  1. Search for "VIIU" or "identity check" on SAU should bring up a couple of related threads. RTA told me most SEVS plated cars will have to undergo one, main reason to ensure it's not a rebirth. I have been through a couple. No biggie. You drive the car into the carpark at the Vehicle Identification Inspection Unit (VIIU, hand the inspectors your keys and all paperwork. They will drive the car into the garage and shut the door. You're not allowed to view the inspection. Whereabouts are you at? The RTA has a VIIU at Botany and Penrith, and you can generally choose which one to go to. They will inspect the import paperwork (CIN), as well as ensure VINs and engine numbers match up. In regards to defects - a few early posts on SAU seemed to indicate you could get pinged for defects whilst at the VIIU (after all, if you ever need an RTA defect inspection it's conducted at the VIIU). However, I went through last year with some HIDs and it wasn't mentioned. Being a SEVS car I would imagine that your V35 is pretty clean though. Shouldn't have any problems. I would not suggest going through with a 4" exhaust and 19" rims though... Tyres: Bit strange there. The CIN issued by the RAWS should lists all the work carried out during compliance, including what brand of tyres were fitted. I would try to ensure that they match up to what's on the notice. Overall it's not really a big issue, the inspection. Always a bad feeling waiting for them, but I had no issues.
  2. lol Sydney was / has been pretty much the same in my experience and talking to some RAWS. First car I ever imported passed first go and the customs broker I used was surprised when he heard that. Didn't really understand what he meant until cars 2&3 came through
  3. R31Skylineclub forums have some info in their stereo section. Here's one link hopefully helps http://forum.r31skylineclub.com/index.php?topic=44015.0
  4. Hi guys, RB26, JB clutch and stock flywheel - Car has firm (but not overly hard) suspension - Bit of a resonance issue at cruising speeds (from exhaust) - Shifter will pop out of gear after about 5 min on the highway, or bit earlier if the road is a bit rough What should I start looking at to fix? Cheers...
  5. That wasn't EPA Chris.. it was Vicroads ADR inspection for anyone whose car had undergone compliance with a couple of workshops due to them being dodgy/not fully doing the compliance work.
  6. Just over a month now. I gave the pump outlets a squirt of WD40 and taped all them up so should be fine in storage. Pics to come, the hoses enabled me to place the surge tank on the right side of my boot next to the Attessa pump, with the fuel pumps on the boot floor where the spare tyre used to be.
  7. Woops, my bad. You want VSI15 http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/dow...s/vsi/vsi15.pdf Should make it a bit easier
  8. Like I said, you can only get rego with an Engineer from the list. There are no exceptions to that.
  9. Did you call around the Engineer list? They are the only ones who the RTA will accept to sign off, there's not that many so call until you find a cheap one. Easy
  10. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=134251 Look up Chris Rogers in the thread above and give him a call. Just be mindful that the installation has a pretty big role in how effective your alarm system is. A cheap installation may take shortcuts in wiring and location.
  11. The Competency test for VIC signatories involves two main tests: - ADR knowledge test (open book) - RAWS Competency test (closed book) as well as standard Fit and Proper checks, etc. That's about all I know, probably best to speak to DOTARS about the process...
  12. lol. Keep it to discussion of car audio websites. Any more discussion of the proc/cons of ebay talk and I'm locking the thread.
  13. I believe you are referring to a diffuser mat. aah00n if you want your car to sound good, get the deadening. Doesn't even have to be the whole door - I only had the forward half of my doors deadened and it made a significant improvement.
  14. Read this tutorial on sound deadening (courtesy of CAA) http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/content.php?contentID=19 ..and subsequent discussion on it http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=50295
  15. Get the 6.5"s. It'll be fine. 4x6s will sound like crap.
  16. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=94069 6.5" speakers will fit in both.. if you want to use the current holes make sure you measure the mounting depth.
  17. Download the list of engineers from the RTA site and start calling. http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/dow...s/vsi/vsi15.pdf They are sometimes a bit so-so about signing off on work they haven't overseen, especially when it comes to the side intrusion bars which would be required. If not done already I think you'll also need the Australian VIN number to be affixed to the engine bay somewhere (?). But from where you are now, engineers certificate, blueslip, and weighbridge ticket are the main things. See RTA link below for establishing new registration for an imported vehicle and the documents you need: http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/rego_new.html //edited to include correct VSI link.
  18. Call J-Spec Imports.
  19. I'm going to close this thread with a message to some of the professionals posting here . I appreciate your input to the forum. But please don't start slanging matches on SAU. There are several things which are going to almost always cause arguments e.g. eBay sellers vs. specialist car audio stores vs. retail chains, like this thread. It's no different to the rest of SAU, where specialist performance workshops have to compete with bulk retail outlets (Autobarn), and overseas stores (Nengun). Agree to disagree in this case. Each has cons and pros. Any questions feel free to drop me a PM. Vijay
  20. According to Paul's FAQ, Apexi product chart says that for an SR20, compatible FC Commanders have a serial FCC NT (1st gen) or FCC FN or FCC3 (later releases). So it looks like your mate has the PFC that requires a FCC FN or FCC3 serial FC Commander.
  21. Hmm sorry mate I must have misread the post R32 may have 4x6" or 6.5" up front and 6.5" rear
  22. R33 - 6.5" front/rear. May be slightly different depending on the various factory options that were afforded to your car.
