  1. Hi Phil, Good to see some of the ppl from CAA on board here For all those who don't know: Audison http://www.audison.com/default.asp?lang=eng Morel http://www.morelhifi.com/products/mob_audio.html Hertz http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/default_en.htm Connection http://www.connectionaudison.com Vijay
  2. It doesn't sound like anything is out of the ordinary but here's what you need to do. - The RAWS should have affixed the purple sticker to the car before it left the workshop - it definitely should not have been sent via the mail. Put it on the car based on the requirements for locating that sticker. - To drive the car you need arrange to arrange an Unregistered Vehicle Permit UVP from Vicroads,This page from Vicroads describes what you need to get the UVP. - Get the UVP, drive to NSW You then need to arrange NSW registration. This page shows you what you need to do (read the section on Imported Vehicles). Basically you need a weighbridge ticket, a blue slip, and then take that with the Consumer Information Notice and purchase papers into the RTA with your CTP green slip. You pay for stamp duty & rego, and then they may arrange (almost always you will have to for a SEVS vehicle) arrange for you to attend an 'identity check' inspection. This is where they check all the numbers match up.
  3. Looks like standard roadworthiness type stuff, only really surprising issue is having to provide evidence that the lights comply. I'll throw this one to the Mexicans to solve..
  4. I just checked with FHRX and they sell Morel for the price printed on the pricelist on their website. Marty stated that they sell them for this price because the retail is in grey next to them. On that note, this topic is now closed. Let's leave it at that. Everyone take a deep breath and think about what you type before you hit the 'add reply' button next
  5. Might be worth checking if the gearstick rubber boot is secure. Had a similar problem in my car, lots of heat. Pulled off the shifter surround and none of the screws holding the rubber boot and gaskets were there.
  6. Autoelectrican? You can bend the current terminals to fit a larger battery. I just used a large flat-headed screwdriver, and then fitted a longer bolt to keep it secure. Haven't had any problems since.
  7. Clarion = Addzest. Clarion products used to be sold under the 'Addzest' label in Japan. So it should work.
  8. If you're going Tomei easiest option would be through the local distributors: Hi Octane Racing (NSW) http://www.hioctaneracing.com.au Access Auto Engineering (VIC) http://www.accessauto.com.au
  9. Importing yourself you will need to arrange a shipping agent on the Japanese side and then just enlist a customs broker here to handle the paperwork when it lands. Main trouble may be arranging the shipping over there if you don't speak Japanese. If you can't speak Japanese I'd suggest you get someone else to arrange it. Your previous thread yielded some decent contacts - Kudos Motorsports, Just Jap, Slidewize, PowerPlay. You could probably go through a workshop like CRD too.
  10. I can only guess here but here's my thoughts #1 - Your questions are similar to mine, I would just put forward the 'what if' scenario to them and ask what they would do to try and help you out #2 - The times I've imported the original dereg cert has been mailed to me from Japan so perhaps that's what they are saying, that you need to provide that to them? #3 - Section 7.3 of the RAWS Recall Code states that 'the RAW is responsible for all costs in a recall.' My reading of it is that it doesn't really specify to what extent this applies. Would be worth reading over the code and then putting the questions back to them. Actually just another thought on #3. I know of several ppl in Victoria who needed further compliance work carried out some years after their cars were complied, arising from some CPA holders who didn't perform all the necessary work. The workshop had since been closed, but in their cases VicRoads paid for the work to be conducted on the vehicles.
  11. You need new tyres (except for the spare) as part of SEVS. The rims on the car must be in accordance with the RAWS' sample evidence which was submitted and shown on the vehicle inspection certificate which is submitted to DOTARS. If the RAWS got V35 compliance with Maxima wheels fitted then that would be okay. If there is a discrepancy it wouldn't be allowed.
  12. I don't recall anything in the legislation mandating costs to be borne by a RAWS. They pay DOTARS a $500 fee for re-inspection but it doesn't specify who pays for any costs after that. And generally from the T&C I've seen costs of dealing with an uncompliable car are passed onto the consumer. I'd expect it to be the same across the place.
  13. Yep. Generally happens when car has been in an acco. It may also be presented as A, 0, (as well as R). If there's a 1 after it (eg R1) it's a minor accident.

  15. Can't view threads in Lo-Fi Version (I'm using IE6 atm).
  16. Which shows how stupid this thread is. Of course if you have two identical things but push one harder it will break first. However the thread isn't about which will break first but about how long one will break before the other. This of course can vary with all the many variables present in the real world. This is what I believe MANWHORE was trying to emphasise.

  18. There were several speakers offered as factory fitment options, and I'm pretty sure there was a Clarion (Addzest) one offered. All of them are nothing special. Post a photo if you really want to be sure.
  19. YES. But only becuase you are special.
  20. - Marty Price, FHRX Studios http://www.fhrxstudios.com Several people have had work done by Marty here, I can think of myself and Wolverine for a start. Others include - Doran Pro Audio - Precision Car Engineering, Carlton In terms of labour rates you'll find that they aren't different to your bulk installer (eg Strathfield, JB). But they have high standards of quality and won't take shortcuts, whereas the quality can vary greatly at those big retail outlets depending on the installer.
  21. I would probably say upfront for any SEVS car, it's crucial you pick a RAW before you purchase the car. I imported an FTO last year, and even though there were several RAWS-accredited workshops around, I almost had trouble finding one who would comply it (most were only doing bulk quantities for car yards) - make sure the RAWS can comply your car, is willing to, and has plates available (you may have to put down a deposit) - if you know there are modifications on the car, discuss them upfront. Surprises can be costly. - for something like the V35, I'd discuss the xenon lights issue with them - keep in touch regarding the expected arrival date of the car Have you picked a RAW yet?
  22. Must meet the following, as per the June 2006 revisions: - Any part of the number plate is not more than 1300mm from the ground; - The number plates are substantially parallel to the vehicle's axles; - Any number plate is not obscured, for example by a towing attachment, gooseneck or tow ball; - Any number plate cover is not tinted, reflective, rounded or bubble like; - Any number plate is of RTA issue, is damaged or faded to the extent that the registration number is not visible; - Characters on the number plate are clearly visible from a distance of 20 metres at any point within an arc of 45 degrees from the surface of the number plate above or to either side of the vehicle.
  23. Hey Noy do the Custom Carbon bonnets meet ADRs? I remember reading somewhere a while back that some of yours had approval.
