other jellies and they aren't as messy. Repackage them in a soft food bag and ditch their original packet. Try to eat a good roll or sandwich at halfway for the ferry ride. Lots of salad on the roll and a little meat (unless that's not cool for you ok). Take the opportunity for a dump as well as the constant motion can get things moving and you can do without them moving out on the highway. Comfort: stand up and pedal at least every 15mins or more often if you start to feel uncomfortable in the legs or seat. Move the hands around on the bars. Occasionaly have a bit of a sprint. Not too energetic, but just to have a little push and stretch some tendons. Eventually everyone starts to know the signs of an impending sprint, like an obvious object on the side of the road and one of you will get a bit twitchy. Contest, but just a bit, and just for a little fun. No sheep stations.

Sorry, didn't mean to be too harsh on the Barbie Kyles. We all know what you said is true. Plenty of heat and no critters survive and they alway taste better well used. My better half is keen on me "saving" as well so when the old barbie needed replacing we decided on a style and waited as prices came down. Ended up with one from Bunnings (everything a real man ever needs, power tools, BBQ's the lot). 6 burner with a Wok and trolley and roasting hood. Twin chargrill racks and single plate. Started at 800 and we got it for 500. Then I found the temp was just not enough sometimes so I got out the smallest drill bit I have at around 0.7mm and rejetted them. Barbie now has turbo boost!!!! I'd be happy to biatch at a barbie with the WA crowd. That way everyone gets to say hi but no plans right now.....maybe later. And Paul is just discovering, as a true gentleman, that discretion is the better part of valour. But we still have the right to stick the knife in. Cheers Geoff
-
What happened to the other bit???? Well good luck all the same mate to both you and Lauren, and a couple of mortgages means more cars, not less. I got 5 cars now.... Thinking twice about that barbie at Kyles place if the offer ever comes........
-
I would suggest the distance from hat to rotor edge. Also I could be wrong on the GTR thickness. Must be crossed wires on the GTR32 mess.
-
Yeah just slotted mate.
-
Denham No they are not alloy hats, especially not at that price. The thickness of a GTR disc is greater (33mm) than the GTSt so I'd be concerned if they are selling that size in a narrow disc of 30mm. Maybe just an option for GTSt but not for GTR.
-
I have some. 0.5mm OS 4 only as the other 2 were cracked but have to find them.
-
Hummers suck. They get stuck in the tracks of my Leopard tank..... MOOOOoooooo I like V35, and always have

GTRgeoff replied to GTR-KID's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Yep, if I had the readies and the time to drive to Mildura to pickup I'd grab them. Just too much money though to send to a newbie with no background and no escrow system to use. I'll keep them in mind though but I don't think they'll last. Dammit.
