  1. I also have a series 2 R33 and have had the Whiteline Handling pack (adj sway bars + camber/castor) in for about 6 months. I still have the standard spring and shocks. Basically the day to day ride quality is no different, not too harsh like with uprated springs/shocks. The main difference is seen when cornering fast. The car is heaps nicer in and out of corners and feels real stable, good feedback through the wheel and doesn't roll around like a bloated whale when you get the power on early. The best advantage is when (if...?) you get it out on the track. Dial in a stiffer setting and see if you can lift the inside wheel exiting the hairpins. Then again, if your shocks have seen a fair amount of action it may be worthwhile replacing them as well. The car is only as good as it's weakest link. Z.
  2. Just adding my 0.02c Front - definitely go with SAU logo and afterburners with TeamTrackday underneath. Back - maybe the 4 NSW circuits ( for now ) in a 2 x 2 format. Could label each circuit with location details and track length. Individuals can add their best times for each track inside the track outline with a permanent marker.... may get messy if you keep getting faster though. Z.
  3. Most memorable moment....well it would have to be following the Formula Ford into turn 1 at 180km/hr only to find out that my skyline doesn't have the ability to handle a REALLY late turn in. My personal thanks to the track designers who allocated ample runoff between turns 1 and 2. Without them I would no doubt be part of the wall. Oh, and another thankyou to my missus for doing the laundry later that night. Without her I would still have badly soiled jocks. To all that attended, I hope everyone had a great day, I sure did. To those who missed out, get in early for the next one. It has to be the best way to truely experience what your skyline can do ( without attracting excess police attention ). Now, who is working on the official "SAU - Team Trackday" long sleeve t-shirt? Z.
  4. Sweeet present there Pete. When your done you may be able to bend the cap into a proper mounting bracket for the 31's exhaust. You know, one that bolts on!!!. Now take a deep breath and get back to that bottle, your not done yet. Happy Birthday mate. Z.
  5. Dan, Definitely have the need for speed and really need to dust out the high speed cobwebs but can't confirm attendance yet. I may be settling on my house on the 6th June which means I'll be moving gear around that weekend. If settlement gets pushed back then I am there with bells on ( no, not literally!! ). I'll finalise my house stuff asap and get back to you before the 19th. As for Oz, he's still waiting on his PFC replacement so I doubt he'll want to risk getting beat by GTST's. Maybe we can provoke him out from under his rock. Z.
  6. Try Eagle Tyres in Granville ( 9637 4355 ). Last time I was there they had Kumho Ecsta 712 in 235/40 ZR18 for $250 each. Not a bad tyre and mine have lasted >35000kms so far with a few track days thrown in for good measure. They also had Dunlop W10 for $360, Falken 326 for $240 and falken 512 for $260 ( all in 235/40/18 ). Or alternately you could go to BobJane or Beaurepaires and pay over $500 a tyre for something like Dunlop SP9000 or Bridgestone Potenza S03's. Great tyres but I know where I'll be going for my next set. This is, however, assuming you're not after the ultimate in tyre technology/price. Z.
  7. I haven't decided about 3/4 yet. Would love to but I'm in the process of buying a house and it's hard to justify track days when you're in money watching mode. If I do decide to go it will be a last minute thing. Also I don't know if I'll have time before then to get new rubber on the front end and it's mighty frustrating when what's left of your tyres go off after the 2nd lap (leaving the rest of the session with no responce through the front end). With good rubber I should be lapping close to 1:56-1:57's which is a lot more fun than 2min flat. Z.
  8. Great day when I finally got onto the track. As Oz said, lap times were a little disappointing but consistant at the 2 minute mark. Goes to show what difference a good set of tyres can do for your times. Also was the first time I've had the temp creep up but that could be due to the humidity and +30deg track temps. I think there were only 16 cars in total so nearly every lap was a clear run. Oz failed to mention his off road antics on the outside of turn eight but the only video proof I have is a big dust cloud as I approached from several seconds behind. I can't rub it in though as I too ploughed the field exiting the flipflop at turn seven. Nothing that couldn't be hosed off later. Things to do before next track day: -new front rubber -remove 180km/hr limiter -save $$$ Z.
  9. Me too... Sh1ts me to no end, and I'm sure the neighbours are getting a little annoyed. Tried tightening them but still squeals like a biatch. I'm sure they are the original factory belts so it might be time to replace them. Might try an old pair of pantyhose instead. Z.
  10. Evening gents, I have done the CAMS two day driving course but am yet to apply for the license. Am waiting for SAU to become CAMS affiliated and start running events. Z.
