  1. wouldnt it be cheaper to get a stock ecu remapped? or does chip torque do something different?
  2. Guessing you must have had a GTT with xenons, which were replaced with halogen bulbs during compliance? If so, your lights will most likely be shithouse, especially when it's wet. Unfortunate side-effect of the process, putting a halogen bub in a housing not designed for them. But you're putting 100W globes in a circuit designed for 55W (or thereabouts). Requires extra power, generates heat -> melted stuff. Get an autoelectrican to upgrade your headlight wiring if you want to use uprated bulbs in the standard assembly.
  3. The process has been described several times in this forum. Read this link about importing cars into Australia: http://www.dotars.gov.au/transport/safety/.../importing.aspx A RAWS is a workshop who can comply your car. This basically entails making modifications to ensure it complies with Australian safety standards. Each RAWS can comply specific models of cars. You need to search for one who can comply the car you are looking for: http://raws.dotars.gov.au/rawswebpublic/RAWPubSearch.asp Once the car lands in Australia, you need to arrange a Customs broker to complete Customs /Quarantine inspections, and to pay the required GST and Duties applicable for imported cars. The car then goes to a RAWS, who carry out the compliance work. Following that, you can register the car. J-Spec has a page which describes the whole process too: http://www.j-spec.com.au/files/general.html
  4. rb25_r32 no need to be like that. And since you've sorted out your situation, this thread is done.
  5. See link here: http://www.dynamat.com/products_car_audio_dynaxorb.html Recommended. minger: I'd usually say that a reduction in door vibration would be more closely attributed to the use of sound deadening in your doors, whilst products like dynaxorb would have more of a impact on the midbass response.
  6. Alpine website http://www.alpine.com.au has a list of dealers around Australia.
  7. Don't think they will move that much in terms of pricing here, because the release of the new Skyline will not affect SEVS stock. You should probably look at your pricing anyhoo. When I was looking to import late last year Series 3 R33 GTRs were going for high 20s-low 30k landed. And that excludes the rise in the exchange rate we've experienced since.
  8. Generally the remotes don't make the boat when the car is shipped, from what I've noticed anyway.
  9. From the Register, The VQ25DD models aren't eligible. All others are. This means you can choose from: 2WD 350RX VQ35DE 3.5ltr, 200kW/1580kg, V6 Engine - 126kw/tonne. 350RX AXIS VQ35DE 3.5lt, 200kw/1610kg, V6 Engine - 125kw/tonne. 350RX AXIS S VQ35DE 3.5lt, 200kw/1580kg, V6 Engine -126kw/tonne. 300RX VQ30DD 3.0lt, 191kw/1590kg, V6 Engine - 120kw/tonne. 4WD 350RX FOUR VQ35DE 3.5ltr, 200kW/1670kg, V6 Engine -119kw/tonne. ARX FOUR VQ35DE 3.5ltr, 200kw/1710kg, V6 Engine - 116kw\tonne. 350RX FOUR AXIS VQ35DE 3.5lt, 200kw/1700, V6 Engine - 117kw/tonne. 350RX FOUR AXIS S VQ35DE 3.5lt, 200kw/1670, V6 Engine - 119kw/tonne. 250T RX FOUR VQ25DET 2.5lt Turbo, 206kw/1680, 122kw/tonne.
  10. i would go with what mafia has said. you would looking around 1750 for a gcg highflow i wouldn't bother going for an engine swap for 250rwkw engine swap you would also have to factor in the install cost (and a realistically priced engine)which adds up
  11. List of Gizzmo dealers: http://www.gizzmoelectronics.com/company_dealer.htm
  12. ^^ Yeah Jerry is right. The RAWS should be fully aware of all the ADR requirements to comply a car, especially after the presumably long shitfight that most would have had to endure from DOTARS to obtain approval to comply a car. 'Tis a bit strange he let you go like that, but anyway from your PM it looks like you'll be right next time.
  13. Yep. Check the Forced Induction sticky dude, there is a review on before/after results. Will result in some top end gains.
  14. Boss rules above all else
  15. With all due respect I'm surprised you don't have his details already. That's a lot of money to be fronting up to anyone, especially if you're on the other side of the planet.
  16. rb25_r32 what brands are you looking at? Do you have any particular models you are interested in? Depending on the brand, you might have trouble finding street prices, let alone have manufacturer/distributor supported online sales. If you are still undecided and looking for RECOMMENDATIONS - then use the what to buy thread in Car Audio, or look up the CAA forums. If you want to BUY online, places like Doran, Audio Express, Adelaide Pro Sound, Ryda, all do traditional online sales (ie via shopping carts). There are others who can arrange sales via phone/email (eg FHRX Studios). If you want to go see the stores in person on Sunday, to be honest mate Yellowpages is still your best bet This is just a sample off my head there's plenty more if you look around.
  17. ^^ You're probably right with the interim rego sewid. The time I got an interim label was when there was about a two week wait (over xmas). Second time inspection was within three days so didn't bother getting one. RTA told me that identity check is basically compulsory for SEVS cars, but they don't really bother with the 15 year cars (not that it's much of an issue these days).
  18. chris86 see the following link for paperwork /processes regarding registration of an import (read the section 2/3 down the page on registering an imported vehicle): http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/rego_new.html Basically, for a 1996 GTST, once the car has compliance, you would do the following: - obtain a blue slip (most compliance workshops can arrange that) - purchase a green slip (compulsory CTP) - take import papers + blue & green slips to RTA - complete application for registration - RTA may require you to submit to an 'identity check' at Botany or Penrith VIIU, and will book you in for one. They do offer conditional rego until the inspection - Attend VIIU inspection - Return to RTA with passed VIIU inspection slips, they will give you full rego sticker.
  19. When I signed up to Shannons I asked about track coverage, and they offered it to me but it was about three times higher than my normal premium.