  11. My exhaust goes something like this. cat - hotdog resonator - box muffler - polished jobbie at the back. All this to keep the dB at a safe EPA level. All components are straight through design so there is little difference in power (about 5-6rwkw) between one or all three mufflers. Mind you, if you can handle the droning on the freeway at 110km/hr nothing sounds better than a straight pipe with single muffler on the tail. Z.
  12. If these are the Premium slim plates (black letters on white background) they are non transferable. To change owners they need to be submitted to the RTA for 6 months before they can be reissued. If they are 'custom' Premium plates then no worries but I would check with the RTA before looking to sell. Z.
  13. "FULLL TRAAACK" ->whipes drool from chin<- I'm there. So what if it's my brothers birthday. He can come, what a great gift, glad I thought of it. Z.
  14. Thanks for the info guys. Well it looks like I'll be giving Whiteline a call. Can anyone think of any negatives to only changing the swaybars? I'd rather not spend extra money on a full suspension package if swaybars can give me the desired effect. I'll leave the coilovers until I move to a place where I can get out of the driveway without scraping. Z.
  15. I'm looking at improving the cornering of my series 2 R33 by upgrading the sway bars while leaving the springs and shocks standard. As the car is a daily driver (and I'd like to keep my kidneys where they are) is this a sensible option? Will this modification provide better handling on the track? Where is the best place to source good swaybars for skylines? I know of Whiteline, but who else supplies good suspension components? What else can be done to improve the handling of my car without dropping the ride height or having too firm suspension for every day use? Send some info my way so I can work on dropping those lap times. Z.
  16. Just thought I'd let you know that I'm still around. Xrsist - Ya busted me on the way to squash. Oh, and Hi. Prank - I still live at Narrabeen, although I tend to spend more time at my brother's place in Wentworthville than at home. BY BY - Still working at Zenith but have been parking under the building a lot so the car has been out of public view. I got sick of people touch parking. You should all try to get to the track day at the Creek on the 19th Dec so we can have a chat ( and so you can all see how clean and shiny my rear bumper is  ) Z.
  17. I have Quiktrak installed and it is not too difficult to integrate a turbo timer however Quiktrak ( the company ) will not support this modification to their system. When it comes down to it they are not willing to modify their product whatsoever and probably don't have the expertise to make it happen anyway. Basically you need to get used to the idea that after any spirited driving you'll have to sit for a while until the temps come down before you can alarm the vehicle. It's a small price to pay for the peace of mind that this monitoring gives. Z.
  18. It's been a long time between drinks so count me in. Already have the day off so let's make this a big one to end the year. Also have a mate with a 180SX who is mighty keen to wear down the rears. And another with a VR-X Magna who wants to throw it around a racetrack before selling it, he will probably be there. Only count him as 50%, it is a magna after all. Oz ( Paul ) is a 95% chance of making it as well. Now if I can only get a few hours free to install that pesky bleed valve. Z.
  19. I have a similar sticker under my rear wiper as well and have been meaning to find out if it meant anything. Mine is black, about 3cm long, with white letters: S.F.H.C. If anyone knows the relevance of this please let me know. RUX - As for your sticker, unfortunately I can't even think of a smartarse responce at the moment. Z.
  20. Does anyone have an old Turbosmart duel stage (cabin switchable) boost controller? Maybe even a good deal on a new one. You can PM me with any details, or send me an email at : [email protected] Z.
  21. If you supply all the parts then I would hope no-one would charge more than $300 to install. Bear in mind that the front bar will need to be trimmed back to allow the cooler to fit which can be a tricky job for a tight fit. If your good with tools and have the time I see no reason why you couldn't do it yourself. Remember, $300 in your pocket is $300 more to spend on going faster. Z.
  22. My Hybrid Intercooler (bar and plate) is 600x300x76 and cost me $850 (new). The finish is excellent and so far the cooling capabilities are impressive. Dennis from Oz's post above did the install for $650. This included all pipes, silicon connecting hoses, clamps, painting and fitting. Dropped the car in on friday night and picked it up on sunday arvo. The setup included removing the factory crossover inlet piping and custom making a new pipe that bends 180 degrees from the plenum and drops to the front driver's corner. This cuts out a few feet of piping and reduces potential lag. I also had Dennis refit the factory BOV onto this pipe so the whole setup passes EPA inspection and keeps most ignorant cops happy. The piping is even sprayed grey so it matches the colour of the plenum. With this FMIC setup, a full 3" exhaust and pod filter, the car makes a rock steady 163rwkw any day of the year. The test will come when I raise the boost and start pumping hotter air through the core. I don't expect any problems as so far the FMIC stays icy cold. Z.
  23. I'm searching desperately for an A-pillar pod that suits 2 5/8" gauges. Would prefer a duel pod for boost and oil temp gauges. Surely someone out there knows where I can get one !!! Please help, I don't want to wind the boost up until I sort this issue out and the wait is killing me. Z.
